Action packed & Emotional

the narrator was awesome. This is a great story. I loved it, and so will others that read it.

Liked it but not near enough

I liked this book but I didn't like it enough, if that makes sense? First of all, it was surprisingly gruesome. I usually don't mind that but even I was taken aback at times: it was depressingly gory, severed limbs, messed up insides and all that. Sarah Fine painted a very dark atmosphere of non-stop graft without hope for betterment. I swear, it was almost dystopian!

Secondly, I didn't realise this was a historical fantasy until half way into the book and kept trying to guess time periods and areas and getting confused. The racism and lechery was very, very rampant in a society of extremely hypocritical views on women's place in it. As a result there was a lot of slut-shaming. The heroine did it, her friends did ti, and everyone else was very happy to do it too. I was frustrated and tired f hearing it.

Third issue was the instalove between Wen and Melik. I found it really hard to digest. She starts comparing the Noor to animals and within couple of weeks it's all moony eyes and dramatic proclamations. *eye roll*

At last, the narrator herself did not suit the book in my opinion. Alexandra Bailey sounded distinctly Caucasian and I couldn't get over that as in my head the voice didn't match my image of Wen.

Saying all that, this was a very Gothic, strangely compelling tale, and I enjoyed Ghost's character the most. He had layers, he had development, and I only hope to read more about him in the next book. Also, the atmosphere of the gruesome factory was a fantastic background. I'll be listening to the next book, because Of Metal and Wishes left me curious, even if I wasn't sold on the love story.

A MUST READ

The thing I liked best about this book was the character development. I liked the way amidst the extreme difficulties the main characters were able to give up lifelong dreams to do the right thing in the world. It made me want to do anything I am called to do to help the human trafficking situation in our world today. Because of the prevalence of this issue in our world today, EVERYONE should read this book...young and old alike.

Highly recommended!

bad boys and probably everything that is related to these ...

One thing you should probably know about me, Iâm a huge sucker for books that involve gangs, the mafia, bad boys and probably everything that is related to these three. Honestly, lock me in a room full of books that fit into the categories above, I probably wouldnât object.

On The Edge didnât fail to amaze me. I had so many great expectations from this book, mainly because I decided to skip the reviews of this book on Goodreads (because no matter what the review said, itâd probably affect me) and also because hey, it has a gang and a mysterious gang leader and a passionate love story in it.

I want to talk about the writing before getting to the plot though. Iâm not going to write a super long paragraph, just talking about its writing, I only want to say that it was really easy to read the book. Maybe itâs kind of related to the plot, I donât know but you really are able to finish this book in one sitting. I was a bit worried that there were going to be too many names and details to remember and that they would become confusing and hard to remember at one point, but that wasnât the case at all. Like I said, Iâm pretty sure most people would be able to finish this in one sitting without having problems.

I liked how the author gave place to a guy who was being judged because of his tattoos and past in the story. Obviously, to be careful around the gangs and all they need to judge people and act upon that judgement (because you can never be too careful, even I do that) but it was still nice to read about that, it gave the story more perspective in a way.

Excluding the one about who Lobo was correctly, my guesses about many things were not correct and I like being surprised while reading so yes, I gave the book a plus for not being predictable.

He was arrrgghhhhhhhhhhh, so arghhhhh that I even lost the ability to form proper sentences. I donât even know what to say about him!

I also loved how the book talked about important issues like woman trafficking and drugs-mostly woman trafficking though. I liked how there was a group of people, solely trying to get rid of the people associated with this. Besides, people talked about woman trafficking, too and they were aware of this problem.

To conclude, I can say that On The Edge is a perfect book for the ones who like anything with gangs and bad boys, with just the perfect amount of action and romance.

For the first time ever, Iâm feeling the âIâm jealous of people who are reading my favorite book for the first time.

Charming and more

Lisbeth comes from a family where she doesn't really fit in. Her mother is an alcoholic, her sister is quickly following suit, and her younger brother is struggling with some clear behavior disorders. Lisbeth's mother has a future all planned out for her since she is the "good daughter" with potential. However, it is a future Lisbeth wants nothing to do with.

Lisbeth's main support system comes from her Nan, who shares and understands her obsession with Audrey Hepburn, and her best friend Jess, a brilliant fashion student currently working as a museum curator. One night Lisbeth meets Jess at the museum and finds herself trying on the famous Givenchy made for Audrey. A couple turns of event lead to a night that will change her whole life. Lisbeth finds herself in a world she has been desperate to experience, but knows that it can't last. Partially because she is pretending to be someone she isn't. Specifically Audrey Hepburn.

At first, I was afraid that this was just going to be a fluffy story with a few mishaps and a little charm. In the beginning there was an awful lot of the author making sure we understood just how much Lisbeth loved Audrey Hepburn, and at one point I had to plead with the author to move on and stop repeating the word "Givenchy". However, those feelings quickly faded away as I became more connected to Lisbeth and found that there was much more to her and the story.

What we get is a young girl finding herself and deciding who and what she wants to be. Even through the charade, it seems that Lisbeth is finding herself rather than losing herself in this world that is vastly different from her own. It was rewarding to see her discovering her talents, and finding the courage to go after the life she really wanted rather than the one that was being forced on her.

Finding Where Home is!

l have listened to every audio that Nancy Straight had available on Audible but I put this one off for some reason and now wish I hadn't. I have fallen in LOVE with this story, a brand new series, Brewer Brothers. Nancy, I'm one of your biggest fans but you know I only listen to stories, I don't have time to read and most narrators do an amazing job bringing life to a story. Please, please don't forget to add it to Audible. I can connect you to some amazing narrators that won't leave you penniless. I know if you read my reviews, you'll read that I don't like romance stories but I really enjoyed this contemporary romance. The story was perfect, it has a much needed meaning in this story I found, well for me, I found this story has a great meaning so see if you will find it. I especially found Candy and Dave loveable, sweet, and fun character's. Nancy, you won me over writing about the car model that Candy got when she was in high school. My heart ached as I learned about Dave and his brother Mark. I'm waiting patiently for Fractured Karma to come to Audible.

Narrator, Jill Maglione did a fantastic job as she gave us her take on His Frozen Heart. I think she did a darn good job with the male voices and I didn't have any problems with being able to identify the character's who spoke throughout this story. She gave this story life as she put her spin on it. Jill held my attention right from the start to the very end. Jill had me engrossed and I didn't stop until it was finished. Overall, this story gets a perfect 5. rating from me.

Loved it!

I absolutely loved this story! It had danger, romance, suspense, humor, and love in it. I found myself staying up very late listening to this book and read it in one sitting! For awhile, I was actually gripping the arms of my chair from the suspense. I wanted to yell R U N !!!

Candy Cane has been friends with Libby for most of her life. The girls did everything together and even Candy's parents called Libby their daughter too. After graduation, Candy's parents moved to New Mexico and the girls had to support themselves. One night in order to buy food, they played pool shark to the wrong guys. While they only won 400.00, one of the men was so mad, he put out a hit on them. From here, you will have to read the book to see what happens...

The author, Nancy Straight did a fantastic job writing this story! I was so involved the entire book as the plot was that good. The danger and suspense was awesome. I am still nervous for the girls as I write this. The narrator, Jill Maglione was great too! With all her voices and accents, she was very entertaining.

FANTASTIC

Great story I would have any of my kids read

I love it when a book doesn't need to have graphic details and foul language to tell a very sweet love story.

This is an fantastic book, I heard it in two days, because I couldn't let it go!

It is completely a must read if you love dramatic and romantic books! The characters are so well writing that you feel like you are in the book.

Anthem continues her journey

Nice to follow our character through her next adventure. Not as tight or feasible as the first novel. But still enjoyable.

Stunning imagery

Amelia Kahaney's THE INVISIBLE does what you hope all sequels will do: improve upon the predecessor. If THE BROKENHEARTED is the origin story, then THE INVISIBLE is where the series-proper starts. (Unfortunately, a third novel wasn't contracted.)

Anthem Fleet's chimerical heart and ballet skills are well needed to defeat The Invisible, a secret organisation kidnapping children from rich families in order to raise money for the poor part of Bedlam. The wealthy side of town was built to literally raise them above the damaged side, so that flooding wouldn't inconvenience the cashed-up.

THE INVISIBLE sees Anthem confronting her own economic privilege. The well-off have to actually lose something, such as a child, before they'll consider donating half their fortune to aid worthy causes low down.

Amelia Kahaney writes THE INVISIBLE with stunning imagery. The scene where Anthem watches skyscrapers collapse, not knowing if her Tower will fall next, is genuinely thrilling.

I was surprised to discover that I'd rated the first book in the series only two stars. THE INVISIBLE is worth double that.

Why you should read it: The premise behind this series is interesting, and I enjoyed reading The Brokenhearted and The Invisible. Granted, the heroine does really dumb things often (don't leave video evidence or a trail behind you!) and doesn't get a disguise (classic Superhero 101), but the story is fun. I like Anthem a lot better in this book than the first. She is a little more hesitant when it comes to Ford (thank you!) and a little bit smarter. You'll either love this book or not. If you suspend disbelief, you can have fun with Anthem.

Bailey is a pathetic and annoying character. I wanted to tell Jason to turn and run.

lucky this book was being read to me. I often gagged at her idiotic and immature decisions and would have now been able to continue.

A twist on a classic tale.

One of my favorite movies is Sleepy Hollow starring Johnny Depp. It is twisted and sick just the way I like things. This story is more of a romance with the headless horseman terrorizing the villagers. I enjoyed this story it was pretty good up until the ending, that part was a disappointment. The biggest draw of the story was who was controlling the headless horseman and while this story tells of how he came to be, the story had so much more potential that fell flat. Plus there were a lot of questions that were left unanswered. But for a book that was on sale it was worth the cost. Narrator was okay, she did fit the main character.

Great twist on the Sleepy Hollow Story!!!

I love all things Sleepy Hollow and this book was perfect! I found both Katrina and Ichabod characters to be my favorite yet of any version or story I've read. I felt the fear of the towns people and was sucked in to the book from the very beginning. This is my first book by Dax Varley but I love the style and character development so I'm an instant fan. Sofia did a great job narrating the book and I particularly liked her as Ichabod. I highly recommend this book. I did not see the ending credits coming! It's a great love story filled with paranormal romance, suspension and drama

What does Sofia Willingham bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?

I was a bit annoyed at her mispronunciation of a few words that were used regularly (ie scythe) but overall Sofia Willingham's performance was pretty good. Her portayals of the characters were very interesting and lent a depth of emotion I am sure I would have missed had I just read the book. The terror she conveyed was palpable as was the menace from certain characters.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No. I needed frequent breaks! The story was amazing but I can only take so much butchering of a frequently used word before I am yelling at an empty room. Too bad they can't go back and fix all instances of that one word... Then it would be amazing!

This series must be listened to (or read) in order. This is the first book. I can't wait to listen to the next one!

Sleepy Hollow is a town unlike any other. It is plagued with hauntings of all kinds. There is the legendary Headless Horseman as well as many other more mundane ones. The wailing woman in white they resolved but many others they have not.
