Gwyneth Shepherd's sophisticated, beautiful cousin Charlotte has been prepared her entire life for traveling through time. But unexpectedly, it is Gwyneth who, in the middle of class, takes a sudden spin to a different era!
Gwyneth must now unearth the mystery of why her mother would lie about her birth date to ward off suspicion about her ability, brush up on her history, and work with Gideon, the time traveler from a similarly gifted family that passes the gene through its male line, and whose presence becomes, in time, less insufferable and more essential. Together, Gwyneth and Gideon journey through time to discover who, in the 18th century and in contemporary London, they can trust.
    Critic Reviews:
"Humorous, romantic and suspenseful, the plot is fast-paced and impossible to put down.... The final romantic cliffhanger will leave you thirsty for the next book in this jewel of a series." (
    Justine magazine)
    Members Reviews:
A suspenseful, funny YA with stellar narration!
This YA novel is the first in a trilogy about teenagers who time-travel. The audio is nicely paced and engaging and was easy for the whole family (young teens) to listen to. The story itself has a great mix of suspense and humor. The ending is a bit up in the air and therefore a bit disappointing, but oh well, it just makes us want the next one. And the narrator is perfect. She made the characters come alive and her accents were flawless. We loved it!
    Where's the rest?
What other reviewers said is true; Ruby Red is not a novel, just the beginning of one. It's not that it ends in a cliffhanger--it doesn't--or that it sets up a sequel too obviously. It's that nothing happens, there's no arc, just a slow build-up and then a prologue. Imagine the Hunger Games ending before Katniss stepped in the arena or when she's in but only just begun. Imagine Pride and Prejudice ending with Jane's sickness.
The time travel mystery seems overwrought so far. Gwyneth, a 16-year old time traveler, somes some spirit and intelligence, but needs the assistance and is therefore apparently bound to an organization of a bunch of sinister old men, a few women, and her fellow time-traveller, an older boy. At this point it doesn't seem like she's making many choices. This is not pure time travel. Visions, ghosts, telepathy, and apparently alchemy and magic all play parts in this world.
The reader's voice and style were metallic and mechanical to my ears, a little grating and not a great choice for a dramatic narration in the voice of a teenaged girl.
Not really a stand alone book
I'll start by saying I didn't know this was a young adult book until after I started listening to it. I didn't really mind, but thought perhaps the blurb for the book could have been more specific about this. The book had a good premise, was fast paced and interesting, but it was not a stand alone novel. It didn't have an ending, just a stopping point that prepares you for the next book in the series. I always find this an annoying quality in a book, and for that reason I only gave the story 3 stars. I love a good series, but for me, a good series is a series of stand alone novels that all tie together in the end. Marissa Calin's narration was the high point of the book for me.

    Super exciting 4th adventure!
Where does The Iron Knight rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
Iron Knight is in the top 20 of all fantasy/sci-fi books in my library. It is the fourth book in the series which tends to be boring and overdone by that time. This one is very different because it comes from a different perspective. There is much feeling and growth in the characters and you are cheering for how they come together as friends. I am actually on my second listen and it is better the second time. The voice performance is good, but it is a little difficult at first to get used to because the voices have all been done by a female(who did a great job) in the previous three books. I love it and I know I will listen to it again. If you love the Twilight Series, I think this one is just as good and maybe a little better.
What other book might you compare The Iron Knight to and why?
I would compare it to Harry Potter in the 6th and 7th novels, with a mix of "The Mummy" and "Indiana Jones." It is also a love story and I'm not sure what to compare it to, but it was a very good love story, not too mushy but the end made me teary and that doesn't happen very often. It is also very funny.
Have you listened to any of MacLeod Andrewss other performances before? How does this one compare?
    None that I know of.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, I could not stop listening to it. In fact, I am exhausted from staying up late trying to finish it (for the second time).
    Any additional comments?
The whole series is fantastic. I love it. I'm so happy I own it and know that I can listen to it whenever I want. I know I will want to listen to it again.
Lacks the whining which ruined the other books
this book contains a much higher quality of writing the the rest of the books. The male narrative lacks much of the whining topics that were present and all but ruined the other books. I like the world created for this series.

Anna is looking forward to her senior year in Atlanta, where she has a great job, a loyal best friend, and a crush on the verge of becoming more. Which is why she is less than thrilled about being shipped off to boarding school in Paris - until she meets Etienne St. Clair: perfect, Parisian (and English and American, which makes for a swoon-worthy accent), and utterly irresistible. The only problem is that he's taken, and Anna might be, too, if anything comes of her almost-relationship back home.
As winter melts into spring, will a year of romantic near - misses end with the French kiss Anna - and readers - have long awaited?

Perfect for fans of Meg Cabot
Updated 9/1/2012: 2nd reading of this novel and it filled me with more happiness than the first time. I was able to get a better feel for the minor characters (Rash, Josh, and Mer) and loved them - I would read about their own adventures as well. Of course, I fell in love with St. Clair and I can't believe I forgot how much I adore Anna. Still love this book as much (if not more) than I did the first time I read it.
My first "Chick-Lit" book. If you're wary, DON'T BE! It doesn't matter if you don't think Chick-Lit will be for you or not - you will adore this book. I have been on a YA Contemp binge lately and this has been my favorite so far.
A short list (from a long list) of things that I loved:
Perkins' writing style is free-flowing, nice, and true to the heart of a teenage girl.
Anna is likable. Is she perfect? No, but she is imperfectly perfect. I want Anna as my best friend.
The idea that home can be a PERSON, and not a place.
This book made me feel warm and fuzzy and just plain HAPPY. I smiled while I was reading this book - not (always) a giddy "hehehe - he's so cute" smile - but a genuine smile. That, above all, is what made me fall in love with Anna and the French Kiss.
Tatiana from GoodReads recommends this book for fans of Meg Cabot and I couldn't agree more.
    A top-notch romance
This is one of my favorite recent contemporary books, and I was curious to see how the audiobook experience compared to the print version. This audiobook release was timed with the release of Lola and the Boy Next Door and I picked up both books to revisit.
The audiobook narrator is Kim Mai Guest, who has narrated several books including Incarceron, Dearly, Departed, and The Autobiography of Mrs. Tom Thumb. At first, the voice of Anna sounded a little bubblier than I imaged her. The narration reminded me a little of Deliriums Sarah Drew and her portrayal of Lena. However, Guest quickly won me over with her interpretation of Anna and delivers an authentic performance. She also capably handles the nuances of the other characters including their different accents. She even does a fine job with St. Clairs British accent, and captures the spirit of his character well. There is a roller coaster of emotions found in the book and Guest handles the different feelings needed with ease. The narration flowed well, and the only thing I wondered about is if it would have worked to have a male narrator for St. Clair and the other male roles. Not sure if I would have liked it more, but it did cross my mind.
I loved revisiting this book again and the wonderful Paris setting. If youve never read Anna or want to read it again, try out the audio version.

    Members Reviews:
    Meandering Tale, Abrupt Conclusion
This is Stiefvater's best writing yet, although the story wanders aimlessly and repetetively at times, coming to a quick ending. Not her most cohesive and interesting work, but this author has talent. Worth finishing the trilogy if you enjoyed the first two books.
    ugh!
Well. I have to say THE reason I am giving this book only 3 stars is because of the ending. If this were not the conclusion in this series, I would easily give it a 5. I cannot BELIEVE this series has ended with so much unfinished business. Really, Maggie? A 4th book could easily be conjured up with as many questions as I still have about this story. To be fair, the book is great, but the ending just leaves me hollow and desperate to know more about ALL of the characters and their relationships. I hesitate to say more about what is left unsettled, fearing I may ruin the read for fans of this series. Maybe Maggie Stiefvater will read this review and have mercy on us, and create book #4.
Not as Good as I Hoped
I adored Shiver and Linger, the first two book Wolves of Mercy Falls series, and Ive been looking forward to reading Forever for awhile. Only, I didnt love Forever the way I did the previous two and I cant exactly explain why. It might be because I tend to like the first few books in a series way more than I like the last one. That aside, Forever seemed to lack the magic, the je ne sais quoi, that had made me swoon over the first two.
So what was it that I didnt like? Hmmm. It wasnt the writing. No, Stiefvaters prose were as eloquent as always and the tone continued to be distinctly bittersweet with a hint of melancholy. The characters were their usual selves. Sam was a poetic, loyal, and charming boyfriend while Grace remained cute, smart, and independent. Their roles were reversed this time and it was interesting to see the difference in their perspectives. Isabel and Cole were the same, fickle and snarky, yet at times redeemable. Nothing changed there. The overall story was good and intriguing. I honestly cant think of any other way it could have gone.
Maybe I didnt like the way the story told. It started off slow and then seemed to drag a little. I felt generally unhappy while reading it. If there were moments of happiness they were quickly ushered out to be replaced by serious, sad ones. Dont get me wrong, I dont expect everything in a book to be happy and perfect all the time but I missed having moments that made me smile or laugh. There were some of those moments, but they were rare and I cant think of any off the top of my head. The ending also lacked luster and things didnt feel wrapped up.
If you have read the first two books in the series, you definitely should read Forever. I recommend rereading parts or all of Linger before reading Forever. I wish that I had. I still gave Forever four stars because I still liked it. The overall story was good and as usual it was very well written.

    Members Reviews:
    Disappointed
The first chapter of Nightshade is stunning. So much so that you cannot help but want to continue reading, or in my case listening. Andrea Cremer draws you in with her intriguing story that has clearly caught the attention of many as it graces best selling book shelves. However, this engrossing story left a bad taste in my mouth as the presence of one repeating theme unraveled any chance of me liking this book.
Calla is the alpha wolf in the nightshade pack and arranged to be married to Ren, the alpha of the Bane wolf pack. The plan is set until she meets human boy Shay whose presence makes Calla suddenly doubt her entire world.
What was it that ruined the book for me? The book is very degrading towards women. Calla is the worst heroine ever and she allows herself to be put into ancient gender roles. She reminds the reader frequently that she is a warrior but I found her to be a huge wuss, frequently shivering at everything that scares her. She is all talk and very little action.
Ren, although he redeems himself somewhat in the end, he is sleazy throughout most of the book. Every time he and Calla are in a scene together he has his paws all over her. He makes several sexual advances on Calla and the really, really bad part is she says NO but doesnt stop him. This is not okay. No book should ever encourage the No means yes mentality, especially books aimed towards teenage girls.
Upon reaching the first no means year scene, the book was walking on shaking ground with me but after the second, well, that was the final nail in the coffin for this book. I kept expecting tough warrior Calla to give him a good smack or knee to the balls to prove she in fact is a strong female. She didnt. She even apologizes to him when she stands up for herself. Then he calls her a nun when she says no. Ugh, I cant believe a woman wrote this book.
In addition to the above, the author often refers to Calla in a sexual way. The writing is focused around her body whether its eyes moving over her body taking in her curves, hands gliding over her body, Ren nibbling on her ear when talking with her. The degrading language towards women never stops.
After that the plot, the other characters, the writing, and everything else fell flat. It lost my interest. I cant say I liked any of the three main characters let alone relate to them. Calla is not a heroine I can get behind and her love interests have no appeal to me. I cannot recommend this book no matter how popular it may be.
    Hard to Finsh
I didn't really care for this book. Actually, I had to force myself to finish it. The only reason that I did is that I've already bought the following two books in the triliogy. I only really liked one of the main three characters and I don't think that it is one I'm supposed to like at all.

But Evies about to realize that she may very well be at the center of a dark faerie prophecy promising destruction to all paranormal creatures.
    So much for normal.
    Members Reviews:
Why Did I Wait So Long?
Right now I'm kicking myself for waiting so long to listen to this book. I've had it in my Wish List over 6 months and I'm really mad I left it there so long. This book was wonderful, and the narrator was great too. Very rarely do I find a book that can make me (both) laugh out loud and cry. But, this was one of those pieces of work.
Kiersten White is wonderful at making you understand the true emotions that her characters feel. The love that Evie feels for Lish (her best friend who is also a mermaid), the loathing she feels for Reth (a faerie that seems to stalk her) and the confusion that Lend (an unknown paranormal creature who can steal the appearance of others) brings into her life. Plus, I admire any author that can bring a young adult book to life without any cursing. Instead you get Lish's hilarious monotone voice "bleep"ing. Just try not to laugh when you hear it!
If you're looking for a book to listen to in small intervals during your commute, this is NOT the book for you. This book sucks you in and leaves you wanting more.
    Hilarious fun!
I thought the ditzy Valley-voiced narrative would wear on me but after listening to the sample I couldn't help but laugh and enjoy Emily Eiden's portrayal of Evie, who knows nothing of being a real American teenager except what she's seen on a WB/CW-type teen drama. I'm impressed with Kiersten White's debut novel: the story is clever enough to sate those seeking Buffyesque YA fangs, claws, and things that go bump in the night adventures; the heroine is sympathetic enough to keep you engaged until the end. I even found myself eagerly waiting for the next time Evie would excitedly yell "SHUT UP!" (not in a "please be quiet" sort of way, but a "no way, really? that's awesome!" way). Heck, I'm excited for the next one, and I'll definitely get the audio. (And don't you dare change the reader! She's a keeper!)
Fun & funny book without the bleeping cursing!
I love when ya books can be so heartfelt and not cluttered up with all the foul language and innapropriate sex scenes for their age category. The author really made me feel the emotions of what each character was going through. It drew me in and I can hardly wait to start the next book.
Evie is a 16 yo employee of the IPCA, her job is to subdue all paranormals and bring them back to the facility for neutralizing. But instead of making her older beyond her years the author made her just like any other mall loving, clothes buying, tv series addicted 16 yo out there (except she loves school!). Her best friend is a mermaid who talks through a computer and any curse words come out as "bleep". Evie instantly becomes curious about a guy she captured breaking into the facility & from there it's just pure fun and enjoyment.
I totally recommend this book for all ya and not so ya readers.
    And the narration was PERFECT...

    Can't believe I bought it!
What disappointed you about Dark Flame?
How the author managed to drag out this story line for a sixth book is unimaginable.
What could Alyson Noel have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
She could have finished the series by book 3 or 4.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Katie Schorr?
I thought the narrator was wonderful. Her voice sounded just like I envisioned.
You didnt love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
    No.
    Enough already
What disappointed you about Dark Flame?
I will not go any farther with this series, I am so sick of this whiny little girl I could pull my hair out. The first book was cute, after that she becomes just a whiny little girl who screws everything up after constantly being told not to.
What do you think your next listen will be?
    Anything but this crap.
What about Katie Schorrs performance did you like?
She comes across as a young girl, she performs very well.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Disappointment, after the last book, I was about over these characters, now with this book I am definitely done.
    Any additional comments?
save your money, just go to the mall and find a couple young whining girls, and you will have this book for free.
    Dark Flame
I was happy that Ever finally made a good decision but I can't wait til there's a happy ending with this series!
    Pretty good read, but...
I really like this story, lacks a little depth and character development. I appreciated some of the closure provided as the story paced, but there was a struggle to get to the end of this one.
This Series is Still Burning Strong.
The Immortals series is complicated and layered. It has everything a Young Adult series should have without getting overly angsty. And I adore the narrator - she has a great voice for characters of this age.

    The gang is back together
Rose and Demetri will never catch a break! Strigoi Demetri is pursuing newly graduated Guardian Rose and it does get exciting. The last book left you excited to see what happens next and this one leave you saying,"Wait! what? That is the middle of a chapter not an ending!" I really hope they land on a recurring narrator for the next one. This narrator was so distracting that it took away from two of my favorite characters [Demetri and Adrian] Her male voices were terrible and distracting. I loved the story, but my advice would be to preview before downloading. The narrator nearly ruined it for me.
    Very Good Want More
As usual Richelle Mead does not disappoint. It was a smooth transition from the last book and she left me wanting more and more... Ah how long before the next book!!!
    Emily Shaffer
Man o man! Why couldn't Emily Shaffer have narrated the entire series?? She's really grown on me and captures the characters well. I enjoyed this book far more than the other gals narrations!
    loved it!
I really enjoyed the whole series so far. I'm glad they brought the girl that does the different accents and different voices for the characters
    5 Star Series!
I have listened to this book about 20 times so far. I absolutely love this series! I also think that Emily Shaffer is an amazing narrator. if you liked these books I would also recommend the Bloodlines series, written and read by the same people.

    Critic Reviews:
The Iron King is a must read! (New York Times bestselling author Gena Showalter)

    Fantastic
This book was fantastic, it was a wonderful blend of traditional Faerie elements (Oberon and Titania, Seelie and Unseelie Fae etc.) But also adds some suprisingly modern twists on the folklore. It has a wonderful romance and the characters are interesting and deep. I found it very easy to relate to the main character, a teen girl with typical teen troubles embarking on a fantastic quest and growing as a person. I can't wait for a sequel to come out because I could not stop listening to this one.
    Potentally Epic.
No spoilers in this review :) An extra 200 colorfully written pages would have made this book epic. Warning: The Iron King has cussing in it.
Most notable positive aspect of the book - The narrator pronouncing Fairy and Pixy as if it were not a child's nursery book.
    Entertaining:
It is a Mythical Magic meets normal girl. At times it was extremely entertaining to watch as the author switched us from genre to genre. Fairy land, then Earth, then Supernatural, then back to Fairy Land and all the time having the main heroine and heroes being consistent in their responses, making them lovable and real characters. The author is true to the history of the legends. She doesn't change things like "Satyrs" (who are very sexual beings, and many times aggressive).
    Downsides:
There are a LOT of characters in the beginning so it is difficult to remember everything (including all the character's names), but as you go along you realize who is important and who is not important. The narrator is not ENTIRELY consistent with the voice responses. When Ash shouts "Watch out!" sometimes it sounds like someone else is saying it because the voice inflections are out of Ash's calculating character.
The BIGGEST downside is the author or editor's faultThe descriptions of actions are hastily written and shallow. It leaves the relationships and scenery a bit...malnourished.
    Example:
The book reads, "I picked up Ethan, and started to walk towards the door to the hall. Then he reached up to hold my hand while we traversed down the hall together" Wait..what? I pictured her picking up Ethan in a cradle position in her arms, just to find out they are walking hand in hand together? Unclear at bestwouldn't her hands be busy holding him? . This makes it extremely difficult to picture the action and fight scenes because this kind of writing continues through the entire book.

    Loved it!
I have been looking forward to this book since I finished the first one, and I was not disappointed!
I am in my 30's, and though this is for YA readers, I really enjoyed it. There is some of the expected teenage angst/lust etc, but it's not over the top. :)
What I have really enjoyed is the plot of each book - I don't want to give anything away, but Rachel Vincent really has put together a storyline that is quite different from other supernatural Sci Fi... if you are a little tired of vampires, witches, and were's, then you need to listen to these!
Can wait for the next one!
Another great book! Hooked on this series!
If you could sum up My Soul to Save in three words, what would they be?
Adventurous, creative, fun. (With a dash of sexy)
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
    Yes
    Any additional comments?
Cannot wait to get on with the next book!
    Enchanting Fun
Kaylee Cavanaugh is a banshee. That means when someone dies, she screams uncontrollably. So how come when she and her boyfriend, Nash, are at a rock concert and the pop star falls down dead before them, Kaylee doesn't scream? Maybe because the pop star had no soul? Looks like someone is convincing teenagers to sell their souls for fame and fortune and Kaylee is caught in the middle and the only way to get out is to travel to the Netherworld.
I really enjoy this series of books. They're fun, easy to listen to and a bit captivating. The author does a good job of selling her story and making me want to keep listening to it. They're narrated by Amanda Ronconi and she does a wonderful job reading the books. Her voices are convincing and believable and she seems to capture the attitude and voice nuances of teenagers.
    Interesting sequel.
I really enjoyed the prequel and the first book. With the second book I seemed to have lost my desire to finish the series. This is a good story but it feels like it might be a downward spiral from here. Im seeing more teenage angst, jealousy and annoying side of am I good enough? / why me? from Kaylee that isnt endearing her to me. For an unknown reason I dont really like her boyfriend Nash. Although I love to read many different genres, this book might just be too much of a teenage book for me. Amanda Ronconi is great as always.
    Well Done
Would you listen to My Soul to Save again? Why?
I'm glad I listened to it, but I wouldn't listen to it again, I would read the back of the book to refresh my memory.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I liked Todd the best, I'm hoping Kaylee and Todd get together.
