I dream of Dreamers

As with all of West's work the book features a mix of excellent characterization, vivid scenery, and elegant prose. Dreamers Often Lie is definitely one of her best works although her entire bibliography is astonishingly solid. The story itself beautifully whisks you away on a journey of the mind (and in the mind) through the eyes of Jaye Stewart, a "drama geek" recovering from of head injury which leaves her with occasional visions of William Shakespeare himself as well as some of his characters. As the story progresses you begin questioning what is real and what is not.

I don't often review books for one reason or another but I felt compelled to on this one. I am so rarely drawn into a story this deeply and the level of complexity of this story has led me to begin reading the book a second time already. If that isn't a seal of approval I don't know what is. This book is, in a word, awesome.

Loved it!

I loved this book! I was immediately drawn into the life of Jaye, the main character, who has suffered a brain injury and has started having visions of Shakespearean characters. Don't worry if you're not familiar with Shakespeare and/or his characters. You will still love this story. The author really only includes Shakespearean characters with whom most people are familiar. I have not been drawn into a book like I was with this one in a very long time. Give it a read. You will not be disappointed. West's lyrical writing is fantastic, as are the humor she inserts occasionally.

Save your money and pass on this one

This was one of those books that I have been looking forward to since I read the synopsis and saw the cover and just failed epically. Where should I begin? From the massive plot holes and the confusing mindset of Jen, the main character, I finished the book going "What just happened and what did I just read? I couldn't even write a review without massive spoilers that I'm posting on my blog page but I won't post here. There is no way for me to write this review without spoilers. I'm also going to apologize now and say I HATE writing one star reviews but because of how bad this is written, I need to warn people away from this book. This was a confusing jumble of questions with no answers and the lack of any real type of horror.

I wish I had been warned before picking up this book and saved my money. I feel sad because this sounded like it had huge potential but just failed so badly.

Harmony house.

It was a very good book!!! It kept you interested and was suspenseful!!!

Different than expected.

A page turner mixed with a little of The Shining and Firestarter. But ultimately felt like something was missing. Good concept and solid writing.

Fantastic

Loved his other work and this was of the same caliber. Great story with enough twists to keep you on the edge of your seat.

Captivating mystery

This is a captivating, well narrated story that kept me interested to the very end. Leocadia is a traumatized teenager who is trying to get her life back together after stumbling onto her mothers murder. Almost a year later she still has retrograde amnesia but her memory is coming back in bits and pieces and she is starting to win her battle to stay off the drugs she used to escape her nightmares. Leo's friend, Henry has his own demons, and when they are witness to two murders while parting in a graveyard, things start to heat up. Combine this with creepy and ghostly happenings in an abandoned mansion the teens explore, and Leo's world is once again shaken to its core. The characters in this book were complex, interesting and well portrayed by the narrator; Leo is a flawed but appealing character, you can not help but sympathize with and care about her. Her two love interests are totally contrasting characters, one a clean, caring hunk and the other a flawed, angry, loner. Although I am not keen on love triangles, this one works very well in this book, adding tension, intrigue and interest to the plot. This was a fast paced enjoyable mystery with suspense, romance and a hint of ghosts. I received this audiobook at no cost in exchange for an honest review.

Enthralling.

First off - Caitlin Kelly was absolutely fabulous! Top notch narrator - very professional.

The book itself was attention grabbing throughout. No zoning out on this one! I thought the portrayal of teen life was very realistic on a day to day basis. I was kept guessing and did not figure out the ending ahead of time. Love it when that happens. The ending was surprising and rather graphic.

Great title, too. I held my breath several times throughout this book. I'm guessing this is a young adult book and I think that age group would appreciate the bigger than life ending more than an older demographic. I liked it because I was not expecting it. Definitely worth a credit although I was very fortunate and was gifted this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

This is not my typical genre to read,but having enjoyed another book by this author I gave it a chance.I liked the book overall,yet I felt frustrated with Leo's inability to realize how dangerous another character was.The mystery surrounding her mothers death was interesting.The narrator did a good job and has a pleasant voice.I received an audiobook from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Reincarnated Reading Experience

Would you listen to Grasping at Eternity again? Why?

Absolutely. This is actually a re-read for me as I've read it in e-book form before, so I knew I'd love the story. It's the first time I've re-read a story as an audiobook, and it added a whole new dimension for me, like re-discovering an old friend. I'll definitely listen again.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Grasping at Eternity?

The big finale, really. But I can't tell you about that because spoilers!

Which character as performed by Noah Michael Levine and Erin deWard was your favorite?

Nathan, but then I've always had a bit of a crush on him! I loved the way Erin did all the female characters too, especially Sheila, for some reason! Must have been the Irish accent.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Er, that's a tricky question. Have you ever tried to write a good tag line before?

I'll just say it'd include the words: Love! Reincarnation! Magic! Stars!

An Amazing Experience!

I literally just finished listening to this audio book and I am amazed! I had already read this book a couple of years ago, but I feel like I was reading it again for the first time! The narrators enhanced the reading experience so much! The way they conveyed each emotion and portrayed each character was incredible.

I felt like I was seeing a movie with how vividly the narrators performed the story. I was laughing, crying, swooning, and smiling the whole time I was listening to this narration.

One small complaint is that Erin would sometimes whisper and I had to turn the volume up, but then Noah would have a loud voice, which meant I had to lower the volume. I was playing around with the volume controls for along time, but I didn't mind it once I got used to it.

As for the book itself, I was captivated by the very beginning by Maryah's story. The writing was lush and intrinsically, and I wouldn't help but keep listening.

If you're having any thoughts about this book, don't.

An intriguing page turner!

Such a good read that I couldn't put it down, and read it in one day! Very intriguing and the author seemed to know when and how much information to give you to keep you reading... And wondering what and where the story itself was going. Loved every bit of the story and can't wait to read more!

Lots of repetitive mundane and boring conversations, actions

I didn't even finish this book. I thought the plot was confusing, lots of unanswered questions, WITH NO ANSWERS! Lots of repetitive mundane and boring conversations, actions, it was pretty awful. I basically just started scanning the pages hoping that the book would pick up at some point and SOMETHING would happen, but nothing did.

ugh.

It just didn't do it for me. A lot of things were left unexplained. It was a little on the boring side. I always finish books even if I don't necessarily like them, I had force myself to finish this one.

Cool, Entertaining, Mysterious and Suspenseful

I took a chance on M.L. Newman's My Night Breeze and I'm glad I did. I don't normally read this type of book but something about it drew my attention... and then held it through the purchase of the book, the first chapters and ultimately to it's great conclusion. I won't ruin the story for you but suffice it to say I can't wait to read the next installment. Cool, entertaining, mysterious, suspenseful... yeah that pretty much describes My Night Breeze. Give it a look, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

My first thought post-listen was "Woah."

Cori will always be an outsider. She thinks and acts differently. She is not originally from Antius. Brought in after her father was killed by "savages" and raised by a benevolent leader. This leader suddenly passes and Cori's world is turned upside down. She is forced into the military a year before she was supposed to be and pushed almost beyond her limits. She has to escape, she must escape, she will escape. Follow Cori and her closest friends attempt to leave the only place they've ever known for the unknown outside.

Narration was done by the Corinne Bupp (which I thought was awesome because the main character and the narrator had the same first name). Cori (the narrator) absolutely kills it. She was able to use the perfect voice for Cori and gives a wonderful performance. She gives each new person we meet in the book a new voice so that the reader is not totally confused throughout. The production and voice quality were perfect. No issues at all.

My first thought post-listen was "Woah." Which was quickly followed by "Oh, please tell me the series is written and that there are more audiobooks on the way. Well Ms. Arroyo, if you are reading this, please know that I (and I'm sure others) would love to hear the second book in this series voiced by Corinne.

The story had the perfect arc. Sometimes with a series the author will leave a lot of things on the table, leaving the reader to feel gipped or like they didn't get the whole story. This is not one of those stories. Upon finishing this, I could theorhetically walk away and be okay. I know enough of what is going on that I am comfortable with where it was left off. With that being said, I do not want to walk way from this series. I found it absolutely fascinating and interesting.

I love a good dystopian. One of my favorite all-time books is 1984. Sovereign was written perfectly. I rarely say that about books. I can usually find one flaw, but with this, I really feel like I was given a wonderful story, told perfectly, by a character that I feel for.

Cori is strong, misunderstood, and severely damaged, but that just made me love her more. I reallyfeltfor Cori throughout this book. When she felt mad, I felt mad. When she was confused, I felt confused. Just a sign of an incredibly hashed out character and story.

If you like character-driven storylines, you will love this. If you were a fan of The Hunger Games and Divergent, I think you just found your next series. Take some time, read or listen to this story and fall for Cori like I did.

Geeky Christmas Magic!

This short, wonderfully written book is just as magical as the season itâs about. Maybe even more! All Wrapped Up is a cute and funny look into the life of Harriet Manners. Sheâs a quirky character, who doesnât know when to stop taking (which I love), and she just had her first kiss with a hunky male model, named Nick, only four days prior to their first date. The story Holly Smale paints is adorable and great for the holiday season that approaches. It is filled with cool little facts about Christmas as well as geekery extraâs.

This is the perfect book for all those who are geeky and nerdy! (Perfect gift too. *Wink* *Wink*)

So itâs 5 out 5 stars on top of the Christmas tree for this hilarious addition to the world of Harriet Manners in All Wrapped Up by Holly Smale.
