Life is simple, right? You are born, you live, and you die. Or at least that is the way it is supposed to happen. But what if...what if you get a second chance to live a life that was taken from you, the life that you were supposed to live? The life that you have no memory of? And what if you had known love, real love? Would you give it a second chance, or would you consider loyalty to family over true love?
Being a teenager isn't supposed to be complicated, right? But when Abigail Watson's mother marries a stranger and moves her across country into a manor, a place that would be fitting for Dracula, Abby soon starts to have nightmares. Abby then meets a mysterious boy who seems to know all about Abby and the family that she has been inducted into. From the moment she meets Ethan she feels connected to him, there is something about him that is so familiar, so safe. But Ethan has secrets, secrets he doesn't want to share, and he will have to make a choice if he wants to keep history from repeating itself.

Power and politics, heartbreak and danger, magic and mermaids - Lucy must conquer it all in the compelling conclusion to the enchanting series that began with Chantress and continued with Chantress Alchemy.
With a song Lucy can control the wind and the water; she can bring castles and kingdoms to their feet. Since Lucy mastered her powers, King Henry has kept her close. And now he's called her to investigate attempted murder - by a mermaid. All Lucy can glean from the creature they've captured is a warning: The sea is coming. We are coming. And we will drown you all.
And then the floods begin. Swaths of London are submerged as the people scramble to defend themselves against the water, and the monsters, that are flooding their streets. As mistrust of Lucy's magic grows, the king relies on Nat, Lucy's great love, to guide them through the storm. But Nat is cold and distant to Lucy. He swore his love only a year before, but now he calls her stranger. Lucy is determined to defeat this powerful new magic alone if she must. But then she hears an eerie song within the water.... Can it mean she is not the last Chantress after all?

    A world you'll never forget.
Chantress Fury, the final book in Amy Butler Greenfields YA historical fantasy trilogy, continues in the same vein as its two predecessors. Its beautifully written, gorgeously detailed, deeply emotional and romantic. Greenfields writing is elegant and perfectly polished. Its something I always admired about her her style is graceful and flawless without being flashy or disruptive. She also does a lot of research, so even though her story is filled with magic, it is loosely based in reality. King Henry in Lucys story is Henry Seymour, an actual historical figure and a distant relative to King Charles I.
Chantress Fury takes place in the early 1670s and the world Greenfield paints for us is gorgeous: a dash of court politics, a formidable enemy, considerable magic and a romance to remember. Lucy truly discovers her powers in this book, but with such powers come solitude and isolation. People either fear her or want to use her in some way, and besides, King Henry leaves her very little time to socialize. Lucys loneliness was heartbreaking in this book and the amount of emotion that came through made me admire Greenfield even more.
I mentioned the romance, which I loved from the start, but oddly enough it was Furys weakest point. I wanted to see a united front from Lucy and Nat, but instead I saw stubbornness and a whole lot of misunderstandings. Truly these two needed to talk things through and face their enemies together, instead of fretting over silly things and being pigheaded and proud.
Mary Jane Wells narrates the story beautifully, just like the previous two. She has a soft British accent and a really pleasant voice, which is just right for our Lucy. She was able to convey and even amplify the feeling of loneliness and isolation. She mostly narrates stories Im not really interested in (some historical romances, for example), but I hope shell get a chance to read more YA. She is truly wonderful.
Minor grievances with romance aside, the Chantress trilogy is everything you could ever hope to read.

In this hilarious, action-packed conclusion to The Ever-Expanding Universe trilogy, teen mom Elvie Nara is on a quest across the universe to save her daughter (and maybe stop an alien race war in the process).
After dealing with killer whales, evil scientists, the return of her long-lost mother, and, certainly not least of all, the challenges of breastfeeding, Elvie Nara has just about had it. And then the Jin'Kai (along with the aforementioned estranged mom) kidnap her baby. And before she knows it, another Jin'Kai attack puts her on the run again, but not before discovering that Olivia was implanted with a genetic tracking device.
So along with Cole, Ducky, and her dad, Elvie goes back out into space to follow the signal. There, she finds evil Dr. Marsden up to some evil tricks and realizes that Mars may hold the secret to defeating her enemies once and for all. So, off to Mars she goes. Because alien race war aside, Elvie really wants to be back with her daughter. For a kid she wasn't even sure she wanted, Olivia has come to mean the world to Elvie - and she'll search the universe to be with her again.

    A perfect conclusion!
As the final part of the Ever Expanding Universe series, The World Forgot is a joyous read. Whereas Mothership flipped back and forth from the present to the past, and A Stranger Thing was like a speeding train, building up speed/plot and then finally going full tilt, The World Forgot picks up the pieces of A Stranger Thing and molds them into a coherent, fast-paced story that leaves no question unanswered. We see the emotional end to Elvie Nara's tale and it is one most people can easily relate to. At two points this novel delivers two major blows to the plot, wrenching your heart away only to restore it and provide you with the necessary closure.
Personally, for the whole series, it would have been nice to have more vivid character physical descriptions. We get tidbits here and there but nothing major. In The World Forgot, we learn that Elvie is part Japanese, as evidenced by her eyes, something not mentioned in the other two books. Beyond descriptions of Cole Archer (the deuteragonist), we are only given a few descriptions for other major characters, like Ducky and Mr. Nara.
This fun sci-fi series does not disappoint and manages to suck the reader in. All three books have a part that is so suspenseful you almost have to walk away from the book because it is too much to read, yet it draws you in. All three books have great humor and accurate imagery, especially with regards to the evolving subject matter. My finally nitpick has to do with a few established characters not returning. It would have been nice to see two in particular reappear, especially when they were teased to the reader. Though beyond that, I have nothing else to say, these are just wonderful books and I will gleefully reread them when I can.
... read the other book in the series and really enjoyed it. That made me want this part of ...
I read the other book in the series and really enjoyed it. That made me want this part of the series. After reading it, I have to say it was not worth the money or time. I do not recomment it.
Not as good or exciting as the first of the series
    Typical of middle books.

    Members Reviews:
    Great Read!!!
Ignite was the first book I cracked open and I was glad I did. I havenât read many books about angels and demons, so I went into Ignite unsure of what to expect. It grabbed me from the very start and kept me turning page after page well into the wee hours of the morning, much to my own dismay the next day when Graham woke me up bright and early. Honestly, though I regret nothing.
Ignite is the tale of Penemuel, a fallen angel turned demon who isnât comfortable with her new life. Unlike her twin brother, Azael, who has taken to being a demon very well, Pen questions her choices and if she is in line with Hellâs agenda. It is only when Michael the Archangel returns, with no memory of his past, that Pen is pushed into figuring out what it is she wants. Whether it is good or evil or something in between, Penemuel is forced to choose between heaven and hell, light and dark, and much more.
I give Ignite four out of five stars because sometimes it felt as if the story was moving at a slower pace than necessary. The pacing issue aside, Ignite doesnât feel like a debut novel to me. The characters are expertly crafted, making me feel that this was written by a more mature author. I love the interaction between Pen and Michael, it is innocent and felt like a classic love story. Besides the pacing issue, this novel is a beautifully written, dynamic work of fiction.

    Dark and Unique
Ignite by Erica Crouch is a beautifully written unique fallen angel story. The characters were just as fantastic as the writing. Ignite is an extremely addicting story as well, when I wasn't reading it I was thinking about reading it. The romance was incredible and had me swooning over Michael. I absolutely adore fallen angel stories in YA and I have read plenty of them; Ignite is definitely up there with my favorites.
Ignite takes place in a modern setting, but I loved that as an angel/demon story Erica Crouch retold some of biblical history. Fallen angel, angel, and demon stories in YA are very numerous, but Ignite is a unique spin told from the point of view of a demon, Pen. The P.O.V of Pen makes Ignite more of a darker edgier story.
Erica Crouch's writing is utterly gorgeous. The flow of the words is so smooth and beautiful. The writing style characterizes Pen even more. Pen has an affinity for literature making Erica Crouch's poetic style even more amazing.
For the first half of the novel, I loved the sibling bond between Azael and Pen. Their sibling bond was protective yet playful and their banter was hysterical.

Eight teenagers escape imprisonment at a work camp to brave the wilderness. Tested to their limits, they struggle to survive their terrifying dash for freedom.
After the total collapse of the world economy, the United States could not stand together. So they failed separately. In the small region-state of Winnkota, poverty and greed are turning the idyllic Northwoods of Minnesota into a barren wasteland of clear-cut forests and over-fished lakes. Every able-bodied teenager is conscripted into a labor force and sent to work in harsh, prison-like conditions. They are enslaved young so they never learn to think for themselves. But Penn is different. He's determined to win back freedom - for himself, his friends, and someday for his homeland.
On a cold autumn night, the group makes their dash for freedom north of the border. The fugitives endure a series of difficult wilderness challenges while pursued by the ruthless camp guards. They weave through dense forest, scale cliffs, swim through the bitterly cold lakes, and otherwise try simply to survive. Pushing his friends to the breaking point, Penn guides the fugitives through a harsh, but ironically beautiful, backdrop of amazing Northwoods scenery. Adversity and loss abound, all while an unexpected physical attraction leads to a burgeoning love story.
Should any of them survive to reach the border, will the freedom found equal all that they expected?

    Any additional comments?
This is a story about survival and perseverance. This group of kids has unbelievable determination, and even when theyre kicked in the teeth, they dont give up. The author has done a wonderful job at bringing the reader into the story. At times I felt excitement and found myself cheering them on. At times of loss, I wanted to cry with the group. Its a well-written story that flows well with strong characters. The narration is fantastic with sound effects that bring the story to life. The author intended the book for young adults, but it certainly knows no age limits for likeability.

    Great Audio Performance
This story was entertaining, although it dragged on slowly at some points. The excellent narrating made up for it, though!
The Audiobook adds an additional level of exciteme
What made the experience of listening to Keeper's Quest the most enjoyable?
I really enjoyed the Keeper's Saga series but the audiobook adds a whole new level of excitement to the story. Chase Harper's adventures become even more thrilling, compelling and there is even more love and strength with the verbal telling of the story. I started this series because it was one my daughter and I could read together but Kelly Nelson kept me hooked with her unique story line, plenty of twists and turns and a sweet, deep love story that is the center of the Keeper's Quest. If you enjoy the excitement of youth and young adventure then I highly recommend this series and the audiobooks.
