    Format: Unabridged
    Length: 28 mins
    Language: English

    Publisher's Summary:
Start with Why by Simon Sinek is a self-help book for business leaders seeking ways of gaining authenticity through a focus on their purpose.
Most companies rely on manipulations to attract customers and employees; they use short-term motivators that do not inspire or encourage loyalty. Customers who are not inspired will stop buying the product as soon as the company cannot keep up the manipulative strategies, and employees are less motivated and less productive when they are not inspired.
Instead of strategies based on keeping up with competitors and metrics meant to determine the company's basic productivity, companies should form strategies that advance its purpose, or its "why" and find metrics that measure "how" the company advances that "why". Only with a firm idea of why the company does its work and how it intends to fulfill that purpose can employees then decide what to do at work.
Please note: This is key takeaways and analysis of the book and not the original book.

Summary of Simek: Why Analysis matters
Would you consider the audio edition of Summary of Start with Why by Simon Sinek to be better than the print version?
No, but the great thing about this summary is that it includes an analysis which provides me details to consider buying the full versions, whether audio or print.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Summary of Start with Why by Simon Sinek?
The analysis - it provides enough details to consider the full version
Also, compared to some other summaries, the selection of summary material is better than most
Which character as performed by Dwight Equitz was your favorite?
    This was non-fiction.
However, cadence, tone, etc. are better than most summaries I've listened to, which seem to be nearly childish in nature
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
    Yes
    poor narrator
this instaread version is a waste.. the narrator is unenthusiastic, and underwhelming.. Simon Sinek is much better.
    Mechanically read. Hated it
The book is good. The performance and the production of this summary are appalling. Save your time

    Publisher: Brilliance Audio

    Genres: Business, Leadership
    Publisher's Summary:
In the past few years, a number of well-known firms have failed; think of Blockbuster, Kodak, or RadioShack. When we hear about their demise, it often seems inevitable - a natural part of "creative destruction." But closer examination reveals a disturbing truth: Companies large and small are shuttering more quickly than ever. What does it take to buck this trend?
The simple answer is: ambidexterity. Firms must remain competitive in their core markets, while also winning in new domains. Innovation guru Clayton M. Christensen has been pessimistic about whether established companies can prevail in the face of disruption, but Charles A. O'Reilly III and Michael L. Tushman know they can! The authors explain how shrewd organizations have used an ambidextrous approach to solve their own innovator's dilemma. They contrast these luminaries with companies which - often trapped by their own successes - have been unable to adapt and grow.
Drawing on a vast research program and over a decade of helping companies to innovate, the authors present a set of practices to guide firms as they adopt ambidexterity. Top-down and bottom-up leaders are key to this process - a fact too often overlooked in the heated debate about innovation. But not in this case. Listeners will come away with a new understanding of how to improve their existing businesses through efficiency, control, and incremental change, while also seizing new markets where flexibility, autonomy, and experimentation rule the day.

This is a book summary on The 10X Rule: The Only Difference Between Success and Failure by Grant Cardone
    Original Book Description:
Achieve "Massive Action" results and accomplish your business dreams!
While most people operate with only three degrees of action - no action, retreat, or normal action - if you're after big goals, you don't want to settle for the ordinary. To reach the next level, you must understand the coveted fourth degree of action. This fourth degree, also known as the 10X Rule, is that level of action that guarantees companies and individuals realize their goals and dreams.
The 10X Rule unveils the principle of "Massive Action", allowing you to blast through business clichés and risk-aversion while taking concrete steps to reach your dreams. It also demonstrates why people get stuck in the first three actions and how to move into making the 10X Rule a discipline. Find out exactly where to start, what to do, and how to follow up each action you take with more action to achieve Massive Action results.
Extreme success is, by definition, outside the realm of normal action. Instead of behaving like everybody else and settling for average results, take Massive Action with The 10X Rule, remove luck and chance from your business equation, and lock in massive success.

Incredible audiobook summary of the 10x rule. Great narrator. Very motivating. Time to 10 X!
    10X baby!
They did a 10X job with summarizing this book. Narrator is engaging and motivating. Great stuff. Get it!
    Ok
Not bad could be better but it ok. This enough to listen & learn about 10x
    Good Summary
Get's right to the point. Usually when I take notes on an original book it doesn't fill more than two pages of actual strong points. So this being 25 minutes on a 7 plus hour book I'm guessing they got all the points. Haven't read or listened to the original so I can't say for sure but I was happy with this.
    Great Book. Mediocre Summary.
Having completed the actual book twice, theres no doubt this summary is lacking. The narration is at best average.

    Title: Everybody Matters

    Narrator: Steven Menasche
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 8 hrs and 51 mins

    Publisher: Gildan Media, LLC
Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 84 votes
    Genres: Business, Leadership
    Publisher's Summary:
Starting in 1997, Bob Chapman and Barry-Wehmiller pioneered a dramatically different approach to leadership that creates off-the-charts morale, loyalty, creativity, and business performance. The company utterly rejects the idea that employees are simply functions to be moved around, "managed" with carrots and sticks, or discarded at will. Instead Barry-Wehmiller manifests the reality that every single person matters, just like in a family. That's not a cliché on a mission statement; it's the bedrock of the company's success.
During tough times a family pulls together, makes sacrifices together, and endures short-term pain together. If a parent loses his or her job, a family doesn't lay off one of the kids. That's the approach Barry-Wehmiller took when the Great Recession caused revenue to plunge for more than a year. Instead of mass layoffs, they found creative and caring ways to cut costs, such as asking team members to take a month of unpaid leave. As a result Barry-Wehmiller emerged from the downturn with higher employee morale than ever before.
It's natural to be skeptical when you first hear about this approach. Every time Barry-Wehmiller acquires a company that relied on traditional management practices, the new team members are skeptical, too. But they soon learn what it's like to work at an exceptional workplace where the goal is for everyone to feel trusted and cared for - and where it's expected that they will justify that trust by caring for each other and putting the common good first.
Chapman and coauthor Raj Sisodia show how any organization can reject the traumatic consequences of rolling layoffs, dehumanizing rules, and hypercompetitive cultures. Once you stop treating people like functions or costs, disengaged workers begin to share their gifts and talents toward a shared future. Uninspired workers stop feeling that their jobs have no meaning. Frustrated workers stop taking their bad days out on their spouses and kids. And everyone stops counting the minutes until it's time to go home.
This audiobook chronicles Chapman's journey to find his true calling, going behind the scenes as his team tackles real-world challenges with caring, empathy, and inspiration. It also provides clear steps to transform your own workplace, whether you lead two people or 200,000. While the Barry-Wehmiller way isn't easy, it is simple. As the authors put it:
"Everyone wants to do better. Trust them. Leaders are everywhere. Find them. People achieve good things, big and small, every day. Celebrate them. Some people wish things were different. Listen to them. Everybody matters. Show them."
    Critic Reviews:

This is a summary of Michael D Watkin's The First 90 Days: Proven Strategies for Getting Up to Speed Faster and Smarter
Transitions are a critical time for leaders. In fact, most agree that moving into a new role is the biggest challenge a manager will face. While transitions offer a chance to start fresh and make needed changes in an organization, they also place leaders in a position of acute vulnerability. Missteps made during the crucial first three months in a new role can jeopardize or even derail your success.
Watkins offers proven strategies for conquering the challenges of transitions - no matter where you are in your career. Watkins, a noted expert on leadership transitions and adviser to senior leaders in all types of organizations, also addresses today's increasingly demanding professional landscape, where managers face not only more frequent transitions but also steeper expectations once they step into their new jobs.
By walking you through every aspect of the transition scenario, Watkins identifies the most common pitfalls new leaders encounter and provides the tools and strategies you need to avoid them. You'll learn how to secure critical early wins, an important first step in establishing yourself in your new role.
Whether you're starting a new job, being promoted from within, embarking on an overseas assignment, or being tapped as CEO, how you manage your transition will determine whether you succeed or fail. Use this book as your trusted guide.

    Not A Lot of Take-a-ways
I suppose it was a decent summary, but there weren't a lot of takeaways for me. I imagine the complete version has more substance.
Very concise. Good 30 minutes spent.
If you want the top-line summary with the bottom line points of the book, this is a good place to go. I've been meaning to read this book for a few years, but each time I started it was long, boring, and dry. The summary is 30 minutes of concise information, and I can dig into the book at the points where I want more background on what is being conveyed. Worth a couple of bucks to get to the points!!
Some good stuff but not enough
A few useful nuggets of wisdom, but overall too general to be of much help. Secure early wins, prioritize, get to know your team - really? come on! Not bad for the price or the time commitment but read the full book or one specifically for your profession is you need anything more than a superficial dive.
    more for organisational structure
    no relatable stories
focuses on process rather than relationships
weak start strong middle chapters in book, stick with it for the 60% nuggets contained

    Release date: 06-14-16
    Publisher: Simon & Schuster Audio
Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 245 votes
    Genres: Business, Leadership
    Publisher's Summary:
The New York Times best-selling author of Contagious explores the subtle, secret influences that affect the decisions we make - from what we buy to the careers we choose to what we eat - in this fascinating and groundbreaking work.
If you're like most people, you think that your choices and behaviors are driven by your individual personal tastes and opinions. You wear a certain jacket because you like the way it looks. You picked a particular career because you found it interesting. The notion that our choices are driven by our own personal thoughts and opinions is patently obvious. Right? Wrong.
Without our realizing it, other people's behavior has a huge influence on everything we do at every moment of our lives, from the mundane to the momentous occasion. Even strangers have startling impacts on our judgments and decisions: Our attitudes toward a welfare policy shift if we're told it is supported by Democrats versus Republicans (even though the policy is the same in both cases).
But social influence doesn't just lead us to do the same things as others. In some cases we conform or imitate others around us. But in other cases we diverge or avoid particular choices or behaviors because other people are doing them. We stop listening to a band because they go mainstream. We skip buying the minivan because we don't want to look like a soccer mom.
In his surprising and compelling Invisible Influence, Jonah Berger integrates research and thinking from business, psychology, and social science to focus on the subtle, invisible influences behind our choices as individuals. By understanding how social influence works, we can decide when to resist and when to embrace it - and how we can use this knowledge to make better-informed decisions and exercise more control over our own behavior.
    Members Reviews:
    Confused and Disappointed
I love social science but this book gives so much conflicting data and fails to connect the dots. I finished simply to say I have read the book but I definitely do not recommend.
    Disappointing and lightweight
I have enjoyed Berger's other books but found this to be surprisingly lightweight. It covers very little ground and spends way too much time on anecdotes and way to little on the underlying science. If you are looking for a good understanding of how we influence each other, and ourselves through our own biases, there are plenty of better works to choose from.
    useless book
I really don't get what's the benefit of this book, I expected to learn new ways to influence. It just tells you dumb things that everyone knows that influence decisions. But maybe I learnedly something so 3 stars
    Fascinating, but...
I would have liked to hear more about the principles surrounding the different behaviors. The stories are fascinating examples but at the end of the day I felt they took up a lot of time that could have been used to talk more about the underlying principles and how to use and/or counter them.
    Awesome principles for any leader.
Well narrated. Well written. Very interesting studies and stories. Very helpful for leaders. Jonah Berger delivers. This was a good book but Jonahs book, "Contagious " is more groundbreaking!

    Publisher's Summary:
The founders of a respected Silicon Valley advisory firm study legendary category-creating companies and reveal a groundbreaking discipline called category design.
Winning today isn't about beating the competition at the old game. It's about inventing a whole new game - defining a new market category, developing it, and dominating it over time. You can't build a legendary company without building a legendary category. If you think that having the best product is all it takes to win, you're going to lose.
In this farsighted, pioneering guide, the founders of Silicon Valley advisory firm Play Bigger rely on data analysis and interviews to understand the inner workings of "category kings" - companies such as Amazon, Salesforce, Uber, and IKEA - that give us new ways of living, thinking, or doing business, often solving problems we didn't know we had.
In Play Bigger, the authors assemble their findings to introduce the new discipline of category design. By applying category design, companies can create new demand where none existed, conditioning customers' brains so they change their expectations and buying habits. While this discipline defines the tech industry, it applies to every kind of industry and even to personal careers.
Crossing the Chasm revolutionized how we think about new products in an existing market. The Innovator's Dilemma taught us about disrupting an aging market. Now, Play Bigger is transforming business once again, showing us how to create the market itself.

Design and Build to be a Category King
    Any additional comments?
Early on in the book the authors are all described as crazy. Dont let this description turn you off. If Christopher Lockhead is any example, theirs is the kind of high energy crazy that comes with brilliance. I worked with Christopher when he was CMO at Vantive and he was one of the most inspirational evangelist Id ever heard or witnessed in action. The energy of Christopher, Dave and Al doesnt come out in this book, but their big ideas come out in a BIG way.
So what? There are a lot of management and entrepreneurial books out there with big ideas and Ive listened to/read a lot of them (Start With Why and The Hard Thing About Hard Things being two of my favorites.) Why is this one different and why should you care?
If youre just out to build a new feature or making something just enough better to be attractive and bought by another bigger player, this book isnt for you. But if you want to, or know youre already building something different and it can be a market changer, this book can help you make that happen from idea/category design, through refining your message, to launch, execution and ongoing redesign. (Ref. some of the good, thorough book reviews on Amazon for more details on this.)
This book gives you the process and strategies for being disruptive and becoming what they call a Category King.
My epiphany, when listening to this book, was the eye opener that what our startup really is building is a new category and that we should be positioning it that way.
