Hush, Hush perfect young adult book
I sadly realized this book was a little young for me. The book is similiar to Fallen, which I have listened to as well. The reader is easy to listen to and keeps you in the book. Very good book.
Inklings Read Reviews: Hush, Hush
I have a love/hate relationship with this book for one big reason: Why does Patch have to be such a jerk!? I mean, yeah I get that he has his reasons, but still. Im growing tired of seeing YA characters falling for assholes. I also hate the fact even with him being such a jerk, I still fell for him just like Nora. I dont know what it is that makes him so damn attractive. Really, it was quite frustrating! Can you say STALKER? I think the police would have been called by chapter 4 if I was Nora.
My initial reaction to Hush, Hush, was that it was going to be just like Twilight. Initial bio scene anyone? I was pleasantly surprised to find that the plot was quite original. It really picked up toward the end leaving me wanting more! I was super intrigued by Patch and his past. Hes such a mysterious character. At first I hated the dynamic between Nora and Patch, but Fitzpatricks writing quickly changed that. She wrote some super sexy and cute moments between the two. In the end, I fell for the sexy jerk of a fallen angel.
Ill be honest that there were one or two parts I found VERY predictable. Other than that, this was a great listen and I will definitely be continuing the series! On another note: Caitlin Greer is a great narrator.
Enjoyable
A fun read with a somewhat new twist on an older story of angels and Nephilim. I got a bit irritated by the main characters at times, but overall I still enjoyed the book.
Good story, narrator not so good
As a recent connoisseur of young adult fiction, mainly the para romance type, this book was recommended to me. As I am a 30 something mom of two, the only way to "read" a book is to have one read to me. I found the narrator distracting, and sometimes horrible. At one point she had to demonstrate an Irish accent that was just this side off laughable. With that being said, I thought the story itself was pretty good, although I was having a hard time relating to the main character at times, I will chalk this up to the fact that I am not 15 anymore. I would recommend this book to others, but probably not the audio version.
Uggghh!
This book wasnt for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
A 10 year old girl
Would you ever listen to anything by Becca Fitzpatrick again?
Maybe
How did the narrator detract from the book?
Every word she said detracted from the book. I kept finding myself cringe each time she would talk. 8 hours of cringing. Just because the genre is young adult doesn't mean it needs to be read in an exaggerated pre-teen voice.
