    Title: The Founder's Mentality

    Publisher's Summary:
Why is profitable growth so hard to achieve and sustain? Most executives manage their companies as if the solution to that problem lies in the external environment - find an attractive market, formulate the right strategy, win new customers. But when Bain & Company's Chris Zook and James Allen (authors of the best-selling Profit from the Core) researched this question, they found that when companies fail to achieve their growth targets, 90 percent of the time the root causes are internal, not external - increasing distance from the front lines, loss of accountability, proliferating processes and bureaucracy, to name only a few. What's more, companies experience a set of predictable internal crises, at predictable stages, as they grow. Even for healthy companies, these crises, if not managed properly, stifle the ability to grow further - and can actively lead to decline.
The key insight from Zook and Allen's research is that managing these choke points requires a "founder's mentality" - behaviors typically embodied by a bold, ambitious founder - to restore the speed, focus, and connection to customers, all of which are lost as companies grow:
Based on the authors' decade-long study of companies in more than 40 countries, The Founder's Mentality demonstrates the strong relationship between these three traits in companies of all kinds - not just start-ups - and their ability to sustain performance. Through rich analysis and inspiring examples, this book shows how any leader - not only a founder - can instill and leverage a founder's mentality throughout their organization and find lasting, profitable growth.

    Absolutely fantastic. Very informative .
It is an excellent read. I think everyone should have this audible app and have this book on at all phases of their life. This is extremely functional and important material/information for college students, Individual seeking self improvement or Those just trying to improve their working environments. Should listen to frequently as every time I have I've always learn something new. It's like one of those little hidden perspectives that just sneaks up on you and says here I am. Extremely useful. Run with-it!
Leadership and Organization = Package Deal
There is no leadership without a thorough understanding of organization. In this book, the author demonstrates their encyclopedic knowledge of organizations and uses that to educate their listener as to the strengths and weaknesses in each case. The thing I found compelling about this book is the author's humility in the approach to the subject. He preaches the need of a company to not be told about their organizational challenges but to figure it out for themselves. The author helps us understand our own situation and provides a robust framework from which we can adjust accordingly.

    Publisher's Summary:
Common hiring practices are destined for failure. Here's how to hire the right people and build a company culture designed for long-term success.
In a recent groundbreaking study, the training firm Leadership IQ found that 46 percent of all new hires fail within their first 18 months. But here's the real shocker: 89 percent fail for attitudinal reasons - not skills.
Most hiring managers are getting it wrong. Of course skills are important, but a particular skill set is about the easiest thing to test in an interview. Although much harder to recognize, attitude should be your number-one focus during the hiring process. Don't suffer from poor chemistry - even one employee with the wrong attitude could cause years of suffering for your other employees and customers.
Whether you're hiring new employees, choosing existing employees for a new team, or upgrading your current talent pool, you need people with the right attitude!
Attitude is what makes employees give 100 percent effort and turns customers into raving fans. Attitude sets your company apart from the competition.
In Hiring for Attitude, top leadership strategist Mark Murphy shows you:
Hiring for Attitude includes case studies from Microchip, Southwest Airlines, The Ritz-Carlton, Google, and other companies that drive great results by hiring for attitude.
Whether your company is small or big, highly social or hypercompetitive, flat or hierarchical, every person on your payroll has to fit your culture. You can't afford to hire blind. You need to be Hiring for Attitude.

Tons of pearls big or small business
I am a dentist. This is a great book. The pace was good and it didnt have too much fluff.
Not a bad 2nd or 3rd book to read on the topic
I just finished reading the book who! and that was a very thorough step-by-step guide to hiring. This book is not quite like that. It's mainly talking about things to do during the interview process and even when posting the job to try to attract the better employees. Although I did get some good information from it, I would say the vast majority is either very much common sense or self-serving promotion for their services. I do recommend reading it but not as a primary source for finding out how to hire better Talent. This is definitely a second or third book on the topic to fill in a few points that may not have been covered in another more thorough book
    Great Book
Loved it, very useful and innovative. I will certainly recommend it to my colleagues who are studying HR.

Leadership isn't about a job title - it's about action and behavior.
In SPARK, entrepreneurs, business consultants, and military veterans Angie Morgan, Courtney Lynch, and Sean Lynch show how anyone can become an extraordinary leader by embracing seven key behaviors.
Many people believe that leaders are the rare few at the upper echelons of a business or other enterprise. But the truth is leaders can be found at any level of an organization.
These are the Sparks - the doers, thinkers, innovators, and key influencers who are catalysts for personal and organizational change. Sparks aren't defined by the place they hold on an organizational chart. They are defined by their actions, commitment, and will.
When Sparks are ignited, their actions can shape their future. They make things better. They're the individuals who have the courage to challenge the status quo and take action.
Frederick W. Smith, Chairman & CEO of FedEx Corporation, adds: The concept of leadership is not a difficult one to understand. It's that straight-forward, but it's by no means intuitive. It must be learned and practiced. SPARK will help you do just that.
SPARK's, insights were hard-earned by its authors, Angie Morgan (Marine Corps), Courtney Lynch (Marine Corps), and Sean Lynch (Air Force), who today are sought-after consultants and keynote speakers, through their firm Lead Star, due to the relevant, engaging way they help individuals reimagine themselves as leaders so they can reach their true potential.

    Contenido excelente.
I learn something new about this material.
I consider that a leader could be better if you constantly learn about leadership. This is the begining, I will continue with experience.

    Genres: Business, Leadership
    Publisher's Summary:
A predictable pattern of success, this book provides a clear roadmap for entrepreneurs that shows them where they are and what to do in order to advance their start-up.
After founding or co-founding over 15 start-ups and investing in another 50 early stage ventures as an angel investor, author Howard Love came to understand that a start-up unfolds in a predictable pattern. The more aware entrepreneurs are of this pattern, the better able they will be to capitalize on it. Love calls this pattern the start-up J Curve. The toughest part of the endeavor is the time between the actual start of a new business and when the product and model are firmly established. The Start-Up J Curve gives entrepreneurs the tools they need to get through the early challenges so they can reach the primary value creation that lies beyond.
Love brings 35 years of start-up experience to this comprehensive guide to starting a business. He outlines the six predictable stages of start-up growth and details the activities that should be undertaken at each stage to ensure success and to avoid common pitfalls. Instead of feeling lost and confused after a setback, start-up founders and investors can anticipate the challenges, overcome the obstacles, and ride the curve to the top.

Release your product quickly, then be ready to morph.
This book was very informative, but the most helpful takeaway for me was what I learned about the Morph phase.
I have a tendency to really latch on to my initial idea and this chapter helped me understand that this mindset counterproductive. You need to be open, flexible, and willing to change directions (or morph) when the market is telling you to do so.
Not only that, but it is all but guaranteed that version 1.0 of your idea will NOT be a home run. A number of successful businesses that we know and love today started off as something completely different. Only by morphing were they able to finally find product market fit.
So let your first Idea drive you to QUICKLY produce and release a product. But then after that, you need to listen to intently to the feedback of your customers and be prepared to morph.
Knowing this, has taken a lot of the pressure of me to create something perfect in the lab that is my head. We may think I know what people want, but there is often a big difference between what we think people want, and what people are actually willing to use or pay for .
Now, my only goal is to produce a MVP (minimum viable product) as quickly as possible so I can start gathering feedback. The sooner I do this, the sooner I create a product that people love.
    Sound Advice, set expectations
I enjoyed reading this book. Setting expectations for new entrepreneurs is critical advice for those that will end up succeeding. There is no fast path, there is only act and react at every step of the way. Expect it is going to happen and prepare for the next set of hard decisions you are going to have to make to keep your start-up moving forward or surviving.
    Informative insight.
One of the better books on start ups
I found this book fascinating. It definitely helps you to understand when starting a company the essentials, and that whatever idea you have, its most likely gonna change from your original. The question he asks: what moves do you need to make in order to succeed.
It has many real examples of companies.

Title: Summary of Start with Why by Simon Sinek
    Subtitle: Summary & Analysis
    Author: Elite Summaries
    Narrator: Ronald Douglas
    Format: Unabridged
    Length: 31 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 10-05-16
    Publisher: Elite Summaries
Ratings: 4 of 5 out of 5 votes
    Genres: Business, Leadership
    Publisher's Summary:
Simon Sinek's book explains what it is that those apparently born leaders do that makes them so successful. He explains how leaders are not necessarily born; that they can be made. Sinek reveals how any of us can learn what the world's "born" leaders do that most people don't. This is a "must listen" book for anyone who wants to lead their organization to success.
What is the great secret that puts one person or organization way out in front of the rest? How do they get to be so much more innovative and successful and remain so, whatever their competitors do? Well, the answer is that asking questions is a good start but they have to be the right questions. Sinek tells us that the most vital question is "why."
In business, it is obviously a good idea to know what you do. You need to know how you do it. But most important of all is to know why you do what you do. In Start with Why, the author explains that it's the basic question all the great leaders in business, social reform, or any other field asked themselves right at the beginning. He examines such leaders as Steve Jobs, Richard Branson or Martin Luther King and notes that they all applied the same thinking and started from the same question: why?
The book goes on to show us how to apply this principle in our own businesses. It explains how to get from "what?" to "how?" and on to "why?" Why are we doing what we do rather than something else? Listen to the book, apply its lessons and you could be the next Jobs or Branson. The sky's no longer the limit!
    Members Reviews:
    Gets the key points accross
Start With Why is a great book. That said it was also redundant in many areas. That is why this synopsis was very good. It made the point very concisely.
Though it might seem like a TED talk book
Whatever we do in life we do it with a certain goal, a vision of something that will once we achieve that in full. Though it might seem like a TED talk book, Start with why is a compelling guide on how to make it big, by starting from small thing. You might say vision isn't a small thing, but the vision isn't seeing your business as a worldwide business, vision is something within you that will help you grow and make your business bigger than it is. Start small, with a dot in the center and expand, like a pebble dropped on a water.
Though those companies leaders may not be the best role models they did had one thing
So many success stories about business and companies we can learn from. Though those companies leaders may not be the best role models they did had one thing: a clear vision. A vision of their beliefs that lead them straight to the top and among the best. This is something we all can benefit from and learn on how to guide ourselves and grow.
    Pretty descent
Would recommend for a quick summary. Haven't read the full book so I can't say how far from the mark it is. Okay though. Had a couple of grammatical errors.
    Three Stars
okay as far as summaries go.
