Publisher's Summary:
Let me share some wisdom with you. There is evil in this world we cannot see, not because it is hidden from us, but because our minds refuse to accept its existence. But once we are able to get past what everyone says should not be, it becomes our responsibility to stop the evil we now see.
This insight wasn't given to me until a year after I lost the most important person in my life: Bryce Rowan. Now, after another death at the same spot where he died-the overlook, where the mysterious lights dance amongst the trees-I begin to wonder if they were accidents after all.
Lucky for me, I'm not the only curious one in town. Cooper, a ghost hunter (aka chaser), and his sister Jada have moved to town and are starting to ask questions.
But the more we find out about this town and the people who live here, people who I have known my whole life, the more I begin to think there are those who would rather keep the evil secret, even if it means we will never be safe, and that more will die.

Enjoyable Read
I enjoyed the book. Character and story development was good and I connected with the main characters and stayed on track with the story line.
The reveal behind the mystery could have been supported a bit more by lacing a few more of the details throughout the story and it could have added a bit more "pow" to it. It felt a little rushed and unconnected, but not so much it was dissatisfying. I also got a little lost with all the family connection explanations, but paid enough attention to get the point.
Overall, was an enjoyable read and the writing was above par for many of these freebies (thank you!!). I don't think I rolled my eyes even once :-)
but I love it! Compelling
Haven't even finished the book yet, but I love it! Compelling, creepy, but hopeful.
I REALLY hope there's a follow up! Loved this
This surprised me by being a really good read. It took a little bit to get into it, and it was a little confusing at first, but it all came together not too far into it & it kept my attention. The story centers on Jo, a teenager who's seen horrors a kid should never see. Her friends Millie, Kirk, and her brother Tyler are trying to help her maintain some semblance of normalcy. But she's seen things she can't explain that terrify her. Enter Cooper, an annoyance at first, that helps Jo in more ways than one. He explains what she's seeing. Why it's there. Teaches her to fight it. You have so much going on in this short-ish read that you're not bored. You have your laugh out loud moments (I LOVE Jo's attitude!), your whoa moments, and tears. Oh yes, there are tears. I love how the characters come alive & become real. I *really* hope there's a follow-up book, cause this was really good. And the ending left you wanting more. I want to know what happens in Louisiana! So all in all, a little bit slow to start with, but it picks up & keeps your attention. Once it picks up, it's fast paced and really throws some curveballs on what you think is going to happen.
