Hit way too close to home
Having been married nearly 33 years and moved 22 times in that period to a husband who is also a superstar in his field, I oh so get it. I, too, am at that point of my life where I have just about had it with the moves and being put on the back burner. Having raised our child, who is grown and gone, and having to had forgone any sort of career and wondering just what the heck do I do now, and what do I want to do; I really got this one. It is hard being married to a man who is sexy, gorgeous and successful and being a wife looked at by his younger female coworkers as arm candy with no intelligence. You find yourself isolating and not being able to connect and make friends any longer because you know it will end in a couple of years or so. Many times listening to this my heart would just ache. I actually feel a little inspired to get some brushes, canvas, and paint and see if I can still create art like I used to when I was young. I even wish there was a Passionless Woman group as encouragement.
    Boring and predictable
This book wasnt for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
Maybe an older person wiht a boring life would like this book.
What was most disappointing about Kristin Hannahs story?
There was no real story. The plot line was predictable and the narrator was not good at all. The southern accent was completely off and annoying.
How could the performance have been better?
A different narrator is a must.
You didnt love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
The book was about love, choices and redemption. The ideas were ok, but not in any way exciting.
a struggle to reach the end.
Would you be willing to try another one of Bernadette Quigleys performances?
Ms Quigley should seek a new profession.
What character would you cut from Distant Shores?
    Too many to choose.
    Any additional comments?
Story and narration equally share the blame for such a boring audible. The narrator's exaggerated fake southern accent was almost laughable. Main character was portrayed as a spineless, lazy, uninteresting, why get out of bed at all, female. Her segments made you want to hit fast forward. The husband Jack's character was a step up. Sub-stories were mere book fillers that went nowhere. This whole predictable story could have taken ten minutes. In a nut shell - couple split up, blah blah blah, wife picks up a paint brush, blah blah blah, she starts to paint again, blah blah blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, couple reunites - the end, thank goodness! Don't waste your time or hard earned bucks on this one.

Crusie at the top of her game
This is one of my favorite novels and narrator Aasne Vigesaa simply nails it. It's funny and wise, and sexy as all get out. The large cast of weirdly charming and quirky Temptation residents is not to be missed. I adore the sweetly and craftily drawn romance between ultimate outsider Sophie and blue-blooded town mayor Phinn. This is book with real heart and soul and I can't recommend it enough.
    Well Done!
The only thing about a listening to a great book that can be disappointing, is trying to find another great book to follow it up. My wife and I had just listened to "Pleasure To The Max" by Cami Dalton and loved it. Sexy, funny and intriguing. How do you follow up a great listen like that? You get "Welcome To Temptation". Great characters, Great story. Constant laughing throughout.
Any complaints? Just two small ones. At first the narrator seems to be speaking too fast. I felt like your typical male trying to follow a conversation between three women at full speed. It took me a few chapters to feel comfortable with it. So either I got got used to her delivery, or she slowed down. Second, the sex was 'Just ok', not steamy. But everything else was so good, that that hardly mattered in the end.
We'll definitely be purchasing a few of her other books.
    A Red Herring Romance ...
Would you listen to Welcome to Temptation again? Why?
Probably not, but only because this is not my favourite audiobook genre. This said, the narrator was EXCELLENT. I have come to realise that the narrators who focus on voice affectation and emotion rather than differentiation are extremely good.
What did you like best about this story?
The story is very funny from start to finish, and because it is set in an small town, it has a quirky retro charm that most mature readers will enjoy.
    Which scene was your favorite?
I can speak to favourite scenes, and I can honestly say that the banter between Sophie and Finn is absolutely heartwarming and funny.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Laugh, definitely laugh. It would actually make a great Rom-Com, as the story reads like a cross between Sweet Home Alabama, Bridget Jones' Diary and Jerry McGuire.
    Any additional comments?
The overarching theme of the book is the conflict between modern and old-fashioned attitudes towards intimacy, relationships and power. It also hints at the benefits and pitfalls of living in a broken family.

    Taking a Gamble on Love
On the night that Min's boyfriend, David, dumps her (in a bar!), he also bets handsome and successful businessman, Cal Morrisey, that he can't get her to sleep with him in a month. Cal is loath to make the bet, and decides to counter David's bet with a less offensive one...that he could get her to have dinner with him that night. Unfortunately Min, who was about to approach him at the behest of her friends, overhears (and misunderstands) part of the conversation. As Min & Cal get to know each other, often trying to avoid their mounting attraction and feelings toward each other, that first night's events continue to haunt them. All of this is compounded by and ex-boyfriend an ex-girlfriend who can't seem to let go, and continually interfere in hopes of getting their exes back.
Jennifer Cruise has included a wonderful cast of characters whose witty conversations are matched by their deep friendship. There are also multiple sub-plots in the book which helps keep every minute fun & exciting. What's really interesting is that Cruise has managed to depict a great attraction between Cal & Min with almost no sex scenes. Deanna Hurst does a good job as narrator. I thought her child's voice was especially adorable.
    Favorite Crusie book so far.
I've listened to 4 Crusie books. This was my first listen a few years ago. Listened to it again this week and it was just as cute the second time around. Pure chick lit and I mean that in a great way. Enjoyed Deanna Hurst's narration.
    PURE JOY!!!!
I love her sarcasm...specially towards her mother. i love all the funny witty humorous 1 liners. i promise you wont be dissapointed!!!
    Another win!
I love this and all of J. Crusie's books - ALL of them. This is definitely a favorite. The really steamy stuff is saved for the end, but there are moments when the iPod will fog up a little throughout. The story is fun, relate-able and very well told. My only complaint is that no one in my life is as witty as ANY of her characters, so real life seems a little duller when I finish off one of her books. That PhD was worth every minute she worked to get it - her books all capture an amazing part of being a "modern" woman. This is a great addition to the J. Crusie collection.
Great Story - narration wasn't that bad
I enjoyed the story very much. It's my favorite Jennifer Crusie - it's funny, and sexy and the growing relationship between the characters is enjoyable. I genuinely liked the main characters in this story - they were nice people - I wanted them to be happy. And I loved that Min was a normal sized woman and Cal appreciated that.

Dear Listener, You don't know me yet, but in a few hours that's going to change. You see, I'm inviting you to my home and my town of Cedar Cove, because I want you to meet my family, friends, and neighbors. Come and hear their stories - maybe even their secrets! I have to admit that my own secrets are pretty open. My marriage failed some years ago, and I have a rather...difficult relationship with my daughter, Justine. Then there's my mother, Charlotte, who has plenty of opinions and is always willing to share them. Here's an example: I'm a family court judge, and she likes to drop in on my courtroom. Recently, I was hearing a divorce petition. In Charlotte's view, young Cecilia and Ian Randall hadn't tried hard enough to make their marriage work - and I agreed. So I rendered my judgement: Divorce Denied. Well, you wouldn't believe the reaction! Thanks to an article by Jack Griffin, the editor of our local paper (and a man I wouldn't mind seeing more of!), everyone's talking. Cedar Cove - people love it and sometimes they leave it, but they never forget it! See you soon...Olivia Lockhart, 16 Lighthouse Road, Cedar Cove, Washington

    Very Light Chick Lit
I found this book on sale for $4.99 as the first of a series and tried it out. It's fun, but nothing really happens in the book, so if you are looking for action, look elsewhere. This is about relationships, and can grow a bit tiresome. But, it was definitely worth $5.
    Drama
It was difficult to guess what this novel was going to unravel just from reading the short description, however I found it enjoyable. It weaved in all the necessary elements of a great drama - deceit, new love, heart break, new opportunities, etc. I enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone in the mood for a fairly light read.
    whatever happened to Dan???
I listened to most of this audiobook twice and still haven't found out what happened to the disappearing husband. He's a pretty large part of the whole plot. Men are pretty weakly portrayed, as another reviewer pointed out.
Cedar Cove coming to Hallmark TV!!
Debbie Macomber's Cedar Grove series starter, 16 LIGHTHOUSE ROAD, is soon to be a Hallmark Movie. Reading the book first is a must for me. Once again, Macomber serves up a compelling woman's relationship book that introduces us new 'friends'.
Olivia lives at 16 Lighthouse Road, and centered the story as a judge who makes an interesting ruling. A young military couple is seeking a divorce after their baby daughter is born prematurely and dies shortly thereafter. Olivia made a bold decision by requiring them to try working through their issues even though both people wanted the divorce.
Olivia' Mom, daughter, and best friend are also involved in difficult and/or interesting life situations. As these different woman share their lives in this book, the reader becomes more and more emotionally involved with their loves, problems, and real-life situations. The books becomes more like a letter from a friend than novel.

A Drake Sisters Story praised for her blend of "action, suspense, and . . . erotically charged romance" (Booklist), New York Times bestselling author Christine Feehan presents the story of Sarah, the eldest of the extraordinary - and magical - Drake sisters."Sarah's come home." Ever since Damon Wilder sought refuge in Sea Haven, he's heard the same breathless rumor pass the lips of nearly every local in the sleepy coastal town. Even the wind seems to whisper her name - a reverie so powerfully suggestive that it carries the curious Damon to Sarah's cliff top home, and seeks to shelter him there. But Damon has not arrived alone. Two men have tracked him to Sea Haven, and into the shadows of Drake House, where Sarah hides her own secrets. And danger - as well as a desire more urgent than either has ever known - is just a whisper away . . .

    Good Choice for Narrator
I really like the Drake Sisters series by Christine Feehan. This story (about eldest sister Sarah Drake) is a good first entry for the series.
It is a bit short, but I believe it (and the second entry featuring Kate Drake) were originally novellas inside anthologies. Plus "Magic in the Wind" costs less than most audiobooks, so that all evens out.
The narrator has a good voice for the narration of Sarah's story. She sounds young and somewhat sweet. That may seem a contradiction when you realize that Sarah is a security expert (supposedly versed in weapons and trained to fight), but the entire tenor of the series hangs on the idea that the Drakes are really kind young women (no matter the flashy careers or flamboyant personas shown to the world). They are the girls next door (who are actually the witches next door, but still the kind of girl your mom wants you to bring home).
It was not a syrupy-sweet reading, please do not mistake me. But it was just as I'd expect Sarah to sound.
This is a refreshing book in that the main male lead doesn't leap in to "save" the woman (even though she is much better trained and better suited to the role than he is). When this couple appears in later issues of this series they seem to be true partners. That is especially refreshing for a Feehan novel.
She has a bad tendancy to make ALL male leads so alpha as to be in serious need of a smack in the head with a heavy object. I like a good alpha hero as much as the next woman, but come ON. Some of her Dark Series "heroes" would end up dead if the heroines were like REAL women.
    Start of a great series
What did you love best about Magic in the Wind?
If you havent met the Drake sisters, this a the first book you'll want to read. Don't be concerned if you can't keep the sisters straight because you will get a chance to know each sister as the series continues. Lot's of magic and mystical happenings set with characters you will enjoy. Be aware that there is graphic (almost pornographic) sex in some of the later books. This one is pretty tame - especially since it is abridged.
    Any additional comments?
I wish that an unabridged version had been an option.
    Magic in the Wind
    This was an enjoyable story.

I needed money. He wanted my virginity. So I sold it.
If I don't pay off my piles of debt, I'm going to lose the one thing I care about - my grandmother. She needs a place to live, people to take care of her, and there's no way I can afford it anymore. But I only have one thing worth any money.
    My virginity.
It was a shot in the dark to put it up for auction online. What kind of person would even bid on something as perverted as this?
    Pierce Pinewood, that's who.
He outbid everyone right away, making it clear he wanted to win. I was relieved and terrified all at once, but I figured it was fine, we'd just sleep together and I'd go on my merry way.
So why, even after meeting me, is he waiting to claim his prize?
Pierce is exposing me to money, glamour, a life I never dreamed of. He's also telling me what lingerie to wear...and what to do with the parts of my body no one is allowed to see. No one but him.
I thought I was selling him one night with me.
I couldn't have guessed how much of me he really wanted.
This is a stand-alone novella with an HEA and no cheating!
Penny Wylder writes just that - wild romances. Happily ever afters are always better when they're a little dirty, so if you're looking for a romance that will make you feel naughty in all the right places, jump right in, and leave your panties at the door!

    Hot and sexy Billionaire love!
This story was about a college student who needed a lot of money to pay for her beloved grandmother's care in a nursing home and turned to an internet site where women sold their virginity for money. This type story has been done before, so it wasn't too original, but I did think it was well done. Maxine Mitchell could narrate the back of a corn flake box and make it sound exciting! A nice little listen where you don't have to think very hard, lol.
    Funny,Sexy, Amazing
This book had romance, love, a little heartbreak, some kink, topped off with a dominant man. I freaking love love love this book. Five stars are not even close to enough to do this book justice. Combine that with the amazing narrator and you've got audible gold.
    Smokin
Surprisingly cute story mixed in with a whole lotta smokin hot goodness.
Bonnie is struggling to pay for her grandmother to stay in a mediocre rehab facility and she only has one marketable asset... her virginity. So she sells it. Just so happens to sell it to a man that fills her every want and need.
It's not reality. It's not deep and emotional. It's short and hot and fun and an adult fairytale.
Maxine Mitchell is fantastic. She was the perfect choice for this character.

    Heartbreaking and heavy
Wow. This one was emotional. I hesitated on the book because I read the preview and could see it would be a heavy story, but after hating the last three I listened to, I finally landed on this one. I'm glad I did. It was adult...something a lot of books have been lacking, and it was deeply heartbreaking and beautiful. At 32, finding a great story that doesn't revolve around college age is getting more difficult, and its hard to get into the mind set.. here, you're dealing with loss and pain that play on your biggest fears. The author nailed it, there were eye roll moments, but at the same time they were fairly relatable. I formed an emotional bond to the characters and even found myself so sad I was throwing it aside only to pick it right back up because I had to know what was next. Brian Pallino was the other reason I finally decided on this one, he and Erin Mallon both are fantastic. Great read, fantastic listen, but prepare yourself to feel the emotions.
Spectacular... except for one little thing
I absolutely adored this book! The author manages to provoke so many feelings from the reader: angst, sadness, anger, humor, lust etc. Faye was the perfect sidekick/best friend and I couldn't wait to hear what would come out of her mouth next. It's difficult to describe my one disappointment with this book without spoiling the climax for future readers. Let's just say that the "plot twist" meant to cause drama towards the end of the book is completely unbelievable, in my humble opinion. The rest of the story was so great though, it was easy to overlook that one issue that nagged at me a little. I'll definitely be looking for more works by this author!
    This gets all the stars
So I have read this book but I grabbed it the second it showed up on Audible. Most of the time books & narration are like books & movies... It just is weird to listen or watch after reading but this was NOT the case with The Air He Breathes.
The book is a wonderful, painful, beautiful tale of love and loss. Brittainy Cherry's words crushed me and made me whole again. I even got a few laughs in there despite the enormous amount of tears that I shed.
Brian Pallino and Erin Mallon were genius. Erin was already one of my favorite narrators, her inner dialogue voice is my all time favorite. It's how I imagine I sound like when I talk to myself. Brian did a fantastic job reading Tris.
There is no down side to this book. There is nothing to critique. It's just that awesome. I can't wait for The Fire Between High and Lo to come out in Audible.
    A BREATHTAKING EMOTIONAL MASTERPIECE
Well Brittainy Cherry I hope you're happy with yourself...

    Members Reviews:
Confused who is hotter - Lucas or the narrator!!
STORY (new adult romance) - I really loved this story. Book 1, "Easy," is Jacqueline's story. This second book is from Lucas' POV. They both cover pretty much the same territory but, since this is told from Lucas' male perspective, it didn't seem repetitive. Lucas has the sexual preoccupation you might expect of a college student, but he's also very sensitive and romantic. First he's obsessed with meeting Jacqueline and then he just wants to love, protect and cherish her. And did I mention he's HOT? (swoon!)
For those who have not heard "Easy," Landon Lucas Maxfield (main character) is emotionally complicated. His happy childhood was interrupted by a horrific event when he was 13, after which time he began going by his middle name and became a partying "bad boy." This book alternates between two timelines - one about Landon, beginning immediately after that event and continuing till high school graduation. The other timeline is told by Lucas, beginning sometime during his senior year in college when he meets Jacqueline. And, yes, by the end of this book you will have answers to all the questions about Lucas that were left unanswered in "Easy."
PERFORMANCE - One of my new favorite narrators. His voice is sexy, sensitive and emotional. He does a great job with the voice of younger Landon, an old man and Landon's country-boy best friend. And when he does the emotional flashback Lucas has of the horrible event, wow! Just wow.
OVERALL - This book contains quite a bit of cursing, especially F-bombs. There's several kissy-feely scenes and some fairly explicit sex scenes as well. There's some fighting between students and also rape. It's Book 2 in the series and can stand alone, but I'd highly recommend you start with Book 1 and hear Jacqueline's story first. Recommended for females of any age who are old enough to deal with the subject matter and have an affinity for bad boys.
    Unbreak my heart, Lucas!
Easy fans rejoice: Breakable is finally out! Easy is Jacquelines story, about a college girl with a broken heart who is reeling after an attack. She falls for her savior, Lucas, who has his own battle scars. In the second book in the Contours of the Heart series we get Lucas backstory. Plus, we get to see the events from Easy from Lucas perspective. This book answers all your burning questions about Lucas, and if you are a Lucas fan (*raises hand*) this book is for you!
Breakable is two stories in one, and Landon/Lucas are two halves of the same coin. Landons chapters deal with the past, up until he leaves for college.

    OMG!!
I listened to this book about 10 times and it's great every time.....Smooth Talking Stranger was just as good, but fell in love with Hardy!! Can't wait for Joe's book!!!!
    A READ ONLY BOOK.
Three stars only because of the narrator, otherwise a 5 star book. I listened to "Smooth Talking Stranger" a year or so ago. I recently discovered the first two of the series. I loved "Sugar Daddy".Both of those books were great and had wonderful narrators. This book however, I could barely finished because of the narrator. Her voice is so wrong for this book. Her voices for the women made them seem old. It wasn't even right for the men, especially Hardy, I was so glad when the book finished and not because of the story.
    Great listen
I really enjoyed this book even though it was difficult to listen when Haven was being hurt. However, all the things that happened to her shaped her and made her who she was and made Harley the best match for her. Again, like the other Lisa Kleypas books the characters are very well developed and the story is excellent. I had a hard time cutting this one off I couldn't wait to hear what happened next. This is the second book in the series, make sure you listen in order. This was excellent.
    This book has it all
This is the best of the "Travis family" trilogy. The book was teriffic and I had a hard time putting it down due to the well-developed story and the interesting characters. Narroration was good.
    A Fun Read
I fell in love with Hardy Cates. Who could help it? I found the book intriguing, but the narrator somewhat annoying. Way too gravelly when she did Hardy, who otherwise is every girl's dream. I'm still getting used to "vivid" love scenes coming out of the speakers of my car while I'm driving, but I managed. This was a good "no-brainer" with a very engaging hero.
