Publisher's Summary:
Few actors in Hindi cinema have had Rishi Kapoor's sort of a career arc: from the gawky adolescent pining for his schoolteacher (Mera Naam Joker, 1970) to the naughty 90-year-old (Kapoor & Sons, 2016), Rishi Kapoor has regaled audiences for close to 50 years. He won a National Award for his debut, became an overnight sensation with his first film as a leading man (Bobby, 1973), and carved a niche for himself with a string of romantic musical blockbusters in an era known for its angst-ridden films. He was the youth icon that is still the toast of the satellite TV circuit. The songs he lip-synced are the bread and butter of all radio stations even today. Then there was the second coming after a brief hiatus in the 1990s - as one of the finest actors in mainstream Hindi cinema with powerhouse performances in films like Do Dooni Chaar, D-Day, Agneepath and others.
Characteristically candid, Rishi Kapoor brings Punjabi brio to the writing of Khullam Khulla. This is as up close and personal a biography as any fan could have hoped for. He writes about growing up in the shadow of a legendary father, skipping school to act in Mera Naam Joker, the workings of the musical hits of the era, an encounter with Dawood Ibrahim, his heroines (their working relationship, the gossip and the frisson that was sometimes real), his approach to his craft, his tryst with clinical depression, and more.
A foreword by Ranbir Kapoor and a stirring afterword by Neetu Singh bookend the warmest, most dil se biography an Indian star has ever penned.

Very Khullam Khulla
Great read. Rishiji really did not hold back and was very open about many things. This is the kind of openness one would wish to have from other stars as well. He talks about growing up a Kapoor, the beginnings of his career, the music of his films, his relationships with various co-stars, his relationship with his wife, his "second innings" as an actor, and being a father. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and hope other actors are that open as well.

Khullam Khulla is an interesting tale of Indian movie industry. Rishi Kapoor reveals some unheard stories and it is quite fascinating to read how the older generation used to work in the industry. The stories of friendship and betrayal are engaging and though written by a movie star, still resemble an average person's life.
Loved it..
I am from the 80 when rishi kapoor was still relevant but having said that I still think I would have enjoyed this book even if I was younger. It's as honest and candid as any star from that era would dare to be.He states his follies with as much candour as his accomplishments.Loved the anecdotes from his childhood his youth as well as his present. As a reader it gave me a glimpse of 3 generations of an illustrious film family for the price of one!!.Truly a life filled with great experiences.
Brutally honest! Very candid.
Brutally honest. Not only rishon kapoor but his wife in the Afterword has been equally honest and candid.
A good read with a good pace. Well written

This book has many details and straight talks. But it has only those issues that the writer wanted to talk about. He knew there were many other important stories he was leaving behind which people want to know and that is not fair.
