incredible

i downloaded and listened while I was travelling in Cambodia. it was hard to listen to...so disturbing and then I sobbed so much listening to this. it helped me understand why i felt so sad and angry while in Cambodia. this book is so excellent and the story teller really captured the essence of the Arn and such a stark honesty. such simple truths.

Heartbreaking.

Yes, because it was so enlightening as to the plight of the Cambodians in the years right after the end of the Vietnam War.

When the main character had to decide whether to kill his younger sister or leave her to die.

Truly credible for all characters.

The entire book was so depressing but I think when the main character understood why he had lived when almost everyone around him died.

Yes this was a remarkable story told honestly about survival during the khmer rouge killing fields days of Cambodia's dark hour.

I liked this man (boy) Arn and his energy, intelligence and drive to survive. Also his humanity and generosity.

It felt like it was Arn himself speaking. very convincing performance. Heartfelt.

Good story, easy reading and fun!

This is the first highly readable German book I have come across. It is written for children, is actually engaging and uses an uncomplicated vocabulary that is perfect for learners of the German language. I have tried reading many different children's books as well as regular German books and this is the first book I have read where I used the dictionary less than once per page! I would recommend this book for any second or third year German student. The English version is probably also a good book for kids in elementary school.

Beware! this is only an abbreviated booklet of the original book.

I hate abbreviated versions. I have this book in 4 different printing, definitely was not interested in a booklet.

Fantastic, even in my age....

A classical and charming children book by Erich Kästner brought me back to my childhood. I first read it when I was ten - in Czech, of course. However, there is a story saying that even the English Queen Elisabeth the Second loved Kästner's booked that she read in original and which reportedly helped her master the German language. I think it is a kind of recommendation beyond any imagination.

Whets your appetite just enough....

I wasn't sure how the book was going to turn after the previous books parts. Some interesting elements were introduced in this books, a couple new characters as well and some surprising twists. The narration is what I have come to expect from The Secret Circle and delivers as I would expect it to with nothing extraordinary to speak of.

To be honest I thought the book series had ended after the third book. Everything appeared to be tied up to an extent and left me thinking there was nothing too major to be resolved. So I was quite surprised when I was browsing the site and found that there was another book out.

This fourth book to me reminds me of the first book where L.J Smith was putting the elements in place for the book to 'pick up' later on. It reminds also of one of the more annoying aspects of the books for me surrounding the teenage-fated-to-be-forever-love thing. That's not to say the book wasn't good and it did have a lot of exciting parts and twists about it, I actually enjoyed it and am also genuinely interested as to how it will proceed. I am a bit wanting as it regards to character development of anyone in the circle other than Cassie though... The circle is twelve witches and at most the only ones who had made any meaningful development/change to me are Cassie and Faye.

Overall to me a good starting point for what is to come.... Whatever it is....

Interesting book!

Interesting. Fascinating. Infuriating.

He brings a depth of emotion and feeling--you really feel for all the characters--he has a great way of bringing them all to life.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I really like the moments between Ethan and Gracie--very sweet moments.

It was a good book--very engaging and engrossing but the end just nearly killed me -- it definitely screams out for a sequel!

WOW!

Listening to this book I couldn't help feeling that I was reading a fictionalized account of Steven Stayner and it was fascinating. I wanted to listen to the book all in one sitting and yet I wanted it to last much longer than it did. The narration was spot on! Wish there could be a sequel-I would be in line to buy it!

Memorable characters that you actually care about the book left me feeling like I knew a whole new family.

Wonderful and heartbreaking

I am absolutely in shock at the beauty of this book. It is written so wonderfully, and McMann captures the thoughts of the abducted teenage boy perfectly. The story keeps you on your toes until the end, and even after. I am still reeling. Aaron Tveit delivers a superb performance of the novel, and the emotions that he shows are amazing. I have nothing but praise for McMann's story and the way it is read by Tveit.

Could be longer

It was an interesting story, but I would have liked it to be a little longer so that the characters could be further developed.

Good Story

The third book in the series didn't disappoint. I found that it wasn't as suspenseful as the first two in the series. At this point I just wish there was an ending in sight. I know the 5th book is due out later this year. I probably won't read anymore until I find out if this is the last one. I just want it to end, Unlike Pretty Little Liars, which I read the first eight excitedly, then she ended up coming out with a whole bunch more.

Still fun but predictable

Still enjoying the story as it unfolds but frustrated that it's predictable. Everything follows the same trend and the "surprises" are not surprising.

Descriptive

Beneath a Meth Moon is a story about youth, drugs, hardships, struggles, and losses. The story revolves around a girl names Laurel who always depended on her family. She mostly looked up to her grandmother. Her grandmother words were her inspiration. Laurel would take in everything she said and remember it. Her grandmother was the one to inspire her to write and write. But all of that changed after a massive hurricane hit her hometown in Mississippi. Unfortunately, her grandmother and mother did not survive the destruction of the town. This has torn the whole family, especially Laurel. After moving to another place, she meets new people that seem to be helping her, but they were really just bringing her down. After taking drugs and running away from home, Laurel's life seemed to be drifting away more and more each day. The story is good for those who want description and good narrative. I personally would not recommend this book if you are not into a slow pacing story but if you like that kind of story then this book is something you might enjoy.

Quick, Sweet, & Funny

Have you listened to any of Casey Holloways other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have not listened to any other performances by this narrator, but i think she fit Hadley's personality well and did a good job.

The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight was such a cute, heartwarming story! Hadley is headed to London for her father's wedding, and nothing goes the way she expects starting with missing her flight. Basically, the whole day ends up a series of lessons for Hadley that she really needed to learn. While the book was fairly predictable, it was alsoreally sweet and charming. Oliver had such a sweet personality and a great sense of humor. His and Hadley's chemistry was great.

Overall it was a really quick fun listen. I think the author captured a lot of the feelings a teenage girl facing her parent's divorce / new lives apart would be experiencing. It was perfect for a rainy day and well worth the credit.

A yummy snack

This novel is short and sweet. Its unabridged so you get the whole story but the perfect length for a short road trip or a day of spring cleaning. The title is what drew me in. Made me tilt my head and say "hmmm...interesting", and really it is.

The story is fun, funny, endearing, tugs at your heart strings just a little, and has you on the edge of your seat for a bit. It is surprisingly well rounded for less than 6 hours of listening and makes "love at first sight" seem like more of a possibility than a dream. This isn't a novel that will consume you but still good stuff, like eating a snack to hold you over until you're next fulfilling meal. Enjoy!

Was attracted to this book because of it's title. I was surprised how easy it was to listen to it for hours and not realize. I listened in one setting and didn't notice the time.l

For the Hopelessly Romantic

This is a sweet, light, romantic novel that will warm your heart. I had a close experience with missing a plane and falling in love in an airport, so this story felt a tad closer to home; but I still feel this story is the perfect mixture of romance, thrill and taking risks. It speaks of a real connection between two people; and although many may think this insta-love thing does not exist, I am a strong believer that once in a life it is possible to have a chance encounter with a person with whom youll have a powerful connection.

Loved it!

Great story about a girl who discovers that what she's hiding from the world, what she's most ashamed of, is in fact, the very thing that makes her special and important and unique.

I thought Ms. Eyre did a fantastic job at narrating this story, except that the quavery voice she used for the main character (I didn't hear it in other voices so I'm assuming the tremble was an intentional nuance - if not, forgive me) made the character sound old and frail, and took me a while to get used to. But once I did, I thoroughly enjoyed it! Her rhythm and timing and expression was wonderful, otherwise.

Thank you for a great audiobook experience!

A thoroughly original take on teen paranormals

A YA paranormal romance that mostly takes place in a mental hospital? Yes, this is definitely no Twilight wannabe (nor is it a violent dystopian fable, hurrah!) Ultraviolet is the story of a girl who may or may not be crazy, but definitely thinks in different ways than those around her. And she may or may not be a murderer, but even her own memories can't answer that question clearly.

I appreciated the freshness of the story, and the nuanced approach. This is not a book where people simply line up on sides of good vs. evil, or even sane vs. insane. The reader is very solid and lets you get swept up in the story.
