Fast moving, engaging, intense, bloody and fun!
The idea of following someone's last days is a great hook to find out what is going through their mind, especially when it is the end of the world, with zombies.
The first person narrative style pulls you right into the thoughts and feelings of Jillian as her and her husband, Evan, struggle through a more realistic spin on a zombie apocalypse.
The novel gives more explanation of the zombies and the world going into chaos as the story goes on but all through the view of Jillian, keeping the story humorous at points and your eyes forgetting to blink, wanting to read more.
A great short read and would recommend to any horror, apocalyptic or zombie fan. Keep up the gore-filled work and I plan to read the sequel!
great book
I really enjoyed this novel, and how it played out. While this is not my normal type read, I enjoyed seeing how so many people are hooked on these. This could be a great lead into a series, one I hope this author will consider.
Fast paced zombie thriller!
After being sucked into the Walking Dead, I had to give a shot to reading "zombie". The Last Day in the Life of Jillian was a treasure waiting to be found. The author does a beautiful (not sure that's right for zombie) job creating vivid imagery that will leaving you wanting to sleep with the lights on. The characters were well developed and my heart was pounding with theirs as I followed them through their terrifying experience. The main character Jillian, is easy to connect with and I would imagine we would all feel like her in this horrible situation. Unlike so many other zombies, these zombies are smart, fast and will tell you they love you as they take their next bite! I am definitely a fan and can't wait to read the next in the series! Well done!
Five Stars for a Great Story...
This was a 'draw you in and grab you by the throat' kinda story. Characters were very compelling and I really sympathized with them (a great accomplishment for a short story). The past v.s. present time-frames were not confusing and the pace was just right. The only caveat I might mention is that editing is much needed - various forms of incorrect grammar and spelling were noticeable. Other than that, I will be reading more from this author!
Could use an editor, but the story makes up for it.
First things first, this could use an editor. There were a lot of problems with it, especially with possessive apostrophes, misplaced periods and commas, and its vs it's. There were enough of these errors that it slowed me down pretty substantially.
Once you get past that, though, it's a fun story. Nerdery, necrophilia, and some very evocative writing. My kind of story. It has a lot of potential, with a meticulous editor, and maybe some tightening up.
