es un libro bastante Bueno aunque difícil terminarlo Pero tiene una historia bastante rica en detalles y aunque siempre busco llegar a la parte medular lo más pronto posible es a partir de la mitad dónde empieza la parte más intensa ya que no se trata de un hecho histórico sino de la idea de reconsiderar y preguntarse a uno mismo cosas verdaderamente importantes.

la primera mitad narra sucesos históricos en una perspectiva más amplia y es un viaje maravilloso y mágico de Ana hasta el nacimiento y la vida de Jesús después de eso el libro empieza con la parte personal y se dirige al lector y es la parte que me cautiva

el audio libro tiene una buena narradora aunque a veces es plana y me hubiera gustado un mayor énfasis y detalles sonoros para ambientar el libro aún así lo considero valiosa por eso lo calificó con 5 estrellas si quieres romper creencias y ver todo de una manera más amplia es un libro muy amable para poder hacerlo

And I've read around 35 atheist books. This is in the top 5. Well thought out. Very inspiring, and critical thought provoking.

Science trumps magical thinking

Creationist believe silly things based on nothing but intuition and a belief system based on their revealed religion. Even among themselves they will argue about the placement of a comma and will accept what a book written thousands of years ago says over what science, common sense, reason, empirical data and rational thought processes show to be true.

It's incredible that people still reject the fact of evolution (the fossil record exist regardless of what people falsely may believe) and the Theory of Evolution provides the narrative for the explanation of the appearance of design around us. I recently went to a fundamentalist church and the church took it as given the literal truth of Noah's flood and how it explained everything the congregation needed to know about evolution. Yes, there are churches where people actually do believe those kind of things, and books like this one are needed to correct those silly beliefs.

What the book does mostly is show how much funner it is to rely on complicated thought processes to understand than it is to just assume the truth has been revealed to man through magical means and that the same magic never allowed for errors in the translations through millenniums. Give me a world with doubt any day, over a world with certain knowledge based on 2000 year old books. Science only shows things to be less false, but always fascinates. Certainty leads to no growth because nothing else is needed for understanding.

The author goes beyond science and examines what it really means to believe in a holy book such as the bible. He's got a good chapter on "hell" and why it just makes no sense. I would recommend one of my favorite books that dealt with that similar theme and used that as a central character the memoir of Jerry Dewitt "Hope After Faith". It was his non acceptance of hell that led him out of his journey from a Pentecostal Preacher ultimately to an atheist.

Gina Lake's timeless messages make for calming, relaxing waves of well-being while filling the listener with resolve for more mindful living. This book makes Eastern philosophies and practices accessible to harried westerners.

Ms. Lake's message is greatly enhanced by the skillful narration of Toni Orans, whose reading makes the whole book feel like a cozy visit with a warm-hearted friend. The skill and tone of a narrator can instantly "make or break" an audible reading experience for me, and I truly enjoyed every moment of Ms. Orans' performance. I will look for her work from now on!

This like many of Gina's books has many insights and tips to live in the now and I have found myself listening to it numerous times. The book opened my eyes to how the Ego works and answered many questions why we think how we do.

Author ought consider paid reading talent!

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The narration. The material is STELLAR stuff - but the author, despite the fact that she is the person who put these words on the page, was constantly stumbling over them, reading sentences incorrectly and not making corrections - which made me go back and relisten to what she said more than twice. Do us a favor, please, and pay the extra for voice talent - you and we will be happier with the end result!

see above. Author has a lovely voice, however, constant stumbling over and mis speaking what she is reading is very annoying and off-putting.

no. the CONCEPT of this book would make one facet of an excellent basis for an ongoing series.

I love this book so much that I bought a paper...

I got a paper copy of this book as I listened to it and was loving it. I like this one better than Quantum Jumps, which I listened to before this one. Reality Shifts is written more in a self help style that Quantum Jumps. They are both great books though.

I can't deal with Cynthia Sue Larson. She is educated and seems like she should be smart but my one experience with her book has left me wondering whether she needs psychological intervention.

Her "theories" and so called experiences are ludicrous. A statue appears out of nowhere? Her hair magically curls when she thinks about her friends curly hair? Please...

I have an open mind, otherwise I would not have given this book a try. I was excited about it but that didn't last long. She either actually believes that a lost wallet or a sock, transported itself to another place, or she is just a nut. I got nothing useful from this book. Her own narration is not horrible but is amateur.

Quite an entertaining read

I'm surprise Alastair has never written a children's fantasy book of his own and but arguments for the existence of a God like Andrew Klavan didn't homelanders C.L Lewis. in the lion the witch and the wardrobe

A great overview

To those who have never read C.S. Lewis this will be a wonderful introduction. And to those very familiar with the beloved author it will feel like bumping into an old friend after much time apart. While it is not an in depth treatment of his work it is still well worth the purchase.

Inspiring; compelling style; tiresome reader

I appreciated McGrath's writing in the style of C.S. Lewis. I think Lewis himself would have been glad to read a summary of his thoughts and teachings, arranged by topic in an approachable format. I recommend this for the uninitiated and those familiar with Lewis's work. After I listened to this, I re-read two of Lewis's Chronicles of Narnia (The Magician's Nephew and The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe) and I am embarking on a third. Through McGrath, I was reminded of Lewis's brilliant way of engaging the imagination to get to deeper truth.

About the Reader

I listened to Ralph Lister read this. On the positive side, he has a beautiful voice with a British accent. On the negative side, his reading inflection became tiresome as he spoke almost every sentence with the same lilting, rhythm. It was like a BBC newscast over and over. Certainly not among the worst readers, but somewhat distracting.

GREAT STUDY TOOL..

Young Earth vs. Old Earth..

Ever notice these young earth vs. old earth arguments do not exist in those who can read the original texts? What was so clear at one point in English back in 1611 has lost its meaning as the English language has changed.

This does not appears to be common knowledge in the Christian world for reasons that are beyond me. I don't know what they teach in church now-a-days, but this is surely something that isn't. For me, the author did not tell me anything I didn't believe before but he did add some interesting ideas that I haven't thought of before and he put it all into a nice little ebook. I also believe that none of this is essential for salvation, which is probably why it isn't taught more, but it is valueable when talking to the scientific minds that think they know all. I sought this stuff for myself years ago because I was challenged back then. I knew the answer but was unable to put forth my argument clearly. Books such as this help for those who would like to have that same help.

One of the largest helps for me back then was reading the Young's Literal Translation (YLT) version of the Bible which clearly points out that the earth existed before the creation narrative found in Genesis:

Genesis 1

1In the beginning of God's preparing the heavens and the earth --

2the earth hath existed waste and void, and darkness [is] on the face of the deep, and the Spirit of God fluttering on the face of the waters.......
