    Publisher's Summary:
What happens when temptation, deception, envy, doubt, loss, and destruction enter the picture? THE PROMISE OF LOVE AND HOPE
THE PROMISE extends the storyline developed in THE BRACELET and THE TOUCHSTONE with the same characters, relationships and Chance's and Lauren's spectrum of humanitarian support for the African Darfur oppressed by offering a view of a high end glittering benefit party at John's mansion in Denver to the sweaty 'Hands On' care of the suffering actually on site in Darfur.
Several new characters are introduced including the repulsive obsessive Mekia, the Las Vegas showgirl, who personifies and proves that she is all that is evil, and stops at nothing to win Chance. Along the way, the author skillfully develops the concept of 'When is it appropriate to keep a little secret that supposedly won't hurt anybody?" or "When is it not??" No easy answers and artfully handled by the author.
A surprise romance develops between Hope and John, another romance with Hope, a female, being the older of the two. Anne, Lauren's New York friend falls into a bad situation and is guided through her troubled waters by her association with good people and God given hope. A wonderful new character is introduced by the name of Terra, who works at the Foundation. The goodness of Terra is beyond belief as the book unfolds.
Chance and Lauren did return to Darfur to see what aid they could provide, but, as vividly pointed out in the narrative, awful things can happen in the Darfur environment whether you're a 'Star' or not. In Darfur evil has no boundaries.
Again, the author has skillfully woven true love and romance with the unfortunate situations that crop up in everyone's life. The link or touchstone to God gives Chance and Lauren the strength and stamina to continue and is ever apparent in this outstandingly written novel. Once again Ms. Kahl reveals a remarkable insight into life and is able to weave her story line punctuated with real life scenarios into a contemporary setting. Everything seems so real because most of it is. Compliments to Ms. Kahl for another fine novel!!!
    Another Book Worth Reading
If you read the 1st two books and liked them you will absolutely love this one. Maureen is a very gifted writer. If you havent read the books I suggest you start with the Bracelet and read them all. This book brings out all sorts of emotions. I anxiously wait for another book written by Maureen Kahl.

Poor read, inaccurately billed as Christian
What was most disappointing about Tim Callahan???s story?
The story was very dry and not very compelling. It just didn't grab me and interest me. I kept going for awhile but finally had to call it quits. Other than overall quality, one thing that really bothered me was the amount of time spent discussing the female lead's chest. It was given just as much "air time" as some of the characters. It just didn't sit well with me or seem to fit in with a story being billed as Christian. It cheapened the male characters' appeal. It might be better to re-categorize as more mainstream fiction.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
I felt this narrator didn't add anything to the story at all. It certainly didn't redeem the content and definately detracted further.

    A unexpected story!
What does Joe Smith bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
I particularly liked the way Mr. Smith read the part of Ruth upon her awakening in Blair's cabin. I found myself cringing and ducking along with Blair!
    Any additional comments?
All throughout this story, I just couldn't see how 2 stubborn people could ever see eye to eye in marriage. But our country should be thankful for bold, headstrong pioneers such as these, for without them our country may never have been founded.

    Addictive Series!
This series is so good its addictive, I don't want them to stop. They pull you in and keep you glued to the book until its done. So exciting, suspenseful, and just a darn good read. I don't like books that drag along with boring details that don't matter. Kallie stays on point and doesn't drag anything out, any detail is important to the story and she keeps the action and suspense going throughout the book. I love that! And us usual you cant help but to fall in love with the female lead Billie. Smart and strong willed, and Reece is her perfect match. If you are a Romantic Suspense fan, trust me, you will LOVE this series. I bought one and was hooked, have read everything Kallie has written and wont even read the description on her next book before buying it.
Great cast of characters with a good mystery and suspense.
After his daughter his shot in the head he decides the best person to protect her is her man from her past even though he ran that man off years ago to keep them apart. Billie Bradshaw and Reece Morgan grew up together and were in love but she was just 16 and he 18 so her father ran him off without her knowing why he left. Now years later Reece doesnât hesitate to rush back to protect the one woman heâs never forgotten about.
In reading this series I can tell you its not safe for a woman to be the heroine. Each book the author comes up with the most creative ways for their lives to be put in danger. The whole team is back in this one on a ranch trying to figure out who wants Billie dead but what they figure out is Billie really isnât the target â Reece is. Now itâs a race to figure out who in the long list of people who would want Reece dead it could be.
Best Summer Read for Romantic Suspense
This book is a combination of Cindy Gerard, Suzanne Brockman, and, yes, even Nora Roberts. Yet, it is told in a refreshingly new author's voice br Kallie Lane. I stumbled upon Ms. Lane's first book 'Deadly Abandon' and was captivated by her page turning storytelling. So, I was thrilled to see this latest offering 'Reckless Abandon' which I read in two sessions. If you have a soft spot in your heart for military men and gutsy savvy women, this book will deliver both fabulous suspense and hot romance. Ms. Lane throws in a touch of humor in a Janet Evanovitch kind of style and she does some of the best kind of villains since Hannibal Lector. All in all, you are guaranteed a really good read as you follow Reece and Billie in their adventure.

Tired of books that end to abruptly!
The story was good. I was really enjoying it. And then it was over! There was so much that could have been written to delve deeper into the stoyline. This is the fifth or sixth book I've read in a week or two that just stops. It's very disappointing.
    A good read
I enjoyed the story. I'm not sure how I liked the end. It was really different. It is well written. I'm sure you will like it too.
    Good book...poor editing
Good book, but too short. It's like you just start to get into it, then the end just gets slammed at you within thirty seconds.
Also, it was a challenging read due to poor editing.
    Good facts of Amish
Quick read. Good facts of Amish Community

The book was stiff and unnatural to me. I was amazed at all the grammar errors. I was very disappointed.

A lesson in judgment and forgiveness :-)
What did you love best about The Western Mail Order Bride: Garret and Meredith in Montana's Bitterroot Foothills?
Even though the Scripture wasn't quoted in this story, the reaction of Garrett to Meredith's revelation reminded me so much of Romans 7:15-25.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Western Mail Order Bride: Garret and Meredith in Montana's Bitterroot Foothills?
I especially liked Meredith's first reaction when she saw the Montana vistas - spectacular!
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
As noted above during Meredith's telling her 'secret' to Garrett, I found myself speaking aloud during the story, "No! Don't do that!" But alas, he reacted in his humanness.
    Any additional comments?
This story is such a wonderful example of our human failings and God's mercy and grace to us, of which we are so undeserving. Glory to God for his wondrous love!

Knowing he's leaving Aegis and returning to the DIA soon, Landon decides it's time for their flirty online relationship to end. But Olivia can't stop thinking about Landon, either. On a whim, she takes a leave of absence from her teaching job to surprise him in Barcelona--and arrives to find a sexy redhead in his hotel room.
Things aren't always what they seem, though. Landon's would-be one-night stand is really a member of the Red Brotherhood, a terrorist group targeting Landon for information on a lethal bioweapon. And now Olivia is unwittingly ensnared in their deadly plot, too. Forget escaping emotionally unscathed; Olivia just wants to make it home alive. Yet to survive, she'll have to put her trust in the very man who not only broke her heart, but whose lies now threaten both their lives.
In the second book in best-selling author Elisabeth Naughton's popular Aegis series, heart-pounding suspense stirs up deliciously sizzling romance.
    Members Reviews:
Not what I have come to expect from Elisabeth
I am a huge fan of Elisabeth's Eternal Guardians, and enjoyed Book 1 in the Aegis Security. This one, not so much. Olivia might quite possibly be the dumbest heroine ever. I wanted to tear my hair out at her silly, silly escapades, even though the author, for the most part, had those episodes turning out well.
    Fantastic Romantic Suspense @$7.34 Bargain
I love romantic suspense and enjoy a story with a little something going for it besides the tried and true themes that have been done countless times before. This story is action packed with a twist you won't see coming, one that changes the entire scope of of the story into one whale of a white knuckled race against time.
Landon and Olivia won't have time to dwell on an awkward situation for long because the woman Landon picked up at the bar just happens to be a member of the Red Brotherhood. Unbelievably, Olivia once more becomes a kidnap victim. While being held hostage she learns the terrible truth about Landon Miller. He is not the hero she believed him to be, in fact he's a cold stone killer.
    The Romance:
Landon is that type of hero- the dark, brooding, damaged, flawed and broken man that women feel like holding and and nurturing. But, in this case, Landon was not at all a man I felt I could trust. I never feared for Olivia, but I wondered if he had lost his ability to value human life after performing his unorthodox duties. I could understand Eve's concern for her sister even if she was way to overprotective of Olivia. As a result I had a little trouble with the romance part of the story for long time. The chemistry was definitely in place, but it was the evidence of real and true love that develops over time that made me a true believer.
    The Drama:
I understood that Olivia had survived a harrowing ordeal once before and was having a hard time going back to her normal routine, working at a job her heart wasn't really into, and feeling like she needed to take charge of her life and make her own choices and decisions even if it meant she made mistakes or got hurt.

    Publisher's Summary:
    Audie Award Finalist, Non-Fiction, 2014
In the picturesque village of Guzmán, Spain, in a cave dug into a hillside on the edge of town, an ancient door leads to a cramped limestone chamber known as "the telling room". Containing nothing but a wooden table and two benches, this is where villagers have gathered for centuries to share their stories and secrets - usually accompanied by copious amounts of wine.
It was here, in the summer of 2000, that Michael Paterniti found himself listening to a larger-than-life Spanish cheesemaker named Ambrosio Molinos de las Heras as he spun an odd and compelling tale about a piece of cheese. An unusual piece of cheese. Made from an old family recipe, Ambrosios cheese was reputed to be among the finest in the world, and was said to hold mystical qualities. Eating it, some claimed, conjured long-lost memories. But then, Ambrosio said, things had gone horribly wrong.... By the time the two men exited the telling room that evening, Paterniti was hooked. Soon he was fully embroiled in village life, relocating his young family to Guzmán in order to chase the truth about this cheese and explore the fairy tale-like place where the villagers conversed with farm animals, lived by an ancient Castilian code of honor, and made their wine and food by hand, from the grapes growing on a nearby hill and the flocks of sheep floating over the Meseta.
What Paterniti ultimately discovers there in the highlands of Castile is nothing like the idyllic slow-food fable he first imagined. Instead, hes sucked into the heart of an unfolding mystery, a blood feud that includes accusations of betrayal and theft, death threats, and a murder plot. As the village begins to spill its long-held secrets, Paterniti finds himself implicated in the very story he is writing.
Equal parts mystery and memoir, travelogue and history, The Telling Room is an astonishing work of literary nonfiction by one of our most accomplished storytellers.
A moving exploration of happiness, friendship, and betrayal, The Telling Room introduces us to Ambrosio Molinos de las Heras, an unforgettable real-life literary hero, while also holding a mirror up to the world, fully alive to the power of stories that define and sustain us.
    Editorial Reviews:
Editors Select, July 2013 - I consider myself a foodie, but never have I found myself so emotionally invested in any food, let alone a piece of cheese. Michael Paternitis sophisticated prose awakened my taste buds and transported me to a remote, other-worldly village in Spain where I came to crave Páramo de Guzmán, arguably the worlds greatest (and most expensive) piece of cheese. The Telling Room, however, ignited within me much more than a simple food craving. Paternitis expertly woven narrative, with detailed descriptions of both people and land, invoked within me nostalgia for a simpler time. At the center of Paternitis memoir is Ambrosio, the passionate Spanish cheesemaker, betrayed by his best friend, living with revenge in his heart in a land where grudges last a lifetime. As Paterniti gets implicated in Ambrosios tale, so does the listener, and the journey is every bit as satisfying as an excellent piece of cheese. I was fortunate enough to read an advanced copy of this book, and its such a delight to now listen to it in audio with L.J.
