After Nick Martino (possibly the hottest guy she's ever known) finally asks her out, she can barely manage a two-word sentence when a bizarre incident strikes their lakeside town. Stumbling bare-foot through some interesting dates, will she ever find love? And what does Ruby do when more strange events continue to occur? Will she keep her gift of Fairy Sight a secret? As an ancient myth unfolds and new mystic fairy tales come to life, Ruby and her menagerie of friends tackle some extraordinary circumstances with her very ordinary abilities in this modern day fairy tale. See what legends come to life in Ruby Blue, a young adult fantasy fiction novel and the first installment of the Ruby Blue series.

The voice of this book makes you believe you are there
This is a great book. It is a book that you can read and listen to and then let your kids listen to as well. It brings out your imagination and has you wondering if you could have ever run into some fairy folk and not known about it.
I would highly recommend getting this audio book, it is a book that you will want to read more than once.
    Take me to Kansas!!!
I LOVE this book!!! In truth, I've read it before. Loved it and once it became available on Audible I bought it instantly.
You know that first bite into insanely good chocolate cake?? Maybe it's a little warm and has a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top too. Well, that's what this book is like! It hooks you. It is so perfect and you won't be able to stop with just one bite! (Thankfully you don't have to with her follow up books Deja Blue, Sky Blue, Forever Blue and finally the companion book to Forever Blue, Forever Kansas.) It will have you putting on your favorite pair of converse and going on this amazing journey with Ruby....not to mention the fairies, dragons, and many more Fae friends, faster than a soda-pop can fizz! ;) So how can you not get this?? You can't... trust me. You want to add it to your collection of books that will never get dust on them because they are too loved!!!
    Happy listening!!!
    Magical!
This is the first book in a fantastic YA fantasy series. I loved it!
Ruby Blue is a fantastic character. I really liked her. Ruby is seventeen years old, though she comes across as younger. She is a typical teen, a little angst-y, with an addiction to Converse shoes and ice-cream, but her ability to see fairies is what sets her apart. Her fairy friends are Anya and Brennan; they have been friends since Ruby was five.
I originally read and reviewed this book in 2012. When I heard that it had been made into an audiobook in April this year, I became excited and decided to download it to see if it was as good as I remembered. It was. The audiobook is narrated by Mysti Jording, who did an excellent job in giving Ruby and the other characters a voice. She has a young, pleasant voice that suited the tone of the story.
I became hooked into the story once more. I had forgotten how much I had enjoyed meeting Anya, Brennan and Jeremy for the first time. The story takes the reader on an adventure full of action and danger, with drama and romance aplenty in this book, as well as splashes of humour that kept me giggling.

    refreshing new take on fantsy
Great story, good characters, lots of action. My only complaint is that the characters were introduced too narrowly and it made them hard to figure out as to their importance. The writing was well done and was properly edited. I was pleased at the originality she had in development of the book.
    I highly recommend this book.

    not a vampire story
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
would have been a 4 star but is a cliff hanger
    Which scene was your favorite?
Super Dark (Super Dark #1) by Tanith Morse is a book I picked up thinking it might be a comedy judging the cover of the book. Well, it is not. I liked it despite it not being a comedy. It was an odd book, not in a bad way, just unique. I liked that. No, there were not vampires but.... It was good and creepy in a weird way. It is a good read but it was cliff hanger, ugh. I would have given it 4 stars but cliff hangers really rub me raw so I am giving it 3.
Could you see Super Dark 1 being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
    no

    Publisher's Summary:
When 16-year-old Cheyenne Hawkins tries to ignore the fact that she is different than other kids her age, she learns the hard way that life can spiral out of control, and people can get hurt, even die, when she goes with the flow rather than facing the truth. For Cheyenne, a teenage triplet living in the Washington, D.C. suburbs, life has recently begun to take a strange turn. Things were crazy enough with the insanely hot new guy in her life that comes with a mysterious past; her nosy, showboating brothers constantly interfering in her love life and flirting with her friends; her sister's mixed martial arts activities; and her old friend getting jumped and being hospitalized.
As if balancing all of that with homework and softball wasn't enough, she suddenly seems to possess some sort of bizarre ability: the ability to see or feel things about people - usually frightening things that she definitely doesn't want to see or feel. Danger and violence seem to be looming everywhere. Are these visions real or her imagination? What does it all mean? And why does it seem like her Aunt Fabulous knows something about it?

Good Start To A Teen Series
I enjoyed listening to this audiobook. I love teen genre. The characters were interesting and well developed. It was a laid back story with very little drama and action for most of it.
This book describes everyday normal teen days with a little intrigue about Cheyenne and her flash visions when she touches someone. She doesn't understands what is going on until towards the end which finally picks up with some drama, action, and suspense.
The narrator did a great job bringing the story to life. The story is told in Cheyenne's POV. The story was a bit too slow for me but I'm hoping the next book will be more exciting with more intriguing and suspenseful things happening.
**This audiobook was provided free of charge in exchange for my honest unbiased opinion**
A step into the mind and life of a teenager
I really enjoyed this audiobook. It was the first one I've listened to that didn't threaten to put me to sleep as I drove. Stepping into the life of a teenager for a few hours was a great way to pass the time more quickly.
The reader did a good job capturing the different personalities and providing added interest through her performance. And she had great material to work with.
The descriptions in the book were so vivid I could imagine I was right there with Cheyenne, the main character, every step of the way, seeing what she saw, experiencing what she experienced, worrying about her fears and concerns.
Near the end of the book, the suspense increased substantially and I found myself gripping the steering wheel more tightly, anxious for Cheyenne as she faced scary situations and tried to understand how everything fits together - her new talent, her friends, her family, and figuring out who the "good guys" are.
The stage is set for great adventures ahead and I can't wait to see what happens next!

The Adventures Continue...and Troubles are Brewing
The Memory's Wake Trilogy is a fantastic series of adventures by Selina Fenech. Em Eldridge is back for narrating the story and voicing the characters in Hope's Reign: she does another wonderful job telling the story.
We join Memory, Lory, Roen, and Will as they all adjust after the events in Memory's Wake (the first book of three). A kingdom needs managed, there's the Fae to contend with and the council. Our main characters are trying to find themselves, how to best do what needs done, all without losing each other along the way. And someone is trying to ruin things and drive friends apart to achieve their own gains. Sound nerve wracking...it sure is!
Just so you know, there are a couple of rough spots due to situations the characters encounter. They are written well, just tough situations our characters have to deal with. Memory's past is told tastefully, but she had a bad time in the regular world.
The hardest one for me was a suicide and an attempt. This never used to bother me, however after losing someone close to it, I really don't like to read about it, I don't even like the word. However, I certainly did not want to miss out on the rest of the book just because of this! As they are caused by magical influence from an evil character it was much easier to read those parts of the story. This is no reflection on the story, it's just me. I'm just putting this forewarning out for any reader with a similar perspective.
I loved meeting new characters, and their added banter. I was secretly making mental notes about figuring out who was going to be a nasty in the end. I was on edge, waiting to hear what happened next, hoping for the best, laughing at other bits, and smiling through many moments.
Thanks for the story Selina, and especially for making it available as an audiobook. Can't wait for Providence Unveiled to be available too.

    Publisher's Summary:
Centuries after the Fall, the United States has been wiped away. The crumbling remains of the great American empire are home now only to savage, lawless tribes and packs of ravening Damned - the twisted children of the apocalypse. Most of those few who survived humanity's destruction spend their short lives in a violent struggle for survival. But some light still flickers in the darkness: the Blessed of Bountiful live in seclusion, relying on walls both physical and spiritual to protect them from the Desolation that their world has become.
Among them are the Saints, those few men and women born with superhuman abilities that the Blessed see as gifts from God. The violent apostate tribes of the Northeast Kingdom have always been a danger, but up until recently its small size and the vigilance of its people have made Bountiful an unappealing target. As attacks on the community grow harsher and more frequent, however, even the steadfast Blessed are forced to start preparing for the worst.
With her home's very existence threatened, 17-year-old Ever Oaks, a Saint with the power to heal, is forced to make a difficult choice, one that may come to define her people's future.
    Members Reviews:
YA Post-apoc SF thats not quite dystopian
    Real Rating: 3.5*
SERIES INFO: This is Book #1 in the Book of Ever series which, according to the author, is planned as a trilogy. Book #2, which will be titled Extinction will be out sometime in 2016.
Im not labeling this one as dystopian because I felt that, despite its flaws and the dissatisfaction of some of its citizens, neither the founders nor current leaders of Bountiful were malevolent or deliberately oppressive. No society is perfect, and there will always be those who feel they dont quite fit in (especially among the young).
Ever (18): is a Saint (someone gifted with supernatural powers) living in a fundamentalist religious society. She starts out with the ability to heal and begins to develop additional gifts along the way. She chafes against both the restrictions on women inherent in her society and the narrowness of her world, necessitated by very real dangers from outside. While her abilities are definitely special, she isnt obnoxiously over talented. I like that she has a reasonable amount of self-defense & weapon skills for someone living in a dangerous world but isnt unusually skilled. There are things she has to depend on others to do.
Jared (17): At first, like Ever, I disliked him. But he quickly proved his caring nature and determination to do the right thing. While he may have been a bit over competent for his age, his emotional responses seemed appropriate. He wasnt controlling or dismissive. He let her do what she was good at and contributed his own skills to the mix.
Ever & Jared: I understand why she doesnt really consider herself to be married, but their relationship was still a bit disturbing. They support each other with words & actions, and I liked them together; but I would like to have had more interaction between them earlier on, to develop the relationship. Note: it is clear from the beginning that something is going to happen with them, so it isnt really a spoiler to discuss it.
Erlan: (Evers sort of husband) - deserves no mention; I seriously dont understand him.
At first I had to write down the full names of Evers traveling companions, since sometimes they were called by their first names and sometimes by their last.
