Nice mystery

I came across this author by accident while searching for a mystery to read. Summer Walsh is a former police officer who is searching for herself. She travels to Atlanta to interview for a position at a day care center, but while driving around the area, spots a body in a garden. She can't help but get involved in the police investigation, as a part of her still misses the detective work. The book flowed nicely, and I liked the main character, Summer Walsh. It was a good mystery and kept me not only guessing, but reading to find out just who was the killer.

Fun read.

I really loved Summer. She is "finding" herself and accepted a job in Atlanta at a day care. I was glad that Ms. Tisdale didn't try to get Summer involved in the day to day care of the kids at the day care. (Summer lasted less than 2 days.) I was sorry when this was over and will look for more from Ms. Tisdale.

Can't wait for more!

You have a compelling story and an intriguing murder mystery, like Murder Under the Mistletoe and Offed at the Office, but they left me wondering why they were so brief. Each one of the novellas could easily be expanded to a first rate novel with a little more detail in certain places. Despite this, I've loved every one of them and could really relate to Summer.

Great mystery without the gore

An engrossing read, and hard to put down. Ms. Tisdale weaves characters into the story so they are real, believable. Will be reaching for the next Summer Walsh mystery tomorrow!

Interesting book, very annoying narration

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend the book: it's interesting and well written. The narration, however, brings it down.The narrator, an actress, is good on dialogue, tho she adopts a rather strange 'foreign' accent for one main character who is the same nationality as all the others. The narration, however, is frequently chanted, with odd intonations and pauses as if she isn't really paying attention to the meaning. This spoils what would otherwise be a five star book, and puts me off buying others in the series by the same narrator

Quick Romantic Suspense Read

Sara who is co-owner of CH Investigations, takes an undercover assignment with philanthropist and gorgeous bachelor, Collin Martin. Someone is murdering his ex-girlfriends so Sara acts as his current girlfriend to flush out the killer. Sara and Collin are drawn to each other, but Sara has a strict personal policy not to get involved with her clients. Their safety comes first but she breaks her own rules. She becomes involved romantically with her client while trying to keep him safe.

This was a quick, easy read. I found myself very quickly sucked into the story. I liked the way clues were placed along the way, but, unfortunately, I wasn't surprised at the ending or the identity of the villain.

There were some misses in this book and the reasons I didn't give it a higher rating. First was not being able to get a feeling of character connection which I feel is a necessity. Second, I questioned why the paparazzi wanted to follow around a computer whiz other than his girlfriends are being killed.

Third I never really felt I knew the hero or heroine. There was something missing in the characterization. That's not to say others won't feel differently on the topic.

Would I recommend : Yes for the suspense. Not so much for the romance.

odd but delivers well

odd premise but follows through and delivers a very good read

Had a great premise

Sara is not a likeable character. She is bigoted and awkward and we have not seen any good traits to make us disregard her really annoying quirks. Great story, nice stalker theme, but the romance sucked because the FH is an annoying twit.

Great suspense romance

Loved the characters. The mystery was really good and I liked how the two main characters worked as a team. A few other key characters helped with the story and made it fun. ***SPOILER *** On a personal note I kind of hate the angst right at the end of books. I would rather the key characters not have that big misunderstanding that could be resolved with a talk.

High Praise for this Book

I love this author. I have read most of her books and this is the second in the series. It was enjoyable and kept me interested throughout.

The last fairytale

I found this to be an enjoyable read. Pleasant protagonists and an interesting plot. What I most liked was the author's descriptions of people and places. Far too many books have authors who indulge in over-describing everything, resulting in the ghastly purple prose. Ms Green was subtle enough to avoid this and let this reader's imagination fill in the blanks. I would read more by this author.

Engaging characters will keep me coming back for more of this series.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The characters were engaging and the plot kept me turning the pages. One of the reasons I enjoyed the book so much was that I had previously read another of the Gen Delacourt books and had already connected with several of the main characters I will definitely keep my eye out for more from this author.

Perhaps I should clarify my rating. I don't rate a book a 5 unless it packs a wallop that leaves me reeling. There are many good books, but only a few that are truly great. I reserve my 5-star ratings for those.

The book had no objectionable language, sex or graphic violence.

Fascinating that this is Gen Delacourt's series, but this one was mostly written from Bree's perspective

Bree Butler is currently getting by writing bit pieces here and there: executive bios, etc. Nothing like the investigative journalism she wanted to pursue. On her way to an interview for a piece she's writing, she bumps into Gen Delacourt, a PI/lawyer who happens to live upstairs in her building and who was her friend ages ago. Fortuitous for Bree, as when she arrives at her client's office, the interviewee is dead, and the CEO finds her over the body and promptly calls the cops on her. Gen is her one phone call from jail. Bree and Gen found each other and rekindled their friendship just in time, adding their neighbor Liv to their ranks.

The plot keeps moving right along, introducing characters who may or may not need the reader's attention. I haven't seen mycelium as a menace in a book since, oh, A Series of Unfortunate Events. Greene doesn't write as though she's being paid by the page. It's smooth, her characters aren't overly ridiculous in their pursuit of the truth, though Bree pushes the envelope there a bit.

Fascinating that this is Gen Delacourt's series, but this one was mostly written from Bree's perspective, almost as though it was Bree's series. I'd read another just to see if they're all written in such a manner. Not sure why I read #2 first; I have Mark of the Loon in my kindle queue as well...

fun and amusing

A great start (for me, anyway) to a new series. Jade is an interesting P.I. who is funny, intelligent and makes mistakes like a real person. Mack, her antithesis and frankly a scene stealer, is a fantastic addition. She has to work alongside him without killing him which makes for a few really funny forays. Narration was very good - ideal voice for Jade.

I was gifted this audio book in exchange for an honest review.

Jade O'Reilly, the female lead and private investigator is on a cheating husband assignment.

The husband ends up murdered and Jade is a suspect.

Jade thinks that the detective on the murder case is hot and she ends up head over heels at his feet, literally.

Jade was a strong, smart, funny lead.

The characters were written well, the book has humor and suspense that keeps the reader guessing to the very end. .

Julie Hoverson did a good job with the narration.

Not A Very Good Read

This story needs some work. The characters are childishly unbelievable, they bounce back and forth from brave to afraid. The best friend is wild the mother is over the top and the grandma is crazy singing while a guy dies. The police officer likes her, but accuses her as if he knows she did it. She catches her enemy at her back door and the cops didn't even investigate it. Then, she breaks into her enemy's shop, finds a notice from the dead inspector about being shut down, and rat poison in the corner. Lastly, her friend the cop arrests her when he finds her with the poison in her hand. The plot is strange and it just really feels like a swing and a miss.

Good

the woman who had her own business that was a bakery that sold cookies she was recovering from an abusive marriage.

Enjoyable

The story moved at a good pace. It didn't drag on with too little happening. The main characters were fun to read about. The length of the story was short enough to read at one sitting. The ending was happy. The reader will read more of the series to see how the romance goes. Also the mystery. That's what I think.

Great short read

This is the first time I have read any of this author's work. I really enjoyed it. She kept me interested from page one. It was a good story with just the right mix of romance.
