Inspiring stories

Listening to each individual made me hopeful for many others that may make the leap out of faith

Listen to Linda, skip Daniel Dennett

For those who have lost their faith or are weighing it up this book might be comforting as you will hear stories from pastors, chaplains, rabbis etc who have lost their faith while still entrenched in their jobs.

These stories, which are often quoted verbatim by Linda LaScola are quite interesting , although you may have varying degrees of empathy for the people telling their stories, considering some of them are still swindling their congregations by not coming clean, hiding behind the excuse they need their job / income, or are cynically and dishonestly holding out for their pensions.

The half of the book written / narrated by Linda LaScola is by far the more interesting part of the book. The alternating chapters are a collection of Daniel Dennett pieces which are fairly boring - this is the second Dennett book I have ready / listened to recently and he's got far less substance (and style) to offer than the other 3 of the "Four Horseman" of Atheism. If you've read a Dennett book before, feel free to skip his chapters as they are a boring re-hash of things he's said before that were just as boring the first time around.

Simply Excellent

I've read most of the books by the "four horsemen", but this one stands out. It creates a sense of empathy for the clergy, both present and former. I highly recommend this book for both theists and nontheists, alike.

i read the negative feedback about performance and thought it was fine after listening. the subject matter is interesting to me because of my religous background but i dont know if everyone finds clergy who stop believing an interesting topic. its good research they did for the book.

The narrators. I understand that publishers want to get the authors of the book to provide the narration, but here it was a very bad choice.

It is a great book!

I already read this book before and it is really great! But one thing that I don't like is when a book starts talking about the same things. For example, most of those books about spirits go back to the same subject all the time. The introduction! If you have not read the first ones to get to know the religion, there is no point of you reading this one. Start with the book of spirits.

This is just what I needed to hear

This is a very solid and accessible introduction to the definition and path of shamanism. It is exactly what I needed to hear at this point in time to make sense of the world. I highly recommend it.

Overall: Okay.

While I did find the information helpful, this was more of a podcast conversation than an audio book. Was a little off putting at first.

That being said it was still an interesting listen.

Very informative and interesting

The book is simply a recording of the author talking about Shamanism. What it is, what it means to be a Shamen, what is needed and required. It is truthful, practical and very informative. It gives a lot to think about., I found it very interesting.

I resonated so much with Robin Rice it's as if she was speaking to me personally and new what I was going through. I can tell just by the words she uses that she is the real deal.

I will listen to this book over and over again! Not only is the content intriguing but Craig Beck (the author) also reads it and his voice is extremely soothing and pleasant to listen to. I highly recommend this book!

honest ... story I've been seeking

This man went from spiritual, to losing faith, and through study and intention, faith was given back. There were parts I wonder if they would be disturbing to some people, yet these were the Real discussions I needed-- difficult ones... so I commend the man's bravery in speaking up and hope those who could have been shocked listened to the entire thing! I've been on a journey to revisit the faith I lost and miss like a part of me. This book put a lot in place. my Soul accepts only deep Truth at this time and I appreciate that is what I got from this book.

Better than the God enigma... Loved it!

If you are ready to take a true journey into your soul ,and find out why you are manifesting your destiny or not. please listen to this audio, it is extremely enlightening, thought-provoking, and revealing why we are here.

When the student is ready..

This is nearly the same story of the journeys, beliefs, and realizations as many others I have met in the last year, as well as my own. Craig's book is both entertaining and insightful. Tolle, Coehlo, and Mitchell (Tao) have produced some of my favorite books, many I have reread 3+ times. Craig's book ranks among these, as I will definitely be reading this book again. I'm looking forward to reading some of his other books.

Self-plagiarism! contradictory and repetitive

There are many contradictory ideas in this book. Additionally, some of the chapters are copied almost verbatim from at least 2 of the author's other books. Disappointing.

A casual, friendly, conversational Afterlife book

I like the casual conversational way Richard Martini narrates this book about paranormal experiences, the reality that is beyond the physical senses, and the continued Consciousness that survives beyond the body.

Okay, it's so casual that if he flubs a sentence, he just stops and re-reads it. No professional editing here. But, that's okay. It's not like I've got a lot of people in my life I can talk to about these things, so I just imagine that I'm actually having someone talk to me about past lives, life between lives, consciousness that continues, the evolution that appears to be going on from life to life, the groups, and what experts have to share.

There's a broad range of topics covered here, and because many of the stories related are peoples own personal past life hypnotic regressions, or interactions, much was new and thus interesting.

I like these books, but do wish the photos were in a pdf, they sound interesting.

I have read all the books he talks about here and find this topic very interesting. The narration was not professional, but I like to listen to books read by the author. He speaks really fast so I slowed it down to .5 speed and it was much better to listen to and easy to follow.
