THE BEAST IS STILL OUT THERE!

I am convinced you can begin reading a great series in the middle and not feel lost. If a book is excellent, youâll be driven to grab the earlier books. LINGER 4: THERE BE MONSTERS proved this true.

LINGER 4: THERE BE MONSTERS is so fast paced and so good Iâve not stopped thinking (shuddering) about it since I finished reading it. Iâd heard of The Killing Fields. For years Iâve driven through Houston past something else thatâs possibly another setting in the novel (or inspired a setting) and ignored itâ now I get goose bumps. Iâm glad I didnât stop there. Ever.

Friendship encircling the three characters (Kate, Weston and young Christopher) in pursuit of The Beast has clearly evolved. Their ability to understand one another is thought provoking. (Sorry, no spoilers. Youâve got to read this novel!) Now, my curiosity and the seriesâ exciting premise demand I read the others!

Chills and thrills!

This book scared the living daylights out of me! You could cut the tension with a knife. I loved the female cop--what a tough lady--and Edward Fallon clearly knows from law enforcement.

But what really got me was the suspense--it was just like the screws on a violin. With every twist and turn, the screws got tighter.

I started with this book. It's so good, I will be going back to read the other volumes.

Here There Be .. a Scary Book!

This is a scary one, and I kept the light on as I read into the night, LOL. Number 4 in the Linger series finds Kate and her partners in Texas, where Kate makes an important decision to move forward as a licensed private investigator who can carry a gun. I found this a very powerful character development, as the cop in her begins to come to life again after being sidelined by tragedy. Her gutsy determination to uncover the secrets of the monsters in their midst takes her on a lonely path of terror and certain death ... until a series of unlikely events come together to bring her back into the light. Highly recommend this book and this series!

Will Graham does it again!

Another "can't put it down" by Will Graham. His writing style always takes me by surprise. I was reading along, enjoying the book thinking "what a good book" - them BAM...everything breaks loose and suddenly I realize that what I had read was a teaser and the real story has just begun. His imagination and descriptive talent makes this one of his best books yet.

You won't be disappointed.

This is probably, to me, the most intense book in the series so far. You are dealing with a cadre of serial killers and everyone is what nightmares are made of.

A white-knuckle ride with a fantastic protagonist

What made the experience of listening to Palmetto Poison the most enjoyable?

The reader got the "voice" of the main character really well and drew me right into the story.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Absolutely - every time I thought to "put the book down" because my walk or my drive in the car was over, I'd end up sitting in my driveway or parked on my front step, unable to stop listening. Every time it seemed that things couldn't go more wrong, they did. Sometimes I wanted to wring Carolina's Slade's neck and tell her to smarten up, but I couldn't stop reading.

What does Pyper Down bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?

Pyper Down was able to make me feel like I was hearing each character when they spoke. Her inflection and tone were perfect, especially the "thoughts" going through Slade's head.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Everyone told Slade to just let it go, but she couldn't - and neither will you.

Carolina Slade is an intriguing character with all kinds of baggage and an irresistible urge to get to the bottom of things even when persisting might cost her everything; her job, her friends, her lover and even her life. And then there's Special Agent Wayne Largo, another compelling character, Slade's lover with agenda of his own that doesn't always match Slade's.

Too bad!

Enjoyed the story after being offered to read for review but the narrator was soooo slow and plodding with pauses that made me want to light a fire under her. I hate giving a poor review because of the narrator but it happens so often that the performance ruins a good storyline!

Unimaginative & Annoying Dialog

If you thought this story about a kidnapped girl being tracked by the FBI would make a good read, you would be wrong. Very annoying sexual dialog as told by a women but written by a man. Just horrible, dont bother

Who did it? This Book!

I like this book. There were so many twists and turns that it kept my mind active, trying to figure out "Who did it". I would say this is a fantastic book. i think it would rank around 4,4 out of 5. So that is close to perfect! Flesh: The Disappearance of Portia Barrington by Keith Lee Johnson is that book.

Lucinda Gainey gives us 11 hrs and 47 min of good narration. She is good, a bit dry at some places, so not perfect score. She is around 4,4 out of 5! So she is more then able to give you a entertaining book read.

Very well developed plot, story takes turns till end. Porsche is a wealthy, smart and mentalist woman in her early age and as naive as any high school girl would be. She manipulates everyone that comes in her life.

I believe this is my first book where a black woman is leading lady not happed so often. Her strength, family values, discipline are amazing.

happily married to a beautiful painter

Sam Spade's San Francisco, but without the cynicism. Private detective Cyrus Skeen is the anti-Sam Spade. He's wealthy, successful, happily married to a beautiful painter, and unambiguously opposed to evil. In "The Circles of Odin," he takes on a member of a mystical Germanic cult who is murdering San Francisco socialites. A great read.

Insightful

In this latest Detective Skeen novel Cline gives us first person insight into the thinking of each of the main characters. And does it in a way that keeps the action fast paced. As someone else has said there really is no such thing as a random crime. This is one of his best Skeen stories.

Fascinating characters engaging in thought provoking conversations

I really valued and appreciated the reality based philosophical style. If only popular fiction adopted a like approach then we would have a world with people who thought from first principles!!

Great work. I recommend it to all mystery fans.

When evil hides behind a mask of "normalcy"

The Shadow may have known "what evil lurks in the hearts of men", but Edward Cline's detective hero Cyrus Skeen can identify the bizarre irrationalities that lurk in the minds of certain men, driving them to such acts of evil. When Skeen begins to uncover a bloodthirsty Nordic-myth-based cult with Nazi connections he is aghast at the mystical savagery hidden behind facades of respectability and harmless eccentricity. Cline's portrayal of the dualistic mentality of the dedicated cultist whose mask of normalcy hides a "secret life" as an avenger of mythological paradigmns is spot-on and soberingly accurate portrayal that reminds the reader that crime is not random, and murderous ideas matter when innocent victims cross the paths of such fanatical "believers".

Enttäuschend langatmig und humorlos

Wirre, langweile Story, die dringend ein straffendes Lektorat gebraucht hätte. Es gibt zu viele Erzählstränge, die ins Leere laufen. Aus der Idee einer Sonderkommission unter Leitung eines türkischstämmigen Kommissars liesse sich mit etwas Humor etwas machen, doch an Humor fehlt es dem Author völlig. Zu allem Überfluss liest er die dröge Geschichte selber vor, und er besitzt leider überhaupt kein Talent. Der einzig positive Aspekt ist die korrekte Aussprache der türkischen Namen. Eine Zeitverschwendung.

Entertaining and Funny

This was a great addition to a fun and entertaining series. There is a lot going on and as always Kate and her friends are involved. This is a must read book for cozy mystery lovers.

No, I like real mysteries that I get to figure out who dunnit.

She was an good narrator although I was not crazy about the accents.

Not sure how this is considered a mystery but really there was just no mystery there. It is a good chick lit book with lots of nice female bonding but no mystery for us to figure out.
