Title: Monstrous

Author: Thomas E. Sniegoski

Narrator: Madeleine Maby

Format: Unabridged

Length: 10 hrs and 14 mins

Language: English

Release date: 05-30-17

Publisher: Simon & Schuster Audio

Ratings: 4 of 5 out of 2 votes

Genres: Teens, Sci-Fi & Fantasy

Publisher's Summary:

Sidney and her friends might have survived the storm that came to the small island of Benediction, but now the storm has reached Boston, and the city isn't prepared for what's coming in this sequel to the "unpredictable" (VOYA) and "fast-paced" (School Library Journal) Savage from New York Times best-selling author Thomas E. Sniegoski.

The horrors that began in Savage continue in Boston as Sydney and her friends work to protect the city from the newly crazed rampage of animals and try to figure out the origin of the storm and its power.

A SAVAGE SEQUEL PRODUCES MONSTROUS RESULTS

The terror and the unknown had been defeated. The world had returned to some semblance of sanity and the island of Benediction could finally take a breath. Family...Friends... everyone had lost someone or something and now it was time to recover and to heal.

But...then...the day turns and the horror returns. Only now, it's not just a little, quiet, peaceful island. the battle has found it's way to the mainland - to Boston - and what was only a brief nightmare has now become a raging night terror.

Thomas Sniegoski has delivered the second book in the SAVAGE series and there's no sophomore jinx here. The sequel only builds upon the first giving us the handful of survivors from the original battle now joined by an array of new supporting characters who are thrown into the maelstrom.

Sniegoski is a master at building suspense and truly exercises his skills as each chapter builds the tension ... the anticipation ...higher and higher interspersed with brief quieter interludes that, rather than disrupt the tempo and rhythm of the story, only increase the rush as your emotions are pushed further and further.

Readers of Thomas will truly love this book ... and ... if you're new to the author, I think you will be looking for more of his books once you're done here.

BTW... there is a revelation in the story regarding the origins of the attacks. I did NOT see it coming!!!

ENJOY!!!

Monstrous is just as much fun as the first book

Monstrous is just as much fun as the first book, Savage, in a series from Thomas Sniegoski. A fast paced page turner with more than enough creepy, crawly, scary creatures that cause a sure amount of shivers. A nice mix of characters are struggling to find answers for the strange behavior and mutations of animals and humans. In Savage, the horror takes place in Massachusetts on Benediction Island; Monstrous - infects Boston. Where does it go next?

Thomas Sniegoski delivers another intense thriller. I am looking forward to the next installment.

Action-Packed and Terrifying

Just as action-packed as the first book, this sequel offered a lot more in regards to the beings behind the catastrophes, which continue to be just as vivid, brutal, and frightening as I'd expect from a Sniegoski novel. The story picks up literally the next day from SAVAGE and introduces some new characters (love Delilah!) as they struggle to figure out what's happening and how to endure it. Sidney is back and stronger than ever, and her actions had me biting my nails to the end. Doc Martin and Isaac had a great storyline, and I feel like Cody is starting to mature a little more. Characters aside, Sniegoski continues to create a terrifying, high-adrenaline atmosphere that will make you give any animal a wary eye for a couple seconds in Real Life.

Members Reviews:

It is not easy to follow

This is a truly twisted tale. It is not easy to follow. It took me way longer than usual to finish this series. In the end I really liked the story but, I was not really sure just what was going on a lot of the time. The how and why of shifting from a current time to a fantasy world will keep you wondering just what the heck is going on all the way through most of book 3.

Great story, well written.

I read the first book in the trilogy that a friend had, and had to order the set for myself. I loved it.

What is real?

Amazing! Now even Wyatt isn't sure what is real! The ending was amazing but now I'm on the edge of my seat. What happens now??

Liked it

The thread of the story gets even more complex, and surprising characters keep showing.. I am ready for book three. Good reading.

Great Escape

David Baldacci has given me great entertainment with his adult fiction. However, it may well be that he has found a true calling in writing YA books. I become immersed when I read and sometimes I feel too anxious horrified and sad. Vega Jane and her troop provide excitement and entertainment without the anxiety that can come along with reading fiction that can, or has become , reality.

Disappointing Read!

Unfortunately I abandoned the book! After reading most of Baldacci's novels this one was quite strange and unbelievable. The sort line bordered on fantasy and not what I was expecting! Waiting for another typical Baldacci thriller!

Not normal Baldachi

My mistake thinking this would be a normal Baldachi book.

Not my style at all. Wish I never purchased it. I did so without downloading a sample as I was overseas and needed a new book. I have loved every other Baldachi novel I have read. Not this one!! Couldn't finish it

Vegan Jane

This is a great second novel for this series. What a strange world described by Mr. Baldacci. It was very imaginative and new. One of the best second novels in a series that I have read in some time.

This did not feel or sound like it was written by David Baldacci

This did not feel or sound like it was written by David Baldacci. Too many inconsistencies with the language/dialect...felt like it was written in a hurry. A bit of a disappointment after the first book...The Finisher...which was really excellent. I would read anything/everything David B has written. Hoping book #3, which I recently received, is better!

I'm completely Addicted! Can't wait for the next!

I loved Loved LOVED these books!! I loved getting to see Zanthiel's perspective! I really liked him a lot in the previous books but this insight into who he really is has me seriously reconsidering where my loyalties lie. I loved Adrius but I think I am now officially rooting for the dark side!

I feel so bereft now that I'm done reading all of the books that are out, but I love Lorelei's story so much I'm going to reread them again!! I cannot wait for the rest of the books to be available! It is physically painful to not know how this wonderful story filled with love, secrets, and magic is going to unfold. I am seriously in angst of who will be left standing by Lorelei's side when all is said and done.

worth it but not what you think

Freeze jumped out as a promising addition to the Faerie Song Trilogy. In fact, I didn't even realize it is a novella prior to reading it. After completing it I was left both disappointed and with renewed hope for the third and final book in the series. I didn't love this one, but it reminded me of my love of the characters and also increased my misery because now I am once again waiting for the conclusion of this story! Worth a read if you liked the first two books, but prepare yourself, outside of some insight into Zanthiel's character, you won't get much more.

Review

If this is the first book you read from this series or author, skip it. Really looking forward to the conclusion of the plot that began with book 1; instead, I got a short story that was all over the place, confusing, off topic, grammar and spelling errors and then had an abrupt ending that really wasn't a transition at all and make me wish I'd never bothered with the short story at all. Very disappointed!

Zanthiel is the true dark hero.

I was happy with the union of Adrius and Lorelei. It seemed written in the stars. Until these written words portraying the inner heart of the real hero. The dark knight of the trilogy. Zanthiel is flawed. He is everything that's wrong for Lorelei, yet he is her perfect match. His dedication and vow is beyond his own life. The dark Prince deserves his Queen of light.

Thats it ?

I loved this trilogy but the ending keeps me wanting more . i feel as im in the book with them . there needs to be a follow up to go with this .

Title: Hearts & Other Body Parts

Author: Ira Bloom

Narrator: Lauren Fortgang

Format: Unabridged

Length: 10 hrs and 56 mins

Language: English

Release date: 04-01-17

Publisher: Scholastic Audio

Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 3 votes

Genres: Teens, Sci-Fi & Fantasy

Publisher's Summary:

A novel of love and monsters.

Sisters Esme, Katy, and Ronnie are smart, talented, and gorgeous, and better yet...all three are witches. They have high school wired until the arrival of two new students. The first is Norman, who is almost eight feet tall and appears to be constructed of bolts and mismatched body parts. Despite his intimidating looks, Esme finds herself strangely - almost romantically - drawn to both his oversized brain and oversized heart.

The second new arrival is Zack, an impossibly handsome late transfer from the UK who has the girls at school instantly mesmerized. Soon even sensible Esme has forgotten Norman, and all three sisters are in a flat-out hex war to win Zack. But while the magic is flying, only Norman seems to notice that students who wander off alone with Zack end up with crushed bones and memory loss. Or worse, missing entirely.

Hearts and Other Body Parts is a wickedly addictive novel about love, monsters, and loyalty. And oh yeah, a Japanese corpse-eating demon cat.

Members Reviews:

Very interesting and kept me wanting more.

The book is very interesting. It kept me on the edge of my seat not knowing what was next with its interesting plot and characters. This book is one of its own and has me waiting for more releases from this author.

a wild, fun read

Hearts and Other Body Parts is an enjoyable read filled with originality, humor, suspense, and characters like you have never met! Perfect for teens, but adults should like this page turner too.

Freaky, Fun & Fast-Paced Read!

Fast-paced and fabulously fun, Hearts & Other Body Parts is a freaky fusion of folklore that completely rocks my socks. Fantasy, science-fiction and a bit of magic combine to capture, then carry you along the remarkable ride. With the emphasis on âscienceâ, some of this fiction feels frighteningly plausible.

The three sisters that center the story are quintessential siblings in the best ways possible. Unique enough for interesting exchanges, their common ground allows them to create a formidable front when needed. Norman, the new kid (whose full name is spectacularly perfect) is a gentle giantâin the most literal senseâbut, his size is the least shocking attribute of his appearance.

Generally, students in small town schools divide into two groups when a new kid arrives: instant fans seeking something different or rowdy ruffians refusing change. Not so when Norman enters the picture. All eyes focus on him, the same expression on every face. Mouths hang open in wonder, revulsion and fear. When Esme joins Norman at the lunch table on his first day, he knew things would be different here; but even his peculiar past could not have prepared him for what was coming.

Zack erases Normanâs new-kid status and creates a fandom in the student body. Girls surround Zack like fog, floating on his every word. Intelligent as well as wise, Norman is not captivated by Zackâs charms; instead he is suspicious. Reports of missing girls convince Norman that Esme and her sisters, who have absolutely abandoned him to hover around Zack, are in imminent danger.
