    Publisher's Summary:
In the exciting final installment of the Lost Voices trilogy, mermaid Luce swims to the San Francisco Bay where she finds a group of renegade mermaids who become an army under her leadership when war breaks out between humans and mermaids.
Mermaids have been sinking ships and drowning humans for centuries, and now the government is determined to put an end to the mermaid problem - by slaughtering them all. Luce, a mermaid with exceptionally threatening abilities, becomes their number-one target, hunted as she flees down the coast toward San Francisco. There she finds hundreds of mermaids living in exile under the docks of the bay. They are the Twice Lost: once-human girls lost first when a trauma turned them into mermaids and lost a second time when they broke mermaid law and were rejected by their tribes. Luce is stunned when they elect her as their leader. But she wont be their queen. Shell be their general. And they will become the Twice Lost Army - because this is war.

You Won't Stop Thinking About It For a Long Time
The first two books in the "Lost Voices" Trilogy have been among my favourites, but I wasn't prepared for just how much Book 3 would up the ante in every conceivable way. In a literary wasteland of too many vampires, werewolves, witches and angels a series featuring mermaids is a welcome departure, but there's so much more to say about it than that. From the somewhat insular and melancholy tone of the first two books, "The Twice Lost" suddenly takes Luce and the entire world into a state of war. Quite honestly the sheer scope of the story about the war between mermaids and humans left me reeling! I don't want to include spoilers so I will simply say that "The Twice Lost" is a harrowing, triumphant, heartbreaking, exhilarating conclusion to the trilogy and left me crying both in sorrow and in joy half a dozen times throughout.
I'm not sure how I felt about the ending, but it is open enough that it leaves me hopeful of a further venture into Luce's world and if not, then there is plenty of room to imagine whatever future for Luce that we wish. I can't recommend this book highly enough.

Fast paced, interesting, educational, and a really fun read.
This book is intended primarily for young adults, but as a 74-year-old I found it an excellent read. Ms. Kiem has a deep knowledge of Russian culture, particularly during the cold war era and the stresses/issues relating to being Russian at that time. She gives us an in-depth and educational perspective of the world (particularly America) from a Russian teenager's perspective. She has woven together a fast paced story that combines romance and suspense with interesting and diverse characters while treating us readers to an uncanny ability to communicate to us a rather complicated plot. If I were as talented with words as Ms. Kiem, I would be better equipped to tell you what a good book it is and how much I enjoyed reading it. I do hope there will be a sequel(s)because I'll be among the first in line to purchase it. Well done!
    Dancer, Daughter, Traitor, Spy
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. While possibly written for a demographic that I am no longer a part of, it was very enjoyable, suspenseful and gripping. Will definitely recommend it.
    Four Stars
    Given as a gift.
    Like nothing I've ever read
A fascinating glimpse of worlds I know nothing about... ballet, Russian language and mass transit, America from an immigrant's perspective. And a very entertaining story line. The author clearly knows her subjects. More to come?
    Much anticipated debut
The fall of the Soviet Union. 80's music. Intrigue. Loyalty. Suspicion. Elizabeth Kiem's debut had it all. I can't wait to see what happens if and when Marina crosses the ocean once again...

Love, fate, and power collide in this new series by number-one New York Times best-selling author Aprilynne Pike!
Tavia Michaels is the sole survivor of the plane crash that killed her parents. Loved the fast pace and all the mystery and unique supernatural element
They do say better late than never right? I read this as soon as it came out but I'm just now reviewing it. Sorry, for that because it's a great novel, the start of a new supernatural/paranormal series that I really loved! First there is a unique sort of romance. Well, there is a triangle of sorts but, not really. You can tell where Tavia's interests lie. As always, the book blurb is totally misleading. I'll clear it up.
Tavia has been the only survivor of a plane crash. In order to avoid publicity, her aunt and uncle keep that secret and she is not allowed to contact her friends at home. She is in New Hampshire, home is Michigan. Benson, her crush, is something that has developed just over the last few months as she's been visiting the library. He helps her with her studies as she is basically homeschooling herself. So it's not like she's liked him since the fourth grade or anything, in fact, it has only been a month since she finally came clean about who she actually was and that she realized she was falling for Benson. But now, there is this strange boy that disappears right in front of her, who dresses in period costume and feels like he's someone she should know, someone she misses. And she's not sure if she should tell anyone about him or keep him to herself. There, I should have written the blurb.
Tavia, is a unique character. She is orphaned, broken-both physically and emotionally, damaged. All of a sudden she starts seeing this boy in period costume and these silver symbols on buildings. Is she being stalked? Is she just seeing things? Or, from the strain of everything, is she losing her mind? Tavia (rhymes with cave not mauve thank you author for working that into the book) is cautious in not jumping to conclusions. She has a therapist that she talks to, but everything in her urges caution with this boy. She was headed to an art school interview with her parents when the plane crashed and so she hasn't been able to even doodle since then. Everything she loves has been ripped from her in that plane crash. Everything familiar has been taken from her. Even her hair from the brain surgery they did and a little act of frustration on her part is foreign to her. She looks in the mirror and doesn't know who she is anymore. But this is not a young woman that feels sorry for herself.

    Genres: Teens, Romance & Friendship
    Publisher's Summary:
In Resurrected (Book #1 of the Vampire Legacy), 16-year-old Scarlet Paine finds herself changing in mysterious ways. She is becoming sensitive to light, able to read peoples' thoughts, and is faster and stronger than she's ever been. She doesn't understand what's happening to her, and tries to ignore it. But she can only dismiss it for so long.
Caitlin Paine, her mom, knows too well what's happening to her daughter. She underwent the same transformation to vampire once, centuries ago. But now, in the present day, as a mere human, she has no memory of it. All she has is the journal she found in the attic - her mysterious vampire journal - telling of her exploits in another time and place, and of the vampire race being eradicated. But was there one exception to the rule? Could it be that Scarlet, her daughter, is the last remaining vampire on earth?
As Scarlet tries to fight who she's becoming, she also tries to fight her intense feelings for Blake, a boy in her grade who she has a crush on. She can't tell, though, if he's into her, and with the big Halloween dance just days away, the pressure is on. She would do anything for Blake to ask her. But Vivian, the meanest of the popular girls, is also on Blake's radar, and she'll do anything to make Blake hers - and to make Scarlet's life a living hell.
Luckily Scarlet has her own clique of friends to back her up, including her best friends Maria and Jasmin. They, too, have guy troubles - but it isn't until Sage appears, the mysterious new boy, that her friends become obsessed. Scarlet finds herself attracted to him, too - and is surprised when it is her, of all the girls in the school, that he pays attention to. But her mind is set on Blake, at least for now, and she continues to hope he'll ask her to the dance.
Just when it seems that Scarlet has what she wants, her body changes. Soon it may be impossible for her to be near her fellow humans. Soon, she may have to choose between her desire to live and her desire for love.

    Horrible Performance
What would have made Resurrected better?
Unfortunately I couldn't get past performance of Emily Gittleman to find out anything about the book. She was instantly grating and it seemed like she had never read anything aloud before. I couldn't make it past 7 minutes.
How could the performance have been better?
Not have Emily Gittleman doing the narration.

The book that started it all - with more than 18 million reads on Wattpad - revamped and rebooted!
This witch lives a charmed life...
Hadley's the envy of every girl - and the desire of every guy. But being at the top of the social pyramid has its drawbacks. Hadley's always kept her frenemies close and her secrets closer - one big secret in particular. Her key to magically having it all is that she's an actual witch.
As a descendant of the first woman executed in the Salem Witch Trials, Hadley understands the consequences if her secret gets out. The only ones who know about her powers are members of her coven - other kids and parents who, like Hadley's own family, have magic in their blood.
But there's no way to cover up an attack that causes every adult in the coven to vanish. All the evidence points to an age-old rival coven as the culprit. Now it's up to Hadley to lead the young witches against the Parrishables and to rescue their missing parents. At the same time, she's caught up in her feelings for a mysterious guy named Asher, who has plenty of secrets of his own. With everything at stake, can Hadley trust her magic - and her heart?

it gets better. That very well could be the case
I've had this book for some time now, and was extremely excited to start it. I'd found the book through a launch of another author and found out it had originally been posted on Wattpad. I'm big for supporting authors who got their start through the Orange Giant. I'd read the prologue and had been hooked to it immediately, but when the first chapter rolled around and we were with our main character, everything came to a screeching halt.
I found the main character obnoxious. I couldn't even get through the first couple chapters. She's popular, gets what she wants and has a rotating wardrobe that eliminates the possibilities of wearing the same thing twice (because who would dare be caught wearing the same outfit) all due to her magic. I found her friend who has a photographic mind when it comes to outfits more charming than the main character. I wanted to follow her instead. I don't think I've ever been so turned off by a main character in my time of reading.
Who knows, maybe it's one of those books that if you force yourself to plow through it, it gets better. That very well could be the case, but I haven't had the time to do that. When you're a college student working a job and interning, it's hard to find the time to read a book, let alone one you don't enjoy.
I'm hoping to try this tactic sometime in the future, and if anything changes, I will come and adjust my review of this book accordingly. Until then, I give it a 2 star rating.
    Fantastic New Series
Just finished LAW and LOVED it! Hadley is an awesome main character because she has a lot of depth that isn't apparent right away. I loved that she was conflicted about what she should do/the heavy responsibility of leading the coven right after she suffers a significant loss, and her not fully understanding that she really is the strongest leader of all of the twitches. I'm drawn to character development, so that really stuck with me, and how she found her confidence in the witch world.

In Vowed (Book number seven of the Vampire Journals), Caitlin and Caleb find themselves in medieval Scotland, in 1350, a time of knights and shining armor, of castles and warriors, of the quest for the Holy Grail said to contain the key to true vampire immortality. Landing on the shores of the ancient Isle of Skye, a remote island off the western coast of Scotland where only the most elite warriors live and train, they are ecstatic to reunite with Sam and Polly, Scarlet and Ruth, a human king and his warriors, and with all of Aiden's coven.
Before they can continue their mission for the fourth and final key, the time has come for Caleb and Caitlin to wed. Against the most amazing backdrop Caitlin could ever hope for, an elaborate vampire wedding is planned, including all of the ancient rituals and ceremonies that accompany it. It is the wedding of a lifetime, meticulously planned by Polly and the others, and Caitlin and Caleb are happier than they've ever been.
Simultaneously, Sam and Polly, to their own surprise, are each falling deeply in love with one another. As their relationship accelerates, Sam surprises Polly with a vow of his own. And Polly surprises him with her own shocking news.
But all is not well beneath the surface. Blake has appeared again, and his deep love for Caitlin might just threaten her union, on the day before her wedding. Sera has appeared again, too, and vows to break apart what she cannot have.
Scarlet, too, finds herself in danger, as the source of her deep powers are revealed - along with the revelation of who are her true parents.
Worst of all, Kyle has landed back in time, and has tracked down his old protégé, Rynd, to force him to use his shapeshifting skill to trick and kill Caitlin and her people. As they fall into his elaborate trap, Caitlin and the others find themselves in deeper danger than ever before. It will be a race to find the final key, before everyone Caitlin holds dear is wiped out for good.

    Finally four keys
I was starting to wonder if searching for the keys would ever end! Things started to become repetitive same thing over and over. At one point I thought I was going to quit reading when I read for the millionth time that she looked and couldn't believe what she was seeing, or that she didn't know what people where asking for when they wanted her to use her necklace by this point we could all guess what was coming. Oh and the grammatical mistakes are unreal! Like no one ever proof read the work. Names are constantly being mixed up at one point Kendra was used instead of Caitlin there are missing words or wrong words. Quite frankly my 10 year old wouldn't make so many mistakes. I hope that it was the conversion from book to e book that the mistakes were made. If I paid for a hard copy and found that many mistakes I surely wouldn't continue to buy. These e books are even over priced in my opinion I paid less for way better quality and story line. But at last I am a romantic and I love the way Caitlin and Calebs relationships is portrayed. I love that Scarlet was introduced as their daughter definitely a spin in vampire romance novels. I'm honestly excited for the next books now that there is no more searching for the keys.
    Suspenseful and romantic
I can't believe how well and researched this book is. Morgan Rice has outdone herself. She decribed castles to perfection.

An invisible girl is a priceless weapon. Fiona's own father has been forcing her to do his dirty work for years -everything from spying on people to stealing cars to breaking into bank vaults. After 16 years, Fiona's had enough. She and her mother flee to a small town, and for the first time in her life, Fiona feels like a normal life is within reach. But Fiona's father isn't giving up that easily.
Of course, he should know better than anyone: never underestimate an invisible girl.
    Members Reviews:
Quick Read but Full of Flaws
I liked the romance aspect and how the storyline is similar to the X-men. It was a quick and easy read. Other than that, I can't think of anything that stands out positively. The rest is a pile of negative aspects that I couldn't overlook.
    1) Why is Fiona and her mom so afraid that her dad would find them? She's invisible. That trait alone should make it easy for her to disappear completely. Yes, her dad has the ability to lure women to like him with his scent. So what? As long as he isn't physically near the two of them, this shouldn't affect them at all.The power does linger a bit even after the separation, but throughout the book, they started to be free. Why still be afraid?
    2) Why go to school? After escaping from her dad, Fiona is enrolled into a local school. She recently just ran away, why immediately go to school? Yes, maybe her mom wants her to feel normal and have friends. However, is it really a good idea for her to go to school especially when they are still under the dad's charm? She should have at least waited until the charm wears off. Or they should have waited a while to see if people are hunting them down. If I ran away from the head of a mafia, who has many connections with other people, I would never enroll into a school, which is filled with people.
    3) Why keep her name? After she runs away, she just kept her name. The first thing she should have done is to change her name; that would have helped her a little bit. Granted, she is the only person who is invisible, so I'm not sure how much that can help. However, that is just another reason for her not go to school! Especially since so many of the students almost immediately figured out that she's in hiding.
    4) The store scene. After school one day, She goes to a store with Bea. They see that Graham, Fiona's older, "evil" brother, is there too. Fiona instantly freaks out because she believes that he will take her back to their father. It's as if she forgot that she's invisible. Why have Bea distract Graham while she sneaks out of the store? All Fiona had to do was find a near-secluded spot and take off her clothes. Then she would be completely invisible. It's not like she's scared to walk around naked either. She used to go to missions for her dad while being naked. So why not do that now?
    5) Graham. I can't accept that Graham is actually on Fiona's side all along. Anyone who freely grabs people, fly them high in the sky, and then drop them simply to scare them will never be considered good.
    6) Why not use makeup? Throughout the book, Fiona expresses how she dislikes how she's never seen herself before. Why didn't she try some makeup? She should have used some foundation on her face. Then some lipstick so she can see her mouth.

Watched by Cindy Hogan is an excellent story of a teen girl, Christy, who is a brainiac 10th grader who goes on a high school trip to Washington, D.C. where she witnesses the murder of a senator's aide. It is well written, fast paced, and consistent throughout. Simply put, I thoroughly enjoyed listening to the Audible version of this audio book. It is edge-of-your-seat throughout and I highly recommend it.

    Kissing other boys is cheating!
I do not recommend this book/series to anyone esp. teens. It is not okay the way Summer handle her confused feelings, its not okay how this series just kept going with the mistakes. IF you really loved someone as much as the author claims that Summer loves this boys then you could not go from one's arms into anothers in matters of moments with no guilt! THIS IS NOT OKAY! Confusion about your feelings is okay do not get me wrong but the way it was dealt with in this series is just so so wrong and it just gets worse the more books you read into this seires. That will teach me about buying all the books at one time, thankfully the rest was kindle versions and I was able to return them.

People in Merit, Wisconsin, always said Jimmy was...you know. But people said all sorts of stupid stuff. Nobody really knew anything. Nobody really knew Jimmy.
I guess you could say I knew Jimmy as well as anyone (which was not very well). I knew what scared him. And I knew he had dreams even if I didn't understand them. Even if he nearly ruined my life to pursue them.
Jimmy's dead now, and I definitely know that better than anyone. I know about blood and bone and how bodies decompose. I know about shadows and stones and hatchets. I know what a last cry for help sounds like. I know what blood looks like on my own hands.
What I don't know is if I can trust my own eyes. I don't know who threw the stone. Who swung the hatchet? Who are the shadows? What do the living owe the dead?

    I really loved this book
I really loved this book. It hit on issues that alot of us deal with and don't know how to handle. I think it would be great for teens.
but I must say that it was a fast read and you really get sucked into the story
It started off a little slow for my taste, but I must say that it was a fast read and you really get sucked into the story. I love the ending.

I bought this at Barnes and Noble probably 3 years ago, give or take. It was everything I had thought and hoped a book could be. It's been a few years, so I forget a lot of it. That's quite heartbreaking now that I think about it... I'm going to go back to it soon! -- I'm getting sidetracked. When I read this book, I remember having to close the pages and take five-minute breaks. I won't spoil anything. Just know, that it is worth the money.
