    Publisher's Summary:
When Cynthia Rothchild's best friend, Annie, falls head over heels for the new high-school librarian, Cyn can totally understand why - hes really young and seriously hot and apparently thinks Annie would make an excellent library monitor.
But almost immediately, Cyn starts to sense that something about Mr. Gabriel isnt quite right. Maybe its the creepy look in the librarians (literally) mesmerizing eyes, or the weird feeling Cyn gets whenever shes around him, or the blood and horns and giant bat-like wings that appear when he thinks no one is looking. Before long, Cyn realizes that Mr. Gabriel is, in facta demon.
Now, in addition to saving her beloved school musical (Sweeney Todd!) from technical disaster and avoiding making a complete fool of herself with her own hopeless crush (who happens to be the only other person who knows the truth about Mr. Gabriel), Cyn has to save her best friend from the attractive-yet-very-very-bad clutches of the evil librarian, who has not only bewitched Annie but also seems to be slowly sucking the life force out of the entire student body!

A fabulous, and funny YA paranormal
Would you listen to Evil Librarian again? Why?
Yes! It's a great story and the witty dialogue and overall humor make it such a fun book! It's definitely worth a repeat listen.
What other book might you compare Evil Librarian to and why?
While I can't think of a particular book right now, the paranormal storyline and snarky humor remind me of the early seasons of Buffy The Vampire Slayer (in style and overall feel, not that the characters or stories are similar.)
What about Emily Fosters performance did you like?
I'm new to audiobooks and have been disappointed with many samples I've tried, but she did a great job. I prefer dual narrators for male and female voices but she was able to do well with all of them and I found her very easy to listen to (and NOT annoying to me at all.;)
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I loved the dialogue which was very humorous and Cyn's inner dialogue had me laughing quite often.
    Any additional comments?
I highly recommend this book if you are looking for an overall fun and humorous book with a paranormal theme. (There are some curse words but they did not seem out of place being spoken by high school students. If a few here and there bother you, just be aware they are there.;) I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will definitely check out more titles from this author and narrator.
    Who knew?
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
At 3.0 speed listening it wasn't too bad.
What could Michelle Knudsen have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
I'd have wished for a little more reality; or maybe it is reality as some of us did not know. Some day I wish someone could write a American school story that has, um, education in it; maybe some interaction with real adults other than demons; maybe social interactions other than boy-stalking. Credit for at least having a school activity as part of the plot - being stage manager for a cannibalistic school play. How Cynthia could cram all the demon-fighting action into an otherwise hectic countdown to showtime is amazing.

Where does Two Thousand Miles rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
    The top of the list
What does Meghan Kelly bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
Absolutely she does! When I read, I often do not remember to keep accents going nor do I often know the right accent, so to have the narrator "give" me the accent and keep it going is a major plus.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I laughed throughout Kat's time in Louisiana and cried when her "secret" was revealed in the newscast.

Disclaimer: Though I had purchased this eBook over a year ago and it has been patiently waiting for my attention since, I volunteered to listen to the audio book version for review. What a happy win-win coincidence - a book off Mount TBR and an honest review freely given! As this is a review, not a summary of the story, please refer to the book blurb or look to other reviewers' summaries for a plot description -- this review will be kept spoiler free.
This is a 275 page, or just under a 6-hour, new adult romance with a bit of mystery & suspense and a few HEAs. This does not end with a cliffhanger, but can conceivably be turned into a series with additional books focused on other characters or couples. The audio book was narrated by Meghan Kelly and she is the reason this 3-star "good book" has been bumped up to a 4-star rating. Please do not interpret that negatively; a three-star rating is a good book.
While I cannot speak to the grammar/punctuation editing as I listened to the book and didn't read it, the characters were well drawn, full of life and believable. I felt for our Hero and our Heroine in their situations, in their connection and their separation and so on. The opening chapter successfully created my interest, the comradery among the characters held my interest and the "secret" kept my interest piqued. Ms Kelly added accent, tone and emotion to the black typeface. She performed well with the varied voices, male and female, younger and older. Thank goodness for her southern accents to help keep me grounded in Louisiana.
The 16- to 18-year old teenagers, making up the majority of the cast, behaved older than their years turning this possibly Young Adult story into a New Adult. The alcohol consumption, cussing and premarital sex definitely moves this story away from YA to NA categorization.
Personally, I want characters to have common sense, intelligence (for their age) and manners, who are wholesome, generally honest and vibrant. It is a turn-off for me to read stories cast with inconceivably naive (for their age), flippant, thoughtless, self-centered, and/or emotion-driven characters. To have a variety of characters is all well and good, but to have the hero and heroine so faulted makes the story unbelievable, unrealistic and illogical. Miss Davis has created a cast of believable characters.

    I loved this book!!
So scary, fun, romantic! I read watched too! I will definitely be reading created! Loved it
    Love the gripping storyline!
What made the experience of listening to Protected the most enjoyable?
I gave the performance a 3.5 because in the beginning I felt like the narrator was not doing a superb job of changing her voice for each of the characters, especially the male characters. I didn't want it to take away from the amazing story so I bought the book to follow along with the narrator. This helped immensely and she got better as the story progressed. In my opinion, narrator adds a higher level of intensity to the story, especially when Christy/Michelle's life is in danger and she is on the run.
Who was your favorite character and why?
My favorite character is Christy because at sixteen she loses her entire life and must redefine herself as Michelle, the complete opposite of who she truly is. The MC is strong, compassionate, and tenacious.
What three words best describe Laci Morgans voice?
    Upbeat and fun.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
This book get me on the edge of my seat. Even when training to be Michelle, you never knew when John was going to throw in a practice abduction attempt. Then as Michelle living her new life you still the very real threat that she would be discovered.
    Any additional comments?
I love this trilogy and will definitely be moving on to book 3.
Excellent Story of Teen Girl Placed in Witness Protection
    Any additional comments?
Protected by Cindy Hogan is an adventurous YA novel that is well written, fast paced, and consistent throughout. It is the sequel to Watched: Murder Was Just the Beginning, the first book in the Watched series. Not having read or listened to Watched, all you basically need to know for this book is that the heroine of the series, Christy, is a brainiac 10th grader who goes a high school trip to Washington, D.C. where she witnesses the murder of a senator's aide. In Protected, Christy is back from her high school trip and the terrorists who killed the aide in DC are now after her.
The majority of the book is focused on Christy entering into the FBI's Witness Protection Program, where her parents believe she died in a car crash. She moves across the country and starts training to assume her new identity as a varsity cheerleader in a new high school (keep in mind she is a true nerdy girl). Her training is more like boot camp, with a team of professionals training her in everything from gymnastics to martial arts. Besides taking lessons on self defense, she is also taught awareness of her surroundings and knowing possible escape routes at all times.
Laci Morgan did an excellent job narrating.

Hard to judge a book so poorly read
    Any additional comments?
This may be the worst reading I have listened to, worse even than the almost infamous Boy Toy for Christmas. Dreary and slow I came close to making my first return after 20 mins or so but stuck it to the end. The story has a little interest but the writing is laboured and tries too hard with its philosophy and maybe not hard enough with its credibility and dialogue.

Breathe, Annie, Breathe - Gone with the Words Review
Miranda Kenneally sure knows how to get me every. time. She knows how to write good people in tough situations. I root for them, fall for them, every. time. Breathe, Annie, Breathe was no different.
I loved Annie. She was tough and vulnerable, and determined. Her dedication to the marathon training was really admirable, considering she was never into running. The pains that came along with the training scared me from ever thinking of attempting it myself, but who knows. Right now Iâm just trying to make a 5K without passing out. Now, her reason for wanting to run this marathon was just heartbreaking. I could really feel her grief throughout the book. But those moments of happiness that were brought on by new friends and new experiences really made my heart swell with happiness for her.
Jeremiah Brown is one of those new friends I mentioned. If you read Things I Canât Forget you may remember him. He was Mattâs younger, player brother. Matt Brown is one of my favorite boys ever. Heâs just the best kind of guy. Anyway, this book takes place a few years after Things I Canât Forget. Matt & Kate are out of college, and Matt helps train people to run in marathons and such. Thatâs how Annie meets Jeremiah and I have to say, I was skeptical that Jeremiah would be what Annie needed. I mean, he was a player, no? Well, people grow up eventually, and he certainly seemed to have done some growing. It must be a Brown thing, because he made me swoon just as much as Matt did. These two will be the death of me!
I loved how slow Annie and Jeremiah took their developing friendshipâ but I was ready for them to be more than friends pretty much from the get-go. HAHA But thatâs just what I wanted, not what was right for them, or what was right for Annie, to be more precise. They have this one hot, explosive moment early on, which had me fanning myself and grinning like a fool, then itâs a lot of sweet and fun between the two. I loved it all.
Sidenote: Having listened to all audiobooks in this series the last couple of weeks, I can say with certainty that Annie has been the character who swears the most. HAHA I just found that tidbit super amusing. Girl loves her f-bombs. And, I mean, who doesnât?
There are A TON of cameos in this one that made so so so happy to read about.

    Members Reviews:
    Intresting
This is not my usual type of audio book. I have other books by this author and enjoyed them. I decided to give this one a listen. The plot and characters develop well. The ending was a let down. There is the hint that the death of Erica was influenced by bad judgement due to alcohol. Then a minor character shows up. His behavior is altered from previous story dialog. The ending is left kinda open. You are told a probable but not certain end for him. The supporting characters just show up at the climax. Their reason for showing up is weak. The author should have said a little more about how Brynna was secured by the villain. How Brynna got loose is not possible under normal circumstances. It takes a big stretch of the imagination to agree with that. What I enjoyed was the write up for a teenager who has a sudden traumatic experience. Brynna is trying to work through her guilt for living, after turning too and overcoming drugs and alcohol. Her certain knowledge of the need to stay clean everyday. Brynna has difficulties with her need for alcohol. Brynna is aware of the need to rebuild her self. She has the need to block out the past. She tries to get herself together. Then there is her parent whom she labels as a functioning alcoholic. This reflects real life. Many teenage alcoholics has an alcoholic relative. Often that relative is a parent. There is the constant temptation for booze and/or drugs for life. Brynna's parents are supportive and do what they think is best.

Girls started vanishing in the fall, and now winter's come to lay a white sheet over the horror. Door County, it seems, is swallowing the young, right into its very dirt. From beneath the house on Water Street, I've watched the danger swell.
The residents know me as the noises in the house at night, the creaking on the stairs. I'm the reflection behind them in the glass, the feeling of fear in the cellar. I'm tied, it seems, to this house, this street, this town.
I'm tied to Maggie and Pauline, though I don't know why. I think it's because death is coming for one of them, or both.
All I know is that the present and the past are piling up, and I am here to dig. I am looking for the things that are buried.
From best-selling author Jodi Lynn Anderson comes a friendship story bound in snow and starlight, a haunting mystery of love, betrayal, redemption, and the moments that we leave behind.
    Members Reviews:
This book was an excellent follow-up to the genius that was Tiger Lily
Jodie Lynn Anderson has done it again! This book was an excellent follow-up to the genius that was Tiger Lily. To be quite honest, this book was somewhat even more heartbreaking! This is probably because the story is just so damn real.
âLove can't be taken back once it's given."
The main criticism about this novel is that it is a plotless, beautifully written novel. However, I would disagree. The book is marketed by HarperTeen as this huge paranormal- mystery. However- the serial killings are more of a catalyst between the the main characters: it really is a short novel about a love triangle gone tragic- not bad. Yep, thereâs nothing Dangerous Girls about this one: itâs a tragic story about how winter comes and takes everything in its path.
The highlight of this story, in my opinion, would have to be Maggie. She has heart- she has dreams, she has so much love in her tiny, average-looking body.
"She had to do better, she knew. She had to take care of her parents just like theyâd always taken care of her."
She moves to the small, secluded Door County and meets beautiful, enigmatic Pauline and sweet, kind Liam. Together, they form this intense bond. There is a problem though: Pauline and Liam are in love with each other and wonât admit it- and Maggie is in love with Liam.
âI just, I donât see why everyone has to pair off and fall in love and everything anyway. Why canât we just stay the way we are?â
Jodie Lynn Anderson- whether she sought out to do this or not, has provided a wonderful defense of one of the most hated-tropes in YA: the love triangle. The Vanishing Season is a wonderful, whimsical portrait of love and tragedy.
    A hauntingly, amazing read!
This book was hauntingly beautiful. The writing is amazing and it just flows. If it seems slow at first, just keep reading, because it gets better after the first few chapters. I'm a sucker for twist endings, too, and this one has a BIG one so be prepared. If you like stories with a little romance and a lot of mystery, this is the book for you.
I feel like the author was in a hurry to end this ...
I feel like the author was in a hurry to end this book. It is getting good and then boom someone gets hurt, someone falls into the ice, and someone dies.

    Library Edition
Soon-to-be high school junior David Harper hates his family's move to the country. There's nothing to do, and he misses his friends in the city. But he doesn't have a choice. His mother's job is in Mason County now, so David and his mom are too, and he has to make the best of it. At first, the only redeeming feature of David's new home is the swimming hole across the field from his house. Then David meets Benjamin Killinger, and suddenly life stops being so dull.
Benjamin is Amish, and cooling off in the swimming hole is one of the few liberties he and his brothers enjoy. A friendship with an English boy is not-but that doesn't stop him and David from getting to know each other, as long as it's on the neutral ground by the creek. After David risks his life to save Benjamin's father, the boys' friendship is tolerated, then accepted. But before long, Benjamin's feelings for David grow beyond the platonic. Benjamin's family and the rest of the community will never allow a love like that, and a secret this big can't stay secret forever.
    Members Reviews:
Young English/Amish M/M romance in rural Michigan
When David Harper and his mother move to a rural area outside Ludington Michigan, David is bored and resentful and knows no one in the area. Added to that, he's feeling a bit marooned in that he has no car when his mother is at work.
What David does have is a stream and a swimming hole nearby. Then David meets Benjamin Killinger, an Amish boy his age who just might share some of David's interests...
This novel has an interesting plot-line and touches on just how difficult it is for someone who's been raised Amish to leave that community. However, the novel is handicapped a bit in that there is a lot of telling and not as much showing. That tended to make it difficult to fully engage with the story and to fully empathize with the characters or even to envision them as more fully realized, three dimensional characters.
In addition there are some points where the story strained my credibility. There is a storm scene that just did not "ring true." Not that there aren't big storms in that region, there are. It's just that the characters' reactions did not feel organic. Also David's reaction when he and Benjamin are discovered just seemed too immature for a high school senior. Conversely, the counsel of his gal-pal seemed too worldly for a girl still in high school. Finally, it seemed like the Amish concept of Rumspringa was handled poorly or perhaps not fully understood by the author.
This (debut?) novel is worth the reading time, but might have been better in the hands of a more experienced storyteller. I look forward to seeing what the author does next.
I listened to the audio-book version of this narrated by Paul Morey. His portrayal of the voices of both boys was well done and his portrayal of the women in the piece was effective if not inspired. Overall, the audio version was a good but there was a monotone aspect to this that I'm undecided about. It may have been a factor of the way that the tell-heavy, show-light, prose was structured as much as the voice performance.
A Good Heart, A Good Read
I did not even pay attention to the fact that this is a young adult title as one would find at the Harmony Ink site until I realized that the writing was not exactly aimed at older adults.

It is Labor Day weekend in Saint Paul, Minnesota, and a boy and a girl collide on a dark street at two thirty in the morning; Lesh, who wears black, listens to metal, and plays MMOs; Svetlana, who embroiders her skirts, listens to Björk and Berlioz, and dungeon masters her own RPG. They should pick themselves up, continue on their way, and never talk to each other again.
    But they don't.
This is a story of two people who do not belong in each other's lives, and who find each other at a time when they desperately need someone who doesn't belong in their lives. A story of those moments when we act like people we aren't in order to figure out who we are. A story of the roles we all play - at school, at home, with our friends, and without our friends - and the one person who might be able to show us who we are underneath it all.

Clever story, creative characters, loads of fun
This book has more layers than a simple young adult novel, and both my teenage children and I enjoyed the humor, characters and plot. Lesh is a metal head who always wears black, and Svetlana is an eccentric, artistic, creative tabletop gamer. They forge a tentative friendship at school, sitting at the same lunch table in several delightfully awkward scenes. At home, Svetlana's parents continually force her to join them in activities she finds torturous, while Lesh's parents are mostly absent yet he's grounded for 2 weeks with basically no parental supervision, during which time he begins gaming online out of boredom.
There are several chapters which describe, very humorously, the storyline of Lesh's online fantasy game, and I found these to be expertly narrated by MacLeod Andrews, causing me to laugh out loud MANY times. I'm not sure I would have enjoyed the gaming scenes as much had I read them in print! Anyone who has played or watched online RPGs will appreciate how perfectly Steve Brezenoff wrote the video game scenes, and even listeners with no gaming experience will be entertained by MacLeod Andrews' clever voicing of the fantasy characters. I felt Arielle DeLisle, with her sweet, clear, whimsical voice was a wonderful Svetlana, and MacLeod Andrews was able, as usual, to portray both Lesh's sulky teen boy voice and crazed, hormonal teen boy thoughts without missing a beat. Well done by both narrators.
Some sweetly romantic scenes plus a surprisingly clever twist at the end of the book gave it depth and raised some thought provoking questions about gender and role playing in real life. Genuine exploration of Lesh and Svetlana's journey towards making peace with their parents and their friends also kept this book from being a simple YA novel. I highly recommend it.
    whaaaaattttt!?!?!
Interesting, not Elenore & Park but good. What the freak kind of ending was that tho!?!?!?
    First Love.
What made the experience of listening to Guy in Real Life the most enjoyable?
I like the nerd culture elements and the relatability of the characters and their first love story.
What does MacLeod Andrews and Arielle DeLisle bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
I love when a book told from two perspectives use two different narrators. It brings another dimension to the story.
    Any additional comments?
This book was really cute and told a first love story in a really creative way.
