    Good just like the first
This book which is the second in the trilogy was just as good as the first. I got through this book in only a couple of days. Now I'm just waiting for the third book to come out.
    Continuing the great work
If you liked 'No Heaven', then you'll love 'No Hell'. Keeps the story very interesting and fast paced. Can wait for 'No Religion'. Great work, Lex.
Loads of Payoff and Payback - A Very Satisfying Read
This installment in the trilogy wraps up a lot of threads from the previous "No Heaven" quickly and efficiently. And, while it describes a stupefyingly complex conspiracy, it's written in such a way that it all makes perfect sense - so much sense, in fact, that the reader wonders if, maybe, this could really happen.
The action in this volume really picks up, as well. If there was one complaint I could dig up regarding the "No Heaven" installment, it was that there was a lot of explanation and set up. This book takes all of that and pays off in grand fashion. The twists and turns, and the thrills, ratchet up at a steady pace, pushing faster and faster all the way to the end that culminates in a huge event that may mean the end, or may mean things are only just beginning. No matter which, the ending of this volume was extremely satisfying. Answering plenty of questions and posing quite a few more. Most of all, leaving me feeling excited and eager to get my hands on the next volume.
If you're looking for well-developed characters, an intellectually stimulating story-line and plenty of twists, turns and action, I highly recommend this book and its predecessor. Kudos to the author!
    Fast-paced and easy-reading science-fiction/fantasy novel
The first book in Lex Allen's "Eloah" series ("Eloah: No Heaven") ends with a major character telling another that they are going on a treasure hunt. And what a treasure hunt it is! Along the way, clues are unraveled, history is reviewed, and new villains slouch into the light from their shadowy haunts as they position themselves for confrontation. On the journey we meet Neo Druids, a stupendously powerful opposing force at Stonehenge, and attend a meeting of a group much like the fabled (or are they?) Illuminati, but even more manipulative and significantly crueler.
This penultimate volume answers many questions the reader will have been left with after the conclusion of the first book.

One Christmas morning, while young Amish twins Henry and Harvey are sledding, they find a big black dog wandering in a field. They adopt the Newfoundland and name him Lucky, and he soon becomes their best friend and playmate.
When tragedy strikes and Harvey drowns in a spring creek, Henry's only source of comfort is his furry companion. To make matters worse, the Depression is especially hard on Henry's parents who have more children than they can care for. He is sent to live with another family, where he becomes enchanted with Katie Stoltzfus.
Eventually, Lucky passes away, leaving a hole in Henry's heart, and he wonders if he will ever find another friend as faithful and loving. As Henry grows up, he has other dogs, but none are as special as the Newfoundland he and his brother once cherished.
When Katie marries another man, it seems Henry will never be happy again. Every passing Christmas reminds him of the people and animal friends now missing from his life. Though, no holiday story is complete without a miracle.
In A Dog for Christmas, bestselling author Linda Byler delivers a beautiful Christmas story of quiet triumph in the face of lifelong adversity. After years of loneliness and longing, Henry is finally rewarded with a hard-won love, a family to call his own, and a new best friend. Could there possibly be a better gift than that?

    Thank you
A very good book by Linda Byler
A very good book by Linda Byler. If you want a heartwarming story and at the same time a real look at how God works in your life during even the hardest of times than this book is for you. Henry and Harvey Esh were twins of Rueben and Savilla Esh they were two of 13 and when their mother passed their father remarried. When life became to much it was decided that Henrey and Harvey would move to live with another family, Ephraim and Rachel King who had three girls, Malinda, Katie, and Anna. Life was very different from what Henrey and Harvey were use to and they soon realized their new parents were patient, loving and kind, but still they longed for something beyond their reach. Was it their old life? Their mother who passed?
Then just as if God himself knew they needed it Lucky (the dog) appeared this helped to fill a place in their hearts. However as with all things life is never easy and when tragedy stricks how will this effect their life yet again? Don't miss out on reading this wonderful book! I highly reccomend it!
A Story of Loss, Adversity and Healing
This is a heartwarming story about a special bond between a young man and his Black Newfoundland dog during the dark days of America's 1930s Depression. This story certainly has a healing quality for anyone who has suffered loss and wondered if things can ever feel right again and for those who believe in Divine Providence, how holes in the heart can be mended through the perfect Christmas Gift.
    Highly recommended
Another captivating novella by a real Old Order Amish author. Since this delightful and touching story spans the seasons, it would be an enjoyable read all year long. Linda Byler is a skilled writer and demonstrates keen insights into human nature, plus realistic glimpses of Amish life.

This a handpicked collection of some of the greatest Christian stories ever written. Many were written by the most celebrated authors of all time - such as Leo Tolstoy, Mary Twain, and Johanna Spyri.
When we speak of these works as Christian stories, we mean that each story has a powerful Christian message based on Jesus' teachings. Three of the stories are from Jesus himself. Others were written by devout believers like Henry Van Dyke and Johanna Spyri. Yet, one of the authors, Mark Twain, was not a Christian himself. Leo Tolstoy radically embraced the teachings of Jesus, but he struggled most of his life with orthodox Christian doctrines. Yet, the stories included herein from both Twain and Tolstoy reveal profound insights into the teachings of Christ.

A book that makes you actually stop and think of how your reflection can harm or help others.
I was moved by the beautiful Dedication that Elrich Martin, Christian author of God's Faith Mirror: Do You Glance or Gaze Into Your Daily Mirror, wrote to his wife and two daughters, such a loving husband and father.
The Forward sets the tone of the two stories, each completely different, but each finding out how God's reflection in their lives helped them to understand the life they were living. Some parts where heartbreaking, but author Martin kept the main flow of the book in an even pace.
I love the whole concept of how we see ourselves as looking into a mirror and seeing God's reflection of how other people see us. Here's just a preview of the book...Do you see yourself as God's image or your own self-image where the outer matter more than the inner? Do you realize you and me are representing God on this earth...
This book is broken down into easy to understand chapters, depicting each mirror of our emotions. The question remains...how will we react to the reflections of God?

    Inspired by true events....
Losses send a woman's soul into its darkest winter....
Maria has cared for her very ill mother for many years. Her burdens are heavy, causing a sadness bordering on darkness. When she discovers her historic barn is now home to a mother cat and kittens, she feels lighter than she has in years. As the kittens grow, they teach her as only animals can do.
Then tragedy strikes. As Maria loses her family, the darkness envelopes her like the heavy fog that blankets her Blue Ridge Mountain home each morning. She creates a scorecard: God: 9, Maria: 0. Her questions turn into anger at God. She searches to find answers as to why her loving God would take away so much in such a short time.
How will she learn to trust again? Can the kittens in her barn help her heal?
    Members Reviews:
Who knew that barn cats could bring about such insight
I was a bit skeptical when I first started this book...a true story with talking animals....huh...then I decided to listen with an open mind. This is so much more than barn cats...Maria lost every immediate family member before the age of 50! She was a dedicated caretaker of her sick mother and had a tender heart for animals. She adopted a stray barn cat and its kittens and they provided comfort during the stressful time of caring for her ailing mother. Then one by one, her animals began to pass away. How does a person deal with so much loss? Maria was angry at God for a while but eventually found her way...the Christian life has hills and valleys...but trusting that your God knows what hes doing tends to bring comfort
Maybe for Charlotte's Web & Dr. Dolittle fans. . .
But clearly not for me nor, I would image, most rational adults in search of a book dealing with loss and grief along with questioning God. This book gives animals not only a voice, but cognizant thought processes in relating to humans. Although the author may be trying to write about and work through such losses and questions (publishers' summary claims it is inspired by true events), it fails miserably in my humble opinion. The reasons for that are multifaceted. If the book is trying to address adult issue, it should refrain from using the mechanisms (talking animals and sing-song narration) found in children's books. Secondly, to suggest that the work is religious, spiritual, and/or Christian borders on heresy. Quoting Scripture, then using a dead bird as a sign of God's comfort borders on absurdity; again in my humble opinion. It appears as if the author is taking normal life events and and interpreting them as redemptive work. Between the talking animals, Scripture quotations, and the childlike narration this book is just going in too many directions to ever come together as a work that speaks to adult emotions.
That being said, I do realize that this book is a work of fiction and thus gives the author license to take their tale in whatever direction they wish. However, aside from animal lovers who tend to humanize theirs pets, I would not recommend it to those looking for an enriching read/listen. Finally, I have never given a book this low of a grade; perhaps if it were in a different category ones expectations of the content would differ.
