Shame on Audible for not checking the producer's wk
The editing quality was vastly substandard. There was a missing chapter and two chapters that were placed out of order ( chapter 11 should have been 12 and chapter 12 should have been 11) , and one entire chapter repeated not to mention all the "cuts" that were to happen and never did due to slip ups. There were scenes that would have the same sentence repeated and the first was not cut out or the narrator would say "again" and repeat what he needed to and it was all there. Shockingly enough it seems no one bothered checking the editing job since the length was so long. Very disappointing.
The story itself was wonderful. It was long enough to be three books. As the reader you will feel an emotional ride. Saddened, happy, shocked, elated and disappointed all throughout the book. Wait and purchase after the errors are corrected otherwise you will be frustrated to no end.
    31 HOURS OF EXCITEMENT!!!
Kathryn Le Veque has written a gripping story that grabs your attention from the beginning and never lets you down. This book was so emotionally riveting to me that at one point I literally threw my ipod across the room! Of course, I picked it back up... but the point is.... I've never done that before with a book.

    Publisher's Summary:
From the New York Times best-selling author of the Survivor's Club novels comes "an epic love story" (Publishers Weekly) of intrigue and deception and the promises that can break a heart...
"I will love you all my life and even beyond that." Even at 15, Jeanne, the privileged daughter of a royalist EmigrE, knew what she liked: Englishman Robert Blake, bastard son of a marquess. Yet his questionable birth rendered him forbidden. Forced to part, they were still young enough to believe in tomorrow. But as time passed, that brief ephemeral flirtation at Haddington Hall faded into memory.
Eleven years later in Portugal, during the Peninsular Wars, they meet again, both of them spies, and destined to be working on opposing sides. He is now a captain with the British army. She is the widowed Marquesa das Minas - sometimes going by the name Joana da Fonte. However for only one of them does the flicker of recognition still burn. Amid the fury of war and in the shadow of secrets, passion flares once again. But for Joana and Robert, each entrusted to a dangerous mission that demands deception, falling in love could be the most dangerous risk of all.

    Couldn't bear to finish listening
I agree with the reviewer who wonders if this could have been written by Mary Balogh. Some of her books are so delicious but this one was so painful to listen to that I couldn't get past the first half. The "Heroine" is SOOOO annoying and the story line is so predictable that I kept wishing they would just get on with it and finish so I could move on to another story. This whole soldier series has been so lacking in the magic of Mary Balogh's other books but this one is definitely the worst. Makes me sad since I have loved many of her other books. If you like strong, compassionate heroines who work hard to overcome difficulties, this book is not for you. If you like a whiny, selfish, self-centered heroine who torments the hero for 14 hours of listening, then jump right in!
Love Mary Balogh but this was the worse
Would you ever listen to anything by Mary Balogh again?
Yes, I read all her books.
What does Rosalyn Landor bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
She is worth listening to. She portrays the characters very well.
    Any additional comments?
I usually do not write comments but this time I felt the need to warn others. Usually the hero has the too big ego but this time it was the heroine. I love a strong female character but this one had no honor or respect for others. She is self-centered and beyond liking.
This could not have been written by Mary Balogh.!
    Any additional comments?
I listened to this book for the first 3 1/2 hrs. I kept thinking that it had to pick up soon, this was Mary Balogh after all. I have read and listened to most of Mary Balogh's books and even when I was not completely happy with any book, none of then was as bad as this one is. If this book had been my introduction to Mary Balogh, I would not have ever tried another. That saddens me,,as I fear that may have happened to someone, and they might have missed the many wonderful books written by Mary balogh that so many of us have read and re-read over and over again.

A marriage of convenience becomes a rollicking adventure in this historical romance.
He stated quite bluntly--and much to Isabella's relief--that theirs would be a marriage in name only. But neither Harry nor Isabella was aware of the other's disguise, contrived in vain to thwart the impending nuptials. Isabella was not the selfish ice princess she seemed, nor was Harry a mincing dandy but rather a merry profligate.
A search for buried treasure and a thwarted suitor out for revenge add adventure to the marital mayhem as two hearts discover that love lies no further than the nearest kiss.

    The Funniest and Most Fun!
This is a perfectly wonderful story, full of Regency silliness, comical characters and handsome and beautiful heroes and heroines. It is pure fun and reminds me of Marion Chesney's sisters series.
Worst book ever! Encourages Rape Culture.
This book loves rape and hates women. A woman goes walking alone, gets attacked by a rapist, and the hero says she brought it on herself, as if being a woman were an invitation to rape. Her attacker is overcome with passion for her, and can't control himself. If he loves her, he should have her.
Heroine suddenly overcomes lifelong fear of men simply because her young friend tells her that she's too sheltered and treating women like objects is normal. She is unphased by being abducted, suddenly falls in love with the man she hates, who has been lying to her and insulting her the whole time. She loves him because he saved her (because he was too cowardly to tell her the truth and too controlling to let her make her own decisions) and assures her that there are good men in the world, who respect women and would never treat women as objects. He then treats her like an object, by pinning her down and threatening to keep her there until she agrees to marry him. He INFORMS her that she will be coming with him to the wars, no matter how dangerous it is, because he wants her in his bed to do whatever he wants with. Having saved her from one dude who only wanted her body, he goes ahead and strips her and climbs on top. Very respectful. He can't help it because his passions are too great and that's what she gets for being beautiful and having a nice figure. His passion actually angers him and drives him to treat her badly. WTF?
Nobody levels with anyone else. Main characters are unlikable, boring, carry on their stupid charades way too long, not funny. Then, it just ends.
    Had a few good moments
I read this free on KU. There's no doubt about this being the weakest series that I've read by this author. The stories do stand alone and it's not necessary to have read any of the other books. Here the h is very beautiful but she was scarred when she witnessed a bit of an orgy by accident when she was younger. She's terrified of the interactions between men and women so during her first season she put on an ice princess facade and any of her suitors. When it happened during her second season, her parents decided to arrange a marriage for her with the son of an Earl. The H, who is the said son, heard about the beautiful Isabella and decides to put on a fop persona whenever they come in to contact. In the background there is a villain, who was one of the h's rejected suitors and he is out for revenge.

    Amazing!
    Any additional comments?
Okay, so I've never really gotten into audiobooks before. Mostly because I've always been able to find enough books to occupy me and I never really thought I'd enjoy them. But I was shocked to realize that I actually loved them. They make things much simpler when you're busy to read a book and the narrator can really bring the book to life.
I did enjoy the sweet romance between Richmond and Arissa while it could also get hot. But the one thing that threw me off whenever it was mentioned was the age difference. That was the one thing that sort of took away from their rather sweet romance when it was actually mentioned.
It sort of approached different conflicts before backing away a bit. But it also meant that there were several conflicts going on at once. One external, the other more so internal. Overall, it kept my attention and made things easy to follow.
You honestly felt the character's pain and joy throughout the book. Partly from the narrator but also through the words that he was reading.
I enjoyed this audiobook and I'll definitely have to try some more audiobooks in the future.
    Great story and narration
But the ending was abrupt and left me thinking Ms Veque ran out of time or words. Too bad as the story was engaging.
    Great Story!
Kathryn is a fantastic spinner of tales.

    Oh My Laird!
Such a sweet highland romance. Loved that the author took these two characters out of their regular environment for them to begin a new life together. I hope there's more to come with glimpses of these characters in future books of their clan perhaps.
If you have the chance, listen to the whole series from start to finish.
    Exciting, captivating & thrilling romance.
Which character as performed by Dave Gillies was your favorite?
No one does a Scottish accent better than a scots man. Dave is great.

You can't fight destiny! Living all alone in a small cottage with her dog as her only companion, Lady Jane fears someone will return her to her husband's home and put her on trial for murder. A woman with a dark secret, learning how to care for herself without all the privileges she once knew, finds a Highlander badly beaten and near death on her step.
Laird Alexander feels responsible for his wife's death and his newborn son is a constant reminder of his dead wife. Needing time alone, he sails off without any true destination in mind. Alexander finds himself on English soil, badly beaten and left for dead. As Alexander continues to heal and Lady Jane continues to care for him, love begins to blossom between them. Destiny has it's own plans for these two lost souls, and soon find themselves in each other's arms. Seeking comfort, refuge, or just wanting to feel alive, becomes an experience neither one of them can forget or deny. I loved this story. I was on the edge of my seat with excitement. An absolute must read.
    Loved it
This was another delightful story is full of passion, adventure, and I glad that both Alexander and Jane found love and each other, despite so many interferences from greedy and spiteful people.
I discovered another great voice in Mr. Gillies', easy to listen to, warm and passionate. Looking forward to listen to more of his narrations.
    Wonderful!

I enjoyed both the story and the narration. It was a great escape and a wonderful romance. Who can resist Highlanders? :)
Highly recommend reading or listening to this.
I enjoyed listening to the story of Jane and Alexander. Alexander's guilt over the loss of his wife did not keep him from helping the secretive Jane. Despite the brutality of her late husband, Jane recognized her feelings for the Highlander.

    Consistently Good Writer!
I have listened to many of Kathryn Le Veque's books and she always writes interesting stories that are emotionally charged. You can always count on her books to be filled with true to life dialog with believable challenges along the way. This book also has light humor to keep you smiling. The narration of Brad Wills adds emotion and excitement to this Medieval tale.
I recommend this story to those who enjoy a good story along with a sweet romance. ;-)
    Wonderful story excellently told
Mr. Wills brings to life any story he is narrating and this one is no exception. Loved it from beginning to end.
    Emotionally Gripping!
What did you love best about Netherworld?
It literally swept me away to another fantastic world! It's filled with all kinds of emotions, sadness, hope, joy and happiness! When Keller meets Chrystobel, his future wife, he suddenly senses that something is wrong and that the resident of the castle are hiding dark secrets. The story grabs you and holds you until the very end.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Sir Keller de Poyer was my favorite because he was a respected knight and a great protector but he was, also awkward with people. This made him a refreshing and unique character!
What about Brad Willss performance did you like?
Brad Will has done it again! His voice was perfect because it was the way I imagined Keller's voice.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I never listen to an audio in one sitting, I prefer to taste it chapters by chapters. Listening to audio, relaxes me! And since, I'm a huge fan of Kathryn Le Veque's medieval novels, it's always a delight to listen to her stories. They totally captivate me!

Once again, Im captivated by this author-narrator team. I had the opportunity to listen to this audio twice. Second time around, it was just as exciting and suspenseful as the first. A great production from start to finish. Ms. Le Veques stories intensify emotions with her captivating plots. She brilliantly draws the reader/listener emotionally--hook, line and sinker. Come back to a time when manners are everything and rules are made to never be broken. Come back to a time when men are in charge and women do what they are told...
    Yeah, that never happened.
Welcome to Megan Bryce's Regencyland, where ladies with backbone get what they want. Where a woman can thumb her nose at rules and care little for convention, and yet somehow, unexpectedly and most reluctantly, find love.
    To Tame A Dragon
Lady Amelia Delaney is known for her sharp tongue, no-nonsense attitude, and sizable fortune. Numerous suitors have tried to win her hand for the money, for the challenge, and for a rather unfortunate bet. She knows the unflattering reasons behind her numerous proposals- can she ever accept that a man would want to marry her just for herself?
Jameson Pendrake is a devil-may-care dandy who cares for naught but fun and fashion. But behind his laughing green eyes lies a dark history, and he calls off his wedding because of his fear of repeating the past. He can not simply give up on the idea of marriage- a wife is the best defense against the yearly crop of scheming mothers and their frilly daughters. But to allay his fears he needs a woman strong enough to laugh in the face of his past. A woman unflappable, unwavering, and unbroken. He knows just the woman. The trick, it seems, is in getting her to accept.

    So Sorry Miss Cavanaugh
This book in no ways can hold a candle to others in this series. The best part being that by skipping this this volume it won't adversely effect reading the remaining. To me it feels as if Miss Bryce didn't particularly like writing this story and there was a deadline so she decided not to invest any of herself and to just get it over with. I hate when and otherwise decent writer deliberately shots herself in the foot.
    Great books
I just love these books! There laugh out load good. Please, please write more. I can't wait for all of Megan's books to be in audio
    flawed characters and good story
    spoiler alert probably.
    be warned.
right, so Amelia who is fiesty and called the dragon, was once the subject of gossip due to a scandal she wasn't part of.
as usual for these types of books, feisty just seems to mean a bit rude and snarky.
Amelia's got a large dowry so shes alright.
Jameson is a dandy. he doesn't want a wife and so gets kicked in the nads by his betrothed as he cancels wedding one day before.
the exfiance, Clarice, becomes Amelia's bff as she tries to help her after Jameson's refusal.
    pros:
Clarice and robin the supporting characters are nicer than the main ones. trust me, you'll be cheering them on.
    cons
I honestly don't see what these people see in each other. he's a fashion forward arse and shes a pain in one.
the lack of caring about the lower classes or the mention of them is annoying.
the narrators posh voice is grating until chapter three, but gets into stride. I wouldn't expect much from her man voices.

    A lady and an outlaw...

Stranded in Scotland with a dangerously handsome Highlander, she must put aside her genteel sensibilities and learn to survive.
Cain Sinclair rescues the prim and proper Margaret, but he knows she'll never want a man like him. As a self-proclaimed sinner, he lives his life from one day to the next. He unravels every thread of decorum she possesses, tempting her to throw away propriety.
Margaret sees a man worth saving, but Cain fights her efforts to reform him. When Cain risks everything to save his brother from the hangman's noose, Margaret must break all the rules to get him back... or lose him forever.

I enjoyed reading the whole series of the Andrew sisters. Finding their true love in the most unlikely places. I laughed I cried and was surprised by the hidden suspense. Good reads.
    Margaret's Story; Disappointing Narration
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Sue Pitkin?
Sue was better in the first 3 books, but this was not good. Her men's voices were never the best, but yikes. The voices she used for Henry and Beatrice was grating, seriously grating on the ears and nerves. The villains, while also grating, were understandable. The other men were just plain irritating. Cain Sinclair's voice had a sinister quality, one that I found out-of-character. Margaret's voice was not consistent, which bugged me. I keep a log of Good and Bad narrators. This book caused me to move Sue Pitkin from Good to a new category: So-So.
    Any additional comments?
This is the fourth and final book in the Secrets in Silk Series. While it's predominantly the story of Margaret Andrews, the 25-year old unmarried second Andrews sister, it pulls in a lot of details from the other three books. It ties some loose ends, and even gives us a pleasant surprise in the epilogue.
Margaret is the straight-laced daughter (as in "unlaced"), the good daughter, who always obeyed all the rules, sought to please her parents, and complied with British societal mores. She gets caught up in an attempt to save her sister, Amelia, who was drugged and kidnapped by an English Lord. (Amelia's story is book 3.) However, Margaret is involved in a serious accident while searching for her sister. Book 4 tells the story of her accident, recovery, and return to her parents' home in Scotland.
This is another good book in the series. Honestly, I wasn't expecting to like it as much as I did. Given Margaret's personality (even though I knew the book would have some spicy parts) I thought it would be a good story to sum up the series while telling her story. Although it was all that, it had a story all its own that was full of action and intrigue. I liked it!
    Didn't like this narration
This was okay and a good way to wrap up the series. The story was enjoyable enough if one doesn't look too deep.
What really ruined this for me was the narration. For some reason, in this final book in the series, the male voices on this audiobook were horrid. The narrator just missed the mark.
