THE MYSTERY OF THE WALKING STATUE
Junior high school twins Rick and Jed just received a walking, talking robot from their uncle, and then their dad takes the family on a trip to South America, robot in tow! When their host's home is broken into, he tells them about his find: an ancient Egyptian statue found locally. He reported the find to the Egyptians, and they're coming to pick it up this week. Was that why his house was broken into? Nothing appears to have been taken, but when they hear of the Egyptian curse on the statue that threatens those who remove it from its resting place and strange men keept showing up, they all start to wonder what's really going on.
This one had a very Hardy Boys-type feel to it.
