Decent Ending to a Roller Coaster Series
I give it to the Cast Girls they keep you reading and looking forward to the next book even when your ready to cut them off. The first few books suck you in with the characters and plots but by the 8th book all that made you love them annoys you. Even Neferet has gone from bad ass to "Really Now". Truly if it wasn't for Caitlin Davies narrations I couldn't have gotten through it. That being said Redeemed has a decent enough ending to a lingering series for those who feel the way I do i.e. "I'm done with this series but I can not not listen to it." Thanks so much for the good times but glad to say Good-Bye.
    In love
This book made me obsessed with audiobooks. absolutely loved every minute. On to the spin offs!
    The End(Really)
While I love this story I am sad to hear it end. I wish Neferet could have been saved, but I guess I can imagine a future where she is free and repenting for her wrongs. Also, Caitlin Davies did a great job. I enjoyed listening to her voice over the past few weeks.
Like saying goodbye to a friend
My daughter and I started listening to this series years ago and now are sad to see it end. But it ended well.
Good way to end the series
I wasn't sure at first but quickly got into it then I could stop. I hate to be a spoiler so I won't give anything away. Suffice it to say it truly completes the story in my option. I will miss all of the characters

Edinburgh, 1844. Beautiful Aileana Kameron only looks the part of an aristocratic young lady. In fact, she's spent the year since her mother died developing her ability to sense the presence of Sithichean, a faery race bent on slaughtering humans. She has a secret mission: to destroy the faery who murdered her mother. But when she learns she's a Falconer, the last in a line of female warriors and the sole hope of preventing a powerful faery population from massacring all of humanity, her quest for revenge gets a whole lot more complicated.
The first volume of a trilogy from an exciting new voice in young adult fantasy, this electrifying thriller blends romance and action with steampunk technology and Scottish lore in a deliciously addictive listen.

    One of my favorites!
    Any additional comments?
This is a book I will probably listen to multiple times over the years. I thought the story and the world were both very enchanting and exciting. I loved the steampunk feel. I loved that Aileana was supposed to uphold her precarious reputation but her need for vengeance demanded that she fight, even to her reputation's own demise. I can understand how some reviewers felt there wasn't any progression in her character, but this book only covered a matter of about one month's time. I believe in the following books Aileana will grow and mature for the better.
Other reviewers also hated the romantic aspect, but I really loved the idea of a faery/Falconer romance. It was fun and exciting and heated but without being a "bodice ripper," as one reviewer called it (apparently never having read an actual bodice ripper, which are practically rated XXX). There was not one single scene that was even close to a bodice ripper- all would have been rated PG, for goodness sake. The book is definitely geared toward females, though, that's for sure. I'm in my 30's and loved it but I think teens and young adults would too. There is some language but nothing horrible and no inappropriate sex scenes or anything like that. The violence would be the only thing I would consider too much for a young teen, however.
Anyway, while the actual writing might not have been worthy of any sort of award, it's a great story none the less and I definitely think it's a true gem if you're into fantasy with a bit of adventure. I can't wait for book 2, as I hope we will get to learn a ton of backstory.
The narrator was OK. Toward the end of the book I finally got used to her and she didn't annoy me as much, but at first her inflections were kind of annoying. Plus, the fact that she read the ENTIRE book in a half-whisper drove me nuts!
    Vengeful, murderous, and magical...
Would you listen to The Falconer again? Why?
    5 Stars
THE FALCONER was PHENOMENAL!!! From it's Scotland lure, to it's vengeance and murder, to it's THRILLING, action-packed adventure, and heart-pounding, slow burning romance, that sent heat rising, and toes curling, THE FALCONER was exceptional, and did NOT disappoint!!!
THE FALCONER is indescribably AWESOME!!! I can pretty much say that I loved just about everything about this book. I listened to most of it on audio, but also read some from the physical book. But honestly, I think I preferred listening to it rather then reading it.

Ugh. Terrible narration scars a great story!
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
My children are crazy about Michael Vey! We have loved listening to the series on audible as we commuted to and from school. I find the stories enjoyable, as well, and this most recent installment was a much anticipated event for our carpool! However, this narrator is absolutely terrible! The first two books were fantastically performed and after getting used to a new voice, we even enjoyed book 3. This new narrator, though, is very hard to listen to. He has strange breaks in the way he reads - his voice goes up as if he is asking a question on each sentence. It gives a very 'Valley Girl' feel to all of the characters and makes his narration choppy and difficult to follow. And instead of somehow growing on you, as most narrators eventually seem to do, this one just gets more and more grating. I don't know what is involved in hiring a professional narrator, but this narrator on this book is *really* hurting the Michael Vey brand.
    STOP CHANGING NARRATORS
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes but only because we're in the middle of the series and the story is not over. The first two books were great and the 3rd was good.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Hunt for Jade Dragon?
It's hard to remember one because the reader is very monotone through out the book
How could the performance have been better?
First you need to start with a narrator with the ability to bring the characters to life with some excitement and inflection and tell the story with some passion.
    A Worthwhile Read
    Any additional comments?
The narration was better on this 4th installment than it was on the 3rd, but it does not beat Fred B. in the first two books. Also this book, while I found it worthwhile to read, just does not draw me in with a creative imaginative story as the first of the series did. Yet it is refreshing and entirely enjoyable to read a book where positive principles are woven throughout.
Adequate story but sub pare narration
Awkward hesitations in the middle of sentences, as if turning a page to continue reading, distracted markedly from the story and made this book far less enjoyable than it should have been.
This voice actor! Ugh! Story... I little less than what I was hoping
Seriously struggled to deal with his inflections. Did he think mimicking Christopher Walken was what each teenager, adult, good guy and villain needed to sound like? Drove me nuts. I powered through it because the story was worth it.

    great story
loved the plot just a little too romantic. could have been a little more realistic. couldn't give a 4.5 I did enjoy all 3 books hope she followed up with a 4th room for more story.
    I am Guilty
While I do like the concept, I find the characters lacking. Their emotions are all over the place and they all share identical love stories, that follow a predictable roller coaster ride. Words like love and hate are thrown from left to right. Which makes it blatantly obvious that this series is intended for an audience younger then I. Yet in the end I'll still continue with the next book. What can I say, it's my guilty pleasure.
    I liked it
I think it was interesting. Written for a young crowd, definetly. But I liked some of the stories very much. The narrators did a good job performing. I finnished the book fast, so that must count for something. Not anything like the tv-show though. But I don't think that's a bad thing.
    The 100 good
It was a good and interesting book
I recommend it to anyone looking for a good adventure!
    still love!
so completely different from the TV show, but I love it! it kinda got boring at some parts though.

    It's not done?
I hate it when a book ends at on a cliffhanger. I remember listening to this title.... looking at the time left and knowing that there is no way everything is going to be wrapped up in the time that was left. I am not sure how the other book in this series is going to unfold but it's definitely going to be an interesting one.
The action in this one got turned up a couple notches with a lot of really fast pace, exciting portions. Up until the very last sentence you're treated with a barrage of action from the characters in the book. If you enjoy fast pace action, you'll enjoy this.
The narration to me was average at best and annoying at worse in places. The story is strong enough though to have you wanting to listen to the book despite.
The most annoying part of all this is having to wait on yet another book to see how this is all going to unfold....
Great book and series. Terrible reader.
While I loved the book the main male reader (there are 2 other female readers) is terrible. He tries to do voices for the other characters but they're so comical. Really takes you out of the book and the story. If you liked the previous books in the series this one does not disappoint.
    Best one thus far
So much action. Can't wait for the last two books to come out. The story is so gripping that you just can't stop listening.
author keeps repeating same story plot.
    ready for final book. . . . . . . . . . . . thank you
love this series and am always left wanting more

    PARTS PIRATES
Not sure this answered any questions? If you are a huge Un Fan, you will want to listen. If you are just a warm fan, it will not be that interesting. Book one is great, everyone should read that. I have not read book Two yet, but I will. Lev spends time with some Indians, sorry Native Americans, sorry Chance People and he is treated well, But and it is a big But.
    CHANCE PEOPLE
The newness of the whole Un, may be wearing off on me and I found the Chance People with their stilted talk and different beliefs, just a bit boring. Not that their is anything wrong with believing in Animal Spirits and transplanting animal hearts into humans is not any more unbelievable then being Un, I just could not get into it. I might be too old?
    made me cry
The story tell about Levs time on an indian reservation where he thinks he is safe. it never goes into how Lev came to be a claper like it was hoping it would but good non the less.
i cant say to much without giving away the end but i will warn you that the ending is not a happy one. i couldnt stop crying for 15 or 20 min after i had finished the book.
    Great story
it definitely adds to the overall story but it's not completely necessary to read to understand the story but I'm really glad i did
    Great quick listen!
A great chapter in the series. Short and concise, but packed with a fantastic story. Picks up Lev's story shortly after the end of the first book.
    Thanks, I needed that!
I am so glad they decided to included this book in the series! Very well written.

    Eh.....it was ok
The story was OK. I was really disappointed in the way it ended, ruined the whole story for me. The premise of the story is a good one, but there were so many better ways it could have been fleshed out.
    Annoying protagonist and unbeliveable relationship
    What disappointed you about UnEnchanted?
The protagonist of the story is annoying. Hard to find anything to "like" about her. Her uncalled for outbursts make her appear childish. This makes the continued interest of the too perfect love interest unbelievable and hard to sympathise with.
The story had potential, but I just couldn't get through it felt as if the book had been written by a teenager. Perhaps okay for 10 year olds and down...
    So NOT What I Expected!
Would you listen to UnEnchanted again? Why?
Say what?! Seriously, I did not expect anything miraculous with this book, and never would I have expected that I would get hooked into this fun series! Mina is adorable as a determined Grime (Grimm), whose family has a curse on them created by non other than royal Fae. And while living in a fairy tale might seem grand, to Mina it's just another day of trouble. With her loved one's lives in the balance, it's all Mina can do to keep up with the curse, but with friends like her's, and a new ally, she just might break it!Unenchanted is definitely a light read, but I was so caught up in the story and characters, that I made a mad dash to order the next in the series! Was this book totally unique? Not really, but the plot, the sweet characters, the overall tone of the story immediately grabs your attention, and before you know it you're transported to a world of fairy tale creatures gone amok! Originally, within the first few chapters, I felt this book was generated towards a much younger audience, but it truly is for any age, and great entertainment! Also the narrator did a really good job with this series, but I will say that it did take me a chapter or two before I warmed up to her, and was totally engrossed from that point forward. Again, this is a light read, but it's massively fun and you'll be cheering Mina on!
    Don't bother
2-1/2 stars: Meh. For as short as it was, it felt like it dragged a bit. Also, Mina and Brody acted way older than their 15/16 years, in terms of romance, possessiveness, etc. They just didn't feel right to me. I didn't like Nan. She was completely obnoxious and no way I'd keep her for a best friend if I was Mina. The whole story felt like it was "off".

    Enjoyable Story
These Broken Stars is a well written YA science fiction novel that does circumvent a lot of the cliches in the genre. What begins as a "Titanic" type disaster turns into a survival story with the characters slowly bonding over the course of their ordeal.
Lilac LaRue is the daughter of one of the wealthiest men in the galaxy. Tarver Merendsen, son of a teacher and a poet, comes from humble origins. When Lilac's father's flagship unexpectedly fails, both are forced to use each of their unique talents to survive the disaster - and then find help on the oddly empty terraformed planet they've been stranded upon. But things are not as they should be and both are going to be forced to find inner strengths in order to solve the mystery of the planet and the disaster.
Lilac is a strong character and brings as much to the plate as her male counterpart. What I feared would start out as a 'big misunderstanding' (which would be yet another endless bickering between the two) ended up having a good root cause and quickly overcome by the very real dangers they face together. There are very few deux ex machina to make their journey easier and the mystery at the end justified the middle survival story.
I especially liked that throughout, they each have to save each other and both are more than they seem on the outside.
The Audible version has both a male and female narrator and both did a very good job with the characters.
    Mesmerizing!
From the start I was instantly drawn into this story. Told in duel points of view, it was such a mesmerizing listen. The narrators did an excellent job of bringing this well written and unique story to life. It made me feel transported to another place and time and I became utterly lost within the words.
These Broken Stars is a story of survival and love, set in a sci-fi world, with intriguing mysteries to solve, that will have you listening late into the night. There are so many twists and turns and I didnt see that coming moments. It will have you guessing almost to the very end.
This was such an unexpected gem of a book. 5 HUGE stars!!
    Loveddd it
This book was a great listen, cute love story !
Not that long and the narrators are great !
A Young Adult Tale that Lives Up to the Hype
Finally a YA book that lives up to all the hype. The pretty cover doesn't hurt either. . . but, seriously, I have been terribly disappointed in the YA titles that continue to be hyped to the pointed of silliness and yet are shockingly bad (Divergent, I am looking at you). While Twilight was silly at least it had a plot that was fairly clear to follow and made sense.

I was pleasantly surprised after the first book so it's nice to see that this one still retains its charm I'm glad I picked this up looking forward to more
    Excellent Story!
    Any additional comments?
Rebel Kingdom is a continuation of a story. Throughout the twists and turns the plot thickens and is unpredictable. (YAY!!) I love the dynamics of the characters and how the author presents their thought process. I've become emotionally attached to several and I cannot wait to start book 3.
Can't wait for the next book!
Would you consider the audio edition of Rebel Spring to be better than the print version?
This production of the audio edition is LOADS better than the first audio production of Falling Kingdoms. I thought that I wasn't going to buy the audio edition of Rebel Springs because I wasn't impressed with the audio of Falling Kingdoms but the narrator did SUCH a better job on this tape! You can't hear his sharp intakes of breath as predominantly as well as, his hurried rush of words when reading character lines. In this production he speaks smoother, not so staccato. I very, VERY much like this series.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Rebel Spring?
    The wedding scene!!!!
What about Fred Bermans performance did you like?
I liked that he improved his performance from Falling Kingdoms to Rebel Springs. This audio is very good.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
No tears but I'm not a crier. The end made me VERY much excited for the next book. We really haven't had an in-depth look yet to Lucia and I think Prince Magnus still has a lot of growth coming. Also Cleonia had a large undertaking stirring and I think the best is yet to come!
    Any additional comments?
Lord Aron is a perfect addition to the cast. He's horribly annoying but brings a good dynamic to the circle of nobles.

    Good 3rd in the series
The only thing I wish was different was Ray Porter doing the Joe Ledger portions.
    About time!
I was waiting forever for the audio release. I even wrote Jonathan Maberry to find out when it was coming out and told me it wasn't, my hopes were dashed in ever finishing the story. Well, it was a welcomed surprise to see it one day sitting in the pre-order section.
This story fills outs the questions from the first two books, but opens more up at what will happen in next book. In this book we find a death cult group and learn about new types of zombies. Not to spoil anything, but if you have read other Maberry books, a certain character pops up in the middle of this one. That put a big ol' smile on my face.
From the sounds of it, the next book will be the last one.
    Love this series!

First Thought when Finished: Dang that epilogue--Flesh and Bone by Jonathan Maberry made me cry---AGAIN!
Overall Thoughts:Jonathan Maberry is one of those writers that I adore. He writes stories that make you scream, laugh, and cry. Even though this is a YA series, the teenagers seem to have a better world view than the adults. There is a little angst but overall this is a world where you have people to root for. I would never survive the Zombie Apocalypse.
    Audio Thoughts:
Narrated By Brian Hutchinson / Length: 10 hrs and 46 mins
I really enjoy Brian's narration of this series. He is great at hitting all the different emotions and character moments.
