A Charming Story
I was lucky enough to stumble on to this book recently and found it to be an enjoyable read. Ms. Noire is a very good writer and keeps you interested all the way through. Her characters are compelling including Ogden and Terrence, and I especially enjoyed Nora's character and they way she kept doubting herself. The book was charming and I would recommend this to any reader age 14+ who loves books that are funny, smart, and have an occult leaning (witches and wizards and all that).
Compelling storyline, strong characters
Itâs been a long time since I read a YA novel that wasnât a sci fi fantasy, so I wasnât really sure what to expect with Pagan Eyes. Truth be told, I expected to be a tad bored.
I was anything but bored. I found the story compelling and the characters engaging. I thought the author did a particularly good job of addressing the aftermath of physical assault in a way that didnât make the heroine sound like a simpering coward. Nor did I think it went to far for the average youth audience. Itâs not a story I would have had a problem with my 13-year-old daughter reading.
The only drawback of the story was that the main characters complained a bit much about religious intolerance and then went on to express her opinions (to herself) in a way that seemed a little intolerant. But then characters canât and shouldnât be perfect so one can only hope she grows out of it.
Nora's time story
Revelation is book two of the Pagan eyes series and follows Leah's older sister Nora on her own time traveling adventure.
After The Incident in high school, Nora closed off her heart. She's studied hard at school to become a nurse, fending off the advances of any and all males looking her way. The rape made her question the intentions of all men. Until she meets Clayton in a dream of the past.
Clayton claims to be her soul mate, separated from her across centuries. He needs her help, medically, and that need was urgent enough to call her to him. Except, they're still split in time, and Nora's finding all along that she might have been a little hasty in judging all men by those jerks from high school.
This book deals with some heavy topics, including rape. It's such a prevalent theme that its implications and consequences fill every page. Nora is healing, mostly, but she's still got some harsh judgements.
Witchy mystery
A multi-faceted story - mystery, thriller, comedy, para-normal, and romance.
