    Publisher's Summary:
London, 1889. For Ira Adler, former rent-boy and present plaything of crime lord Cain Goddard, stealing back the statue from Goddard's blackmailer should have been a doddle. But inside the statue is evidence that could put Goddard away for a long time under the sodomy laws, and everyone's after it, including Ira's bitter ex, Dr. Timothy Lazarus. No sooner does Ira have the porcelain dog in his hot little hands, than he loses it to a nimble-fingered prostitute.
As Iras search for the dog drags him back to the mean East End streets where he grew up, he discovers secrets about his own past, and about Goddard's present business dealings, which make him question everything he thought he knew. An old friend turns up dead, and an old enemy proves himself a friend. Goddard is pressing Ira for a commitment, but every new discovery casts doubt on whether Ira can, in good conscience, remain with him.In the end, Ira must choose between his hard-won life of luxury and standing against a grievous wrong.

    Brilliant book, Phenomenal audio experience!
I'm a lover of audiobooks. Even if I were able to physically read on the bus - I can't, it makes me feel ill - there's still something so incredibly wonderful about the spoken word, and the experience of listening to a great story being told. Usually, I do this to make the time pass by on the long trek to and from work, or when I'm doing something tedious like the laundry or dishes. For "The Affair of the Porcelain Dog" I was instead scurrying around, trying to find any excuse to be able to keep listening, and even wearing my ear-buds while I did routine stuff all the way to the moment I had to open the doors for the day.
I listened on my break. I listened on my lunch. I listened in the bath. I even got up early on the day of my closing shift so I'd have the two full hours of time I needed to finish the book before my work shift started.
In short? Jess Faraday's "The Affair of the Porcelain Dog" was the best audiobook experience I've had in years. There are a few sides to that experience.
One, the writing was so completely engaging that I was happily drawn into the narrative from step one. The setting - a Holmes-era tale in London at it's most coal-caked and financially stratified, "The Affair of the Porcelain Dog" is also Holmes-esque in its execution, pulling you into a mystery from the opening that is as steeped in the time and place and culture as it is in the richly drawn characters. The main voice, Ira Adler, is such a charming character even when he's being selfish or spoiled that I was smitten instantly. An orphan and former rent-boy, Ira is living in luxury now at the beck and call - and bed - of Cain Goddard, who despite his genteel appearance is in fact a crime lord making most of his living off the legal opium trade. Ira, no slouch in the street arts of lock picking, pick pocketing, and capable of thieving with the best of them, is tasked by Goddard to recover the titular piece of artwork, which is both ugly and apparently contains a secret that could ruin Goddard, and bring Ira's comfortable new life to an end. Of course, in a mystery as tightly drawn as this one, there are far more players than that - including the wonderfully written Timothy Lazarus, a giving clinic doctor who is after the same object d'art for his own friend - and Goddard's rival.

Poulson greets him with curiosity and awe, because anyone who can survive a holocaust and reinvent holo-science is going to be a legend and right up C.J.'s alley. Another Solid Story from Amy...
Amy Lane continues to be at the top of her game. The trials of Anderson and the dedication of CJ are just the topping to this great story. Family, survival, love, pain, joy, sadness...it's all here. Highly recommend...
    Excellent!!
One of the best books I've listened to in quite a while. Lots of great story and fantastic ideas. I found it so good that I listened to the whole 11 hour story with only a short break. Kept me interested right to the end, and was able to evoke a very emotional reaction...both by story and the way it was narrated...unusual in today's writings. The narrator, Paul Morey, was superb! I will look for other books with this narrator!
More layers Than you Think at first
I listen to this story the first time as just a good story - which it really is. But when i listened to it the second time i put On a different set of glasses so to speak and listened while thinking of the splitning of ones personallity the Way Anderson did to create the friends he needed in the ten years he was all alone. The story became something Else and even better - Amy Lane did an amazing job with this story and it has become one of my top ten. Narrator is - as he allways is - very good. Absolutely worth your time if you like m/m romance and especially if you like your stories a little more Than meets the eye. Allthough is is kind of sad too because your heart will break repeatedly for the little lonely and very smart boy Who breaks into pieces.
    God I love Amy Lane!
I was skeptical about this book and didn't buy it for a long time - the description and genre did not appeal to me even though Amy Lane is one of my favorite MM authors. I am glad I finally got around to this one though. It has become one of my favorites.
Paul Morey is a kind of hit-or-miss narrator for me. For some books I really love him, and in others I struggle with his pronunciation and inflections. He was a really good fit for this book though and I enjoyed the life he breathed into this cast of characters.
I really just don't have the words - the blurb didn't do it for me, but I honestly couldn't write anything that would do the book any more justice.

    Publisher's Summary:
Two years after the Civil War, Pinkerton agent Ed Morrow has gone undercover with one of the weird West's most dangerous outlaw gangs - the troop led by "Reverend" Asher Rook, ex-Confederate chaplain turned "hexslinger," and his notorious lieutenant (and lover) Chess Pargeter. Morrow's task: get close enough to map the extent of Rook's power, then bring that knowledge back to help Professor Joachim Asbury unlock the secrets of magic itself.
Magicians, cursed by their gift to a solitary and painful existence, have never been more than a footnote in history. But Rook, driven by desperation, has a plan to shatter the natural law that prevents hexes from cooperation, and change the face of the world - a plan sealed by an unholy marriage-oath with the goddess Ixchel, mother of all hanged men. To accomplish this, he must raise her bloodthirsty pantheon from its collective grave through sacrifice, destruction, and apotheosis.
Caught between a passel of dead gods and monsters, hexes galore, Rook's witchery, and the ruthless calculations of his own masters, Morrow's only real hope of survival lies with the man without whom Rook cannot succeed: Chess Pargeter himself. But Morrow and Chess will have to literally ride through Hell before the truth of Chess's fate comes clear - the doom written for him, and the entire world.
    Critic Reviews:
"(A) boundary-busting horror-fantasy debut.... fully delivers both sizzling passions and dark chills." (Publishers Weekly)
"Files' poetic prose is pitch-perfect: languid, precise and full of dark imagery..." (Justine Warwick, Rue Morgue #102)
"Gangs of New York rubs against the cross-genre cheek of True Blood, mashed with a healthy dollop pf J.R.R. Tolkien by way of a dusty, mud- and semen-caked Deadwood... truly one-of-a-kind, violent, carnal and creepy." (Fangoria)
    Members Reviews:
Good book but way too explicit.
Would you consider the audio edition of A Book of Tongues to be better than the print version?
Yes. The authors work is often over flowery and ponderous but the narraotr is excellent and makes it work.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I liked the reverend. It was interesting to witness his fall from grace.
What about Gordon Mackenzies performance did you like?
He has great range and adds emotional quality to the book.
Who was the most memorable character of A Book of Tongues and why?
All the characters are distinct and memorable. No one in the series is nothing less than well developed.
    Any additional comments?
The big problem with the series is the sexual content. This has some of the most graphic male homosexual scenes you could find in a non-porn book. I am not talking about one scene, it is throughout this book and all the rest. The story and setting was good enough I slogged through it, but it is very likely to disturb a lot of readers. DO NOT LET ANYONE UNDER 18 LISTEN TO THIS BOOK! You have been warned. the author has a good story. Why she feels the need to devlove into porn at regular intervals makes no sense. Still it is worth a read if you can get past that.
worst book I have read in a looking time
horrible book with base and shallow characters. If you like open or erotic readings with no story line or at least a bad story line you might like this book.

    So dang good!
Man, I have not read/listen to a really good m/m romance in like forever. This was awesome with a capital A! I so did not expect this... but I love how Ricky was really and truly an Alien. I love the moving penis and inner balls in the butt! So great... OMG...I laughed soooo hard... I almost cried. It wasn't sick either... just so funny. And the noises that Ricky make when he is angry or horny is just hilarious. So good. A straight through listen too... Totally unexpected.
Buy or Credit.. well worth it.
    Narration was good.
The ONLY audiobook I'll listen to more than once
What did you like best about this story?
The alien's balls. Seriously, I was like wtf at first but it got funnier...
Have you listened to any of Chad Maxwells other performances before? How does this one compare?
Never heard him before. He did pretty well.
    Any additional comments?
To be fair, the reviewer before mine is not lying, there are some corny parts in the beginning of this book, but I implore you to push through them, it's well worth it. This isn't a book that will one day become a movie but that doesn't mean it's not a good book. The writing is well done, the narration is well done, and the story is cute. There's just enough fluff, just enough action, just enough sex, and just enough heart. By the middle of the book and the end, the fluff fades and it takes on a more serious tone. I won't lie, I read romance for romance, and I am well aware that romance sometimes comes with cheese but this one was lightly dashed with it, and not covered in it Velveeta style like others I've heard or read. I am VERY pleased with this purchase and this story. It was worth way more than I paid. The characters were sweet and well put together. Thumbs up to the author and narrator. I shall look out for more by them in the future. Bravo!
    A nice sci-fi romp
Would you listen to Alien 'n' Outlaw again? Why?
I think I would prefer to read the book over listening to the audiobook. The narrator seemed to me to be an amateur.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Alien 'n' Outlaw?
When R'kos was injured and Darien realized he loved him.
What does Chad Maxwell bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
Over all he is a mediocre narrator and I would not look forward to another story performed by him.

    Glad I kept listening
Would you listen to Taste again? Why?
I probably will in a few months when the next story in the series is released.
    Any additional comments?
The first few minutes of this story made me stop and download another. Unfortunately, that one was even worse. I went back to this story and once I gave it a change (after about 10-30 minutes) I was completely enthralled. A surprisingly wonderful story that kept me engaged until the end. Uncharacteristically, I kept listening to the story even after leaving work and finished it in one day. I even looked for the next book in the series. Can't wait until the next book "DADDIO" is available!
    Leather and Lace
Let me start out by saying the only reason I got this book was b/c Paul Morey was the narrator. However, I didn't realize this was Book 2 in the 3 book series. Especially since Book 1 is not on Audible. I love Paul's narration, so that was 5 stars. However, the story was a little weak and not as engaging as I like; I didn't really feel a connection to the couple. It also didn't help that I'm not into Leather and Lace, which is a big part of the relationship btwn the MCs. I didn't really get that from the description. There is no BDSM, but big men in lace underwear and cross dressing is really not my thing. There were also small unrealistic things like a MC who lives in San Francisco but is scared to death of earthquakes. And b/c I live in Chicago, I was sensitive to some inaccuracies in the story about Chicago. I didn't read the 1st book, which I would like to have read before this one b/c that couple (Clark & Jody) have a large influence on this story. There is a 3rd book that looks like it is a continuation of this story; and probably Clark and Jody's. Overall, it was OK if you can get past the lace panties.
    Really liked It
I was not so into it at first but as the book progressed and the characters and storyline blossomed I really started to enjoy the book. I felt so bad for Grier with the situation he found himself in and was rooting for him throughout the book.
The narrator was good as always, Paul Morey is one of my favorite narrators.
    Great story, even better narrator
I love to hear Paul Morey narrate. This is a well-crafted story brought alive by the reader.

    Members Reviews:
    Beautiful Music
Arie is dealing with the loss of his sister and he's found a good spot to relax. But even Arie is surprised by how well he fits. Duane finally has a chance but he understands time is limited. I appreciate that they have to work to find a solution that will work for each of them individually and as a couple.
I loved the sound of the violin music between each chapter.
Simple and linear plot. Bad narration. Bad writing style.
Writing style: 1) It is like listening to an audio-described soap. Every action is described. He did this, he did that. It's frustratingly lacking any proper description. For example, there's a scene where they are having dinner. What did they eat? "Food" apparently but not one piece of information is given about the cuisine, the restaurant the mood of the restaurant. And it's like this all the way through. It's more like a story a 2 year old will write. "I went to the shop. I bought some crisps. I went home."
    2) there is so much name dropping in this, that it's quite possible that around 10% of the book is people's names.
The narration is bad: it's quite fast (which in hindsight is a blessing to end it quicker). The accents were pretty basic but nothing to be intrigued about.
The plot: I suppose this might be considered pulp fiction but the plot is so simple. The part of the attempted murder could easily be stripped out without any affect on the story. I was unimpressed.

    short cute little angsty story
    Any additional comments?
A bit short for my liking, but otherwise a cute little story mostly focused on sex and insecurities about growing older.
    First time...
This book was cute. It had a good story line, kept you wanting to know/hear the rest. And The narrator did a good job. Glad I took the time to listen to this one.
    Short and Sweet
I love how this story is short and romantic. Even though it's less than three hours long, nothing is lost in the plot. Charlie Belmont did a great job narrating this book. I would highly recommend it.
    Delightful Short Story
This is a great little short story about the fears and insecurity of an established couple when they become "empty nesters." It is really sweet and I enjoyed listening to it. The narrator did a excellent job, but Charlie Belmont always does; he is one of my favorites. I wouldn't use a credit for it, but if it is on sale, worth it.
    Thank you Charlie Belmont
I LOOOOOOVED this book. Truly. I did. Enter Trevor and Derrick. They've been married for several years and Trevor is hitting the big 4-0 and he suddenly starts to feel old. Derrick is 6 years younger and completely unaware of Trevor's fears. So, the story goes back and forth with Derrick and Trevor giving their perspective of different issues, fears, wants, desires. I cannot say enough about this wonderfully written story. I was entranced. K.C. Burn enveloped me into this world where I felt like I was experiencing EVERYTHING with both of them. The love and intense feeling that each had for each other was so beautiful. It made me love how people who've been married for a while could still feel that intense love for one another. And isn't it important to retain the passion and lust in a relationship when you've been together for a few years?
I do have to say that the video scene. *sigh* had me perspiring, but also feeling a bit sheepish. Perhaps I'm just not ready for sex tapes. LOL But, the sentiment was appreciated. HA.
I laughed whole heartily at so many scenes and as I was listening to it on audio, I know people couldn't help looking at me as I laughed out loud like a crazy person. OH WELL. They didn't know what they were missing!!! Charlie Belmont is a fantastic reader!!! He can come whisper in my ear anytime!
I for one will be reading more from K. C. Burn.
    Thankyoumuch.
    Wonderful. Invigorating read.

Might have been a good story
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
Another narrator certainly, and perhaps better production?? Granted this is a short story, but the same care should be taken as in a longer story.
Would you be willing to try another book from Mary Calmes? Why or why not?
I have all of Mary Calmes books and really enjoy the stories and like her writing. However as you might know, the narrator makes it or breaks it....in this case....oh dear. Not only broke it but all the wheels fell off.
I will not be buying any more books with this narrator. Very disappointing.
What didnt you like about Andrew Schwartzs performance?
Sorry, he needs WAYYYYYYY more practice. Reading (way) too fast, mumbling, slurring, mispronunciation, and very poor enunciation. Also maybe be some editing production problems, because it would fade out so low you couldn't hear what was said, then come back on (after you turned it up) and blast it out, making ears practically bleed, and then you have to turn it back down.
    Any additional comments?
This one and His Hearth both read in the above manner.
    Action Packed
This addition to the Warder series is intense. It delves the characters into a demon dimension....
I really enjoyed this story and the performance....I was hooked from the start.
    Love concurs all!
Actually book 3 in the series
Leith & Simon's story. They will suffer thru hell for each other. A great series
Story great and better narration than I expected.
Simon and Leith are a Harth and Warder. They knew from the start that they were meant to be, but neither has really trusted the relationship. Leith resents the time away from him when Simon has to work and Simon has a hard time leaning on Leith like hed want.
Simon goes on another work trip, but this time things go horribly wrong. Hes sucked into a demons dimension and forced to help his co-workers try to survive while being attacked by one of the demons solidiers.
Fortunately, at their core, his friends and lover are good people and Simon is able to use that to save the day.
    **
This was a really interesting story. In addition to being hot and sexy at times, it also had a bit of a psychological/ thriller component. This is a bit scary at times!
Simon is snarky and sweet at the same time. His friends and lover are willing to follow him (literally) through hell, but he doesnt see his own value.
Warders are super heroes but they have flaws and Leiths is insecurity despite everything to the contrary. Having Simon literally see him and love him at his worst was the perfect way to cement in his mind that Simon really and truly loved him.
I love this series and have read it over and over.

    Another happy ending
Thank you Andrew Grey you NEVER disappoint! Loved the entire story from beginning to end.
Felt the hurt when he was not believed by the priest, lost his best friend, found the love he always wanted, then the closure desperately needed.
    Great ending!
Thank you for using Sean Crisden he's amazing!
    A Sweet Boy's School Romance
This book made me smile. The reader is wonderful and the story had real depth to it. It wasn't just about sex.
I've noticed that a lot of the gay/lesbian genre available on audible presents stories more focused on sex or scandal. I was thrilled because this is a sweet story about the characters and about love.
Grey presents wholesome relatable characters that you will grow to love.
The story isn't perfect, but it's fun to listen to and closer to what I'd imagine a male/male relationship is really like. It feels real to me. I suggested the book to a dear friend of mine who is a gay male and he enjoyed the story as well and agreed it felt real unlike most in the genre.
Grey writes some of the best gay romance on audible. I highly recommend him.
OK story. Narrator needs to execute punctuation.
Is there anything you would change about this book?
I would have read it instead of listening to it.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
Kind of jumps over time but that could have been the way it was narrated. See next item.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
He ran on without regard to commas, periods, exclamation points, or obvious changes in time. From one scene to another there is a ten year jump but because the narrator ran it like a stop sign, it was not evident at first. Sometimes, it was difficult to tell which character was
What would have made this romance irresistible?
I'm not sure. I like other Andrew Grey novels and they all seem to have similar themes but this one just didn't grab me.
    Great Story below average narration
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, I would recommend this book but probable not the audio book version.
What didnt you like about Brian Millss performance?
Brian Mill's voice was very mellow-tone and did not get into the story as other narrators have done. This made it challenging to get in to the story. Brian's Accent made this story hard to place as a British man read a story that was to take place in and around Milwaukee.
    i really enjoyed this book
loved it, it gives me hope for the future very close to home for me

    Love Means....A Great Listen
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I recommend all of the Love Means.....books by Andrew Gray
Have you listened to any of Sean Crisdens other performances before? How does this one compare?
Sean Crisden narrates with great feeling in his voice.
    Any additional comments?
I have all of the Love Means...books. Both in print and in audio format.
Perhaps the Laughton Farms scenarios are a bit too idealistic, but they
are so uplifting and entertaining that the reader/listener is transported
to this wonderful place, if only for a few hours.
    Sweet
I was cheering for Jonah's and Raine's relationship.
They come from completely different worlds and a happy ending seemed remote.... the development of their relationship and personal battles is engaging.
Another great instalment to the series.
    Andrew Grey
If you could sum up Love Means No Fear in three words, what would they be?
    Good love story
What did you like best about this story?
Jonah and Randy's interaction and banter
What does Sean Crisden bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
I have many books that Sean Crisden has narrated and will sometimes base my decision on whether to buy the book or not because of the narrator.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
    Not a clue
    Standing Up For Yourself
It is time for Geoff's friend Raine to get his story. And it is involves Eli's brother Jonah. I loved much of this story. The fact that Jonah is working at figuring out for himself what he wants. Raine having to re-evaluate his own life for different reasons. I really love how much Jonah grew in this story from being shocked about his brother's life to being a strong man who knows his own mind. Raine I felt didn't really grow as much because in the end his life remained large unchanged. I get the feeling that as time goes on we will hear more from these two or at least I hope so because I think there is more in their life that needs to be settled.
    Another Andrew Grey/Sean Crisden Great
What made the experience of listening to Love Means No Fear the most enjoyable?
As usual, listening to Sean Crisden. He doesn't make the story, just makes it better!
Who was your favorite character and why?
I have no favorite. All the characters are so interesting I wished I knew "real" people like them.
Which character as performed by Sean Crisden was your favorite?
    Geoff
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
No, the whole book was very moving. Whenever I read something (or listen to) a book by Andrew Grey I feel the whole spectrum of the emotions.
