No end of days
I enjoyed this book immensely but was very disappointed when the book ended prior to Jasper's death I would have liked to have heard what happened to Jasper after king Henry took the throne
Great story-narration fell short
I really do enjoy Tony Riches' writing. There's just not much out there that focuses on the Tudors before Henry VIII, and it's quite an adventure to be told. The narrator is not the same man who narrates the first book in the series, "Owen". I found this narration to be lacking. It's a bit too genteel and restrained to tell the stories of battles and close calls and escapes from certain death. Just my humble opinion.
A moderately enjoyable book
I really wanted to like this book more, but unfortunately, I didn't enjoy it as much as book 1 of the trilogy (Owen.) I did enjoy it enough however, to purchase the 3rd book, which I will begin shortly. Evidently, the author did some extensive research in Wales for this book, so I am impressed with that. But the story just seemed to move slowly. It was decent, but not thrilling.
A lot better then book one
After reading book one of the Tudor trilogy I was really hoping this narrator was a lot better than the last one. With relief he was a lot better, but he still wasn't as good as other narrators I've listened to. I love the storyline, and the story kept me interested from start to finish. I disliked the way the narrator sometimes made Jasper sound quite feminine and weak where in reality he must have been a true warrior. Maybe this is just the way the narrator speaks. This is why I gave the performance a 3/5. I would definitely recommend both books of this trilogy if you are interested in this period drama. Overall I enjoyed reading the two books so I give this a 4/5 x
