    Publisher's Summary:
Goldie and Godiva are twins who live in very different worlds. Goldie Silver, an aging flower child, runs the Silver Spoon Antique Shoppe in Juneau, Alaska. Rich, manipulative Godiva Olivia Dubois authors her syndicated advice column, "Ask G.O.D.", from her Beverly Hills mansion. When Goldie finally receives a lost shipment of antique Russian tea urns, she realizes they are not the ones she ordered. The samovars sell quickly, but murder and mayhem follow each of the new owners. One customer is murdered, and the others are attacked and their samovars stolen.
Goldie and Godiva cannot convince the police that the stolen samovars and murder are related and that the local drunk they arrested is innocent. In an effort to protect the last two buyers, the Silver sisters set out on a wild chase that leads them to Seattle and Los Angeles. As usual, their elderly mother and uncle, former vaudeville magicians, get into the act. This wacky family sets a clever trap that backfires, and a zany sequence of events unfolds.

    listen to preview first!
i HAVE to learn to listen to the previews...the blaring narration has caused me to shut this off within five minutes every time i've tried to listen...occupational hazard with 'cute' mysteries but at the very least this narrator is an acquired taste, enough that i can't review the actual story!

    Walking with Ghosts
Walking with Ghosts was a fun read. I liked Honey Driver- hotelier, police liaison, and collector of Victorian undergarments. When a ghost walk ends with a murder, Honey and policeman Steve Doughty work together to find the murderer. Add to the mix a best friend who communes with ghost, a demanding mother, and several shady suspects and the mystery and fun takes off.
    The Wife's Review
back to Bath - fun read
Visitng Bath once again for an adventure with Honey Driver - a very relatable character. I particularly like character Mary Jane. Remnds me of someone I once knew. Always spot on with J Goodhind.
    an amusing read
Hotelier Honey Driver returns in the third installment of J.G. Goodhindâs series in one of the ghost walks that are popular the world over. Honey accompanies octogenarian Mary Jane Jefferies, a firm believer in the paranormal, on a ghost walk in Bath, England, on a very rainy night; also in the group is an unpleasant woman who incongruously claims both a Midwestern American accent and a British title. Lady Wanda Templeton-Jones disappears during the outing, leaving behind her large handbag.
Honey claims the bag for the woman who had said she wanted to switch to Honeyâs hotel, but Lady Templeton-Jones doesnât turn up that night â or at all. Sheâs finally found hanging at a deserted shop. Honey Driver, who is also the police liaison for Bath Hotels Association, once again joins forces with handsome Detective Inspector Steve Doherty to root out both the murder and Lady Templeton-Jonesâ mysterious origins.
The novelâs ending seems improbable, but, otherwise, Walking with Ghosts provides a good way to while a few amusing hours.

Perhaps I'm not the target audience?
I guess I prefer stories with more "action" and less dialogue and introspection. The central character, through whom we view the story, gives background, and then the protagonist and antagonist give their lengthy sides of the same story, after which there are new developments, causing the process to start again, until the somewhat unsatisfactory ending.
The narration was good, though having an American reading the translator's British English was a bit disconcerting.

It is barely three months since the murder of his wife and Thomas Lynley takes to the South-West Coast Path in Cornwall, determined to walk its length in an attempt to distract himself from his loss. On the forty-third day of this walk, he sees a cliff climber fall to his death - a death apparently witnessed by a surfer in a nearby cove. Shortly afterwards, Lynley encounters a young woman from Bristol whose personal history is a blank before her thirteenth year.
These events propel him into a case that brings Barbara Havers from London and thrusts both detectives into a world where revenge is only one of the motives they must sift through to identify a killer.
    Critic Reviews:
"Her account of surfers' lives, with their terrifying techniques and almost religious passion is worth reading." (Literary Review)
    Members Reviews:
    Carelessly written, carelessly read.
Having greatly enjoyed the novel 'With no one as witness', I was keen to read another Inspector Lynley mystery. The synopsis of this book looked fine and seemed to follow on, so I bought it. From the outset, the narrator was incredibly irritating as his so-called Cornish accent seem to veer between Ireland, Norfolk, America and anywhere in between. His pronunciation of people's names and place names also changed constantly to the extent I wasn't always quite sure who was who. As for the story It is hard to believe it's the same author of the book I had read previously. Dreadful, plodding, unbelievable And Lynley has a fairly minor role. The only decent character is Havers and she only appears in the latter half of the book. This was beyond disappointing. It was dreadful.

    Sorry but this is awful
The plot was lame at best and highly contrived and unbelievable at the worst.
Frankly it looks like one that was churned out to satisfy contractual obligations
I loved Lincoln Rhymes but I urge all his fans to avoid this one.
I love Deaver - but is someone having a laugh?
How can you justify this price for an audio book that is 2 hours and 17 mins long?
Especially with Lorelei King doing the naration in her horrible whiney voice?
Sort it out audible. If puplishers release such crap you should refuse to sell it.
Keep up the great work apart from that.

    unpredictable ending
It was a bit slow to start but once capitavited it was hard to stop listening. I'm good at predicting endings but this story took me by surprise. Mark Deakins did a great job of bringing the characters to life with the different dialects for each character. I love listening to this particular narrator and actually look for books narrated by him. The story was good but it's important to pay close attention so not to get lost. Overall well worth listening to.
    Exciting
I loved this book. I personally thought the plot was great. I too felt at first that I didn't like the reader, but soon got so caught up in the story that I couldn't quit listening.

    extremely dark Faustian thriller
In Cincinnati, thirteen year old Roxanne, Delilah and Alice perform a love ritual that is a combination of witchcraft and Santeria. Shortly after completing their spell, a new teacher arrives at their school, Our Lady of the Hills. The three assume he is heavenly sent to take their virginity.
The girls compete to seduce the Cuban-born teacher Father Romero. Roxanne succeeds, but Alice and Del fail because Father Romero is wracked with guilt after his fall from grace. Still the two he rejected accuse him of unsavory behavior; costing him his teaching position as well as defrocking him. He leaves Ohio humiliated.
Seventeen years later, Romero, accompanied by Varick, returns to Cincinnati seeking vengeance on the unholy trio who destroyed him as a Father and as a man. At the encouragement of his companion, who is the devil garbed as a man, Romero begins his quest against the thirty years old former Lolita like trio who seduced him and lied to the church about his transgressions. As the quintet get entangled with one another, the innocent are in trouble as Varick wants to burn more than just four sinners.
This is not an easy book to read as no one is an empathetic character and having young teens as sexy seductresses is difficult to accept. Still the action is fast-paced and the four humans real as their flaws overflow, which enables the devil to expedite his punishment. Targeting a limited audience, fans who enjoy an extremely dark Faustian thriller will want to read CALLING MR. LONELY HEARTS.
