    Publisher's Summary:
Talie Ingram is blessed with a devoted husband, a precious toddler, and a baby on the way. But her ideal world unravels when she uncovers a shocking family secret in the 19th-century journal of her British relative Cosima Escott. Only by reading Cosima's words can Talie make peace with the sobering legacy she has inherited - and already passed on.
    Members Reviews:
An inpirational story of Faith, Hope and Love
Every parent dreams of a bright future for their child. When a child is diagnosed with a profound developmental disability, it can be devastating. So it is for Talie Ingram. However, reading the journal left by her ancestor, Cosima Escott, forces Talie to see the truth. When she reads of an ancestral "curse" that seemed to cause feeblemindedness in boys, Talie is put to the test of her life. The author combines a contemporary and historical approach to weave a story of hope, love and faith.
    Beautiful story, passible narration
Would you listen to another book narrated by Anne Pepperidge Pepperidge and Beth Gulbrandsen ?
Beth Gulbrandsen, yes; Anne Pepperidge, no. Pepperidge's delivery is flat and emotionless, and I almost gave up on this book due to it. Thankfully, Beth Gulbrandsen's narration of the historical portions carried this book through.
    Any additional comments?
This book sheds light on a topic that, during Victorian times, was shut away and hidden. Developmental delays were considered a curse, a family's sin. A contemporary woman is dealing with a generic disorder that causes developmental and physical challenges, and discovers a journal written by a distant relative whose family line contains many boys who have these delays.
By far, the historical portions, the journal, those characters were much more fleshed out than the contemporary one. perhaps this is due to Anne Pepperidge's flat delivery, but I found myself skipping through Talie's struggle to get to Cosema's story.

    Easy Listen
This is the second audio book that I have listened to by Kristen Heitzmann. While I enjoyed the other book more, this one was an easy listen. Kristen did a good job in character development and caused me feel "involved" in the character's lives. The book deals with hardship as well as resolve as the main characters try to live true to themselves and do the right thing.
    a pleasant listen
Good story, narrator could have used more intonation but did a nice job overall

    Heartwarming Christian Romance
This story takes place in New Mexico in 1898 and is very heartwarming and touching. I was drawn into the story immediately and really liked the characters. It is a Christian romance so anything that happens in the bedroom is left to your imagination. Such a simple sweet romance between Jeb and Beth. I will definitely listen again in the future.
    Total Enjoyement
I loved listening to A Place Called Home. I read the book earlier and it was such a pleasure to lay in a swing and have the book read to me on a beautiful summer day.

    Simply amazing!
The book itself is extremely recommendable. The audio book, read by the author, definitely is even an extra treat: the authentic pronunciation, accentuation, and love certainly no one else could possibly adapt.
Five stars are not nearly enough!
    Laughed non stop
If you grew up in a church influenced by renewal this is for you! So true! Really laughed whilst listening to this!
    Simply brilliant!!
Everything about this book is brilliant. As well as being hugely entertaining, it makes you see your life, your faith & your values in a different light. I loved all the characters, they are so easy to identify with, & I laughed all the way through this book from beginning to the end. I think we've all got an "Adrian" & a "Mrs Flushpool" in our life. More please Mr Plass.
    Fantastic
Adrian Plass is a really good writer and narrator. I really enjoy his books. Recormemdible
Funny, relaxing and a joy to listen too.
A great listen! Bought to life by the writer as he reads it the way he intended it to be read.
Read like a diary this book can be listened in little snippets, as each day brings its own story. With bits that make you smile, bits that make you laugh out loud and bits that make you question your behaviour.
The musings that happen are not too dissimilar to everyday life so you get a real sense of connection to the Character as you are brought into his family. I even found myself laughing at myself through the character, by realising that we all have similar thoughts, saying similar things, mostly putting my foot in it.
A book that can be enjoyed by everyone, especially those that are interested in finding out about Christian life.

    Better than I was expecting
I enjoyed all the Left Behind series (I read them all on paper), so I was trying not to have too high an expectation for this "prequel." It held my attention - in some parts it was riveting - and overall was just fine. I don't particularly agree with all the doctrine in either this book or the Left Behind series, but that's not why I read them. They're good adventure/mystery/intrigue books without the graphic sex or language a secular book would have. I liked it and will buy the next one, if there is one.
Superb! You Will Not Be Dissapointed!
I have read all the novels with the exception of The Rising. I purchased the audio book and boy! oh boy! I was like a kid in a candy store. I listened to this book in just one day. Every chance I got (lunch break, break, on the way to and from work), I listened. The narrator was exciting to listen to and the story was well written. Way to go! I'd give it ten stars If I could!
    Short and Annoying
Three hours, a mere novella. Narrator changes, with "He said, she said", very distracting.

More spiritual than I thought it would be
That does not make it bad - it was extremely well-written and captivating. I thought by the title that there would be some contact from the beyond, but there was nothing paranormal. It reminded me of the "Big Chill" - old friends reuniting, secrets revealed, however, the way individuals responded was more down-to-earth, with the slant coming from their common Christian background.
    Ghosts
well done, draws you right in and makes you think..
    God gets his hands dirty
If there is a God, then Adrian Plass is a gift from him! Adrian Plass plies far more interesting and REAL territory than the usual Christian writers. He, much like the Jesus he believes in, seems far more at home with the people who haven't got all the answers, than with the fundamentalists. While my beliefs differ from Plass', his writings have done more than any other author to keep me from completely dismissing Christianity.
Onto the story....while the premise of the re-union that the story uses as a device to gather the protagonists together is a little hard to imagine happening in real life, it does set up a series of conversations and interactions that are in turns, warm, awkward, searching, and real. The story has very little real narrative, it is mainly a series of conversations in varying settings between old friends. The main character, David, has recently lost his wife, and has yet to reconcile life without her. The ending of the book is probably best described as a tearjerker, but there is nothing sappy or sugary about it, just sadly touching.
Died in the wool atheists would probably not want to sit through the very few but intense references to religiosity - there are a few fervent prayers throughout the story, but they are relevant to the story, as it is told from a believer's point of view. And for those who haven't worked out yet what exactly they believe, this audiobook will not provide any Road to Damascus moments, BUT it most likely will encourage you to keep seeking.
    Thanks Adrian Plass!
    rediscovering an old friend
I found this book while searching for Father Gilbert Mysteries. Plass, who voices Gilbert in the radio dramas, reches his full hieghts here and the results rival Christie Doyle or Stout. As a mystery buff, I highly recomend this and Plass' other works including the Father Gilbert series
    Highly recommended. Marvellous!
    Wow, what a book!
This is the best novel Adrian Plass has written. The prose is less clunky than Plass's other 'serious' novels, yet retains the insightful, light-yet-deep humour of the diaries series. I was laughing at some points and actually in tears at others (not something that regularly occurs)!.

    Dana`s Valley
Loved Jeanette books. She was the first series I started to read. Was so disappointed when she stopped writing her books. I enjoyed this book especially for I went through my own life when my husband was ill and had died.
    Dana's Valley
I liked the book but I was deeply confused with the title. The book is listed as Christy and Todd the college years but not one reference to them or their story. If I am mistaken please correct me. I loved the characters and the storyline and it was a good read. Please keep writing and I look forward to your next books!

Brought This Fast-Paced Story to Life
Where does Kate's Innocence rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
I haven't listened to many audiobooks before (none on Audible), but somewhere in the upper middle.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Kate, because she was an intriguing mixture of strength and vulnerability. I also identified with a few of her characteristics.
What about Sheri Sheridans performance did you like?
Her voice was perfect for the story. She did a good job of differentiating between each character.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
What would you do if you were framed for a crime you didn't commit?
    Any additional comments?
Easy listening, engaging, makes me want more! :)
Suspenseful FBI mystery with faith & friendship
Would you listen to Kate's Innocence again? Why?
Probably not, just because I don't usually listen to audiobooks more than once, but I did enjoy it enough that who knows -- I might listen to it again. I enjoyed the feeling it gave me that it was like I was listening to a TV show. :)
Who was your favorite character and why?
My favorite character was Patrick. I loved his faith, his courage, his kindness, and his determination to follow his convictions on what he believed to be true, even when things looked darkest. He was just a great character. :)
What does Sheri Sheridan bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
Sheri Sheridan's different voices for the characters and the way she conveyed the emotions and action so well gave it an excellent additional level of immersion. It really pulled me into the story and I felt like I was right there.
If you could take any character from Kate's Innocence out to dinner, who would it be and why?
I'd take Patrick. I think he'd be very interesting to talk to. :)
    Any additional comments?
This was my first Audible audiobook experience, and it was a great one! I really enjoyed the story of Kate's Innocence, the characters, the faith aspect, the fun banter, and the suspense of the mystery. The narration was top-notch and very enjoyable.

You'll laugh and cry - and never be the same!
Would you consider the audio edition of Stargazer to be better than the print version?
Usually, I prefer a book I can hold in my hands... but the audio was so inspiring and natural, I'd much prefer to HEAR this story! The narrator's tone and pace perfectly presented this powerful story.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Mary was my favorite character because she became like a best friend. I wept when she did, laughed with her, and rejoiced to see a side of her I'd never imagined. She's just like my mom! I was also pleased that the book, though fictionalized, was Biblically accurate.
What about Misty of Echoing Praises performance did you like?
I'm usually not one for audiobooks... but this narrator was AMAZING! She portrayed strength, yet vulnerability. The narration was professional, but profoundly tender. As compared to other books I've heard which are metered and stilted sounding, this audiobook was like sharing a book with a friend. I was truly swept away!
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I listened to this book while on a long road trip. When I reached my destination... I just couldn't get out of the car; I ended up sitting in the parking lot! I was too engrossed to be able to walk away!
    Any additional comments?
I highly recommend this book. At first, I thought it might be cumbersome or boring. I couldn't have been more wrong. This book impacts your life and changes your heart!

Heartland Illusions:Heartmates, Book 2 Very Nice..
I enjoyed the first book in the series, even though they are a little bit cheesy. These books are good, clean, romantic with a unique twist for the hero and heroine.
However, this one went a bit too far for my taste. The main character, Heather is a ventriloquist whose family holds shows in Branson, Missouri. It wasn't too bad until she began talking to her dummies!
Her family is under investigation because there has been some activity that resulted in identity theft and the one connection to all of them is the gift shop at their show.
Gage is a cop assigned to the case. He seems to have the patience of Job as the story unfolded rather slowly, in my opinion.
The overall message of these books is good, heartwarming with the message that is needed. As I stated, this one was a bit weird for my taste.
Narrated by Amanda Fugate-Moss was very good. I enjoyed her performance. 4 solid stars for the narration.
Notes: There is nothing to warn of here. A good message in a unique story.
    Stars: Overall 4, performance 4 & Story 3.
This was an above average story line with the great narrator.
