A biographical exposé of the dark side of modern corporate religion, as told by a former Evangelical fundamentalist Christian minister turned gay activist.
Says Tom, "How did I ever fall for it? When I accepted Jesus Christ into my heart as my personal Lord and savior, I went all in. Years later I had to struggle to find a way to get out of both the ministry and the closet as well. I was a gay man trapped in the ranks of the Fightin' Fundies - constantly mentally recording their every word. But Evangelical Fundamentalism is like flypaper - try to get it off. Well, I finally did just that. Talk about fallout! And here's the whole story."

My hat is off to Tom Muzzio. All I ...
My hat is off to Tom Muzzio. All I can say is read this book. That is if you can handle the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.
Interesting subject, sloppy writing
This book is interesting, fascinating even, as an exploration of the mind of a committed, active evangelical Christian whose faith in religion comes crashing down. It is, however, poorly written, getting worse as it goes along. The second half of the book uses surprisingly crude language and a sledgehammer approach that makes even this harsh critic of religion flinch. The author also makes frequent use of "LOL" and emoticons, as if the book were a Facebook post. The subject matter is worthwhile reading, its expression is sloppy and off-putting.
Not worth the time
Did not clearly show how he came to his accepting his atheism other than discovering that he was gay and that church members could not accept that, Descended into name calling such as he accused the church members of.
Probably not worth the money
Kind of a haphazard read... Told very colloquially, with a lot of "text/tweet" language (LOLs, etc). Less informative than I was hoping for.
I strongly recommend this to friends who want to think of themselves ...
This deeply personal account resonates more than I imagined it would. The author bravely shares his pain and doubt, loss but also victories. I strongly recommend this to friends who want to think of themselves as compassionate.
