    Publisher's Summary:
A safety expert reveals why few of us are as careful as we think we are and what we can do about it.
The modern world can be a dangerous place, filled with fast cars, smartphones, new drugs, and thrill sports. Meanwhile, we humans are as fragile as ever. In fact after a century of steady improvement, injuries and accidental deaths are on the rise.
Steve Casner has devoted his career to studying the psychology of safety, and he knows there's not a safety warning we won't ignore or a foolproof device we can't turn into an implement of disaster.
Careful! is a user's guide to our injury-prone minds. It helps us understand why we do things like insist on the fat-free salad dressing but then text and drive. Casner explains the psychological traps that can lead us to the scene of an accident. They're the same whether you're a pilot, a Hollywood stuntwoman, a parent, or the owner of a clogged dishwasher you're trying to fix with a screwdriver. Then Casner shows us how and when the injuries happen, so we know exactly what we should really be worrying about.
Casner's book helps us keep our fingers attached in the kitchen, our kids afloat at the pool, and our teens safe behind the wheel and shows us many other ways we can take control of our own safety and get through the day in one piece.

    Great!
love it. Helped me to understand my husband. Unfortunately I can't subject myself to it
good tips and clear explanation of the topic!
Excellent book about how to protect yourself from entrapment from a narcissist. Clearly written and easily understood. A must read for anyone who is in a relationship or has been in a relationship with a narcissist. Answers many questions and makes things clear. I liked it very much. It's one of the first books I read about Narcissism & I learned much. It's very important to know little how an Abuser thinks & why he/she behaves the way they do !!
    Guide to Narcissistic Personality
It was very informative in explaining the person in your life. However, it tended to deal with specific info on spousal relationships. If this is not what you are interested, there is a lot of material you may have to skip over. I had hoped it was more generalized and practical, for those you would apply it to. But, educational, none the less!
Having a co-worker that was and still is, self-absorbed, I needed to understand and deal with this personal personality. This book is a tremendous help. I highly recommend this book!
    Learning about narcissistic personality disorder

Complete and very readable for the lay person.
    Great listening -Very informative!
    I found it helpful
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes Surely i'll recommend this book.. Good tool for learning about narcissistic personality disorder. Personally, I knew about the majority of this info before I bought it. If you are just learning about the disorder, this book is for you though!
What was one of the most memorable moments of Narcissist?
I found it quite helpful. I feel I can better understand people with these difficulties. Specially helpful for me was the concept of narcissistic supply, apparently the driving motive behind a narcissist's behavior.

    lifesaver
I have read all three of his books and they have been so beneficial to me I feel like I am getting my life back.
    easy to follow
After being in a rehabilitation program that focuses on CBT, this book is a great refresher to help after you leave. I had a more severe case of anxiety and depression which required a more inpatient program. After I left, I struggled to keep up with the daily activities that I needed to do. This book was great to help me keep on track. I highly recommend if you can't go to into a program but want to learn the same information
    practical book
What i loved about this book is how practical it is.
It clarified the theory they have for CBT! But at the same time gave very clear instructions on what one can do to APPLY this theory.
I read many books on CBT, and this was the best by far...
I would recommend you download the CBT application from the app. Store, its a GREAT tool to apply the thinking strategy of CBT in a structured way.
    excellent book
I work in the mental health field and have had training on CBT and seen the results of this type of therapy. I found the book to be very easy to understandable. If a person cannot (or will not) attend therapy in person this seems like the next best thing, especially if the depression and/or anxiety is not already too debilitating. Some people will need the professional help. If someone you love would benefit from CBT then you should have this book as well. You will be better able to support this person if you understand the process, and you may find that you yourself will benefit from the skills learned. This is a workbook with room for you to enter information and thoughts. This will allow you to see growth and change on your journey to getting your life back. I really enjoyed this book but that might be because I already know that it can be a success story
    nice book
This is nice and it helps sort out your feelings keeps you thinking and motivated to complete things and keeps me going in the direction I need to be in. Pacing yourself is key and the follow through on your part is as well. Good book if you can commit yourself to some self love

    Publisher's Summary:
What is it that makes you "you"? What produces your likes and dislikes, fear and fantasies? What makes you different from other people, and what makes you the same as them? For thousands of years, people have tried to identify the spirit, soul, or mind that makes us human. And they have tried to work out how and why it makes our identity. Answers have ranged from the physiological to the psychological - the influence of early experiences and upbringing. The study of psychology, which emerged from philosophy during the 19th century, addresses such questions as what makes us what we are as individuals; how we learn, know, and reason; whether we have any innate knowledge or are born with a mind that is a "blank slate"; whether we have freewill; and what is the balance between nature and nurture in forging the individual. Experiments in psychology often probe the darker recesses of the mind - how cruel will we be? How important is it to fit in? How far can the mind be tricked? Author Anne Rooney brings together the threads that have made up psychology, from the musings of the ancient Greeks to the findings of functional MRI scanning. The Story of Psychology is a narrative of how we have tried to approach the very core of our being - of what makes us ourselves.

Genres: Science & Technology, Psychology & The Mind
    Publisher's Summary:
The Psychopathology of Everyday Life, which appeared first in 1901 and was then expanded in a series of subsequent editions, has proved to be one of Freud's most popular works, and one of his most influential during his lifetime. It was here that he proposed that many slips and errors of memory common to the average man in everyday life actually signals unconscious issues that beset the individual, and, if examined, can be extremely revealing. Freud opens the work with the following statement: 'During the year 1898 I published a short essay on the Psychic Mechanism of Forgetfulness. I shall now repeat its contents and take it as a starting-point for further discussion. I have there undertaken a psychologic analysis of a common case of temporary forgetfulness of proper names, and from a pregnant example of my own observation I have reached the conclusion that this frequent and practically unimportant occurrence of a failure of a psychic function - of memory - admits an explanation which goes beyond the customary utilization of this phenomenon.' This 'phenomenon' was a personal matter for Freud himself. He observed its frequent and varied appearance as an important tool in his psychoanalytic work. He analyses the subject through 12 chapters, including Forgetting of Proper Names, Foreign Words, Childhood and Concealing Memories, Mistakes in Speech, Reading and Writing, Erroneously Carried-out Actions, and Determinism, Chance and Superstitious Beliefs. The Psychopathology of Everyday Life is a key work in psychology and psychoanalysis, yet very accessible. It is presented in a clear and direct manner by Derek Le Page.
