Tyler W. LeBaron, founder of the science-based nonprofit Molecular Hydrogen Institute, is one of the most knowledgeable people about molecular hydrogen and its benefits. There are so many benefits we can learn from him and many other researchers from Universities around the world.
On this weeks episode the team are talking all things hydrogen with Mark Neller, Director at Arup. On the show we discuss the UK’s Hydrogen4Heat program, where Arup has been leading the UK government’s work on the safety and practical considerations that are necessary to examine whether hydrogen could be a serious solutions for decarbonising UK residential, commercial and industry heat. We also discuss the Nikola Badger, the need for system wide planning when considering decarbonisation pathways for heat. All this and more on the show!

If there was one single, completely safe, natural supplement that possessed a seemingly endless potential of miraculous healing powers, with zero risk or side effects would you want to try it?
What if one universal molecule could, prevent hangovers, reduce inflammation, scavenge free radicals, increase physical and mental energy (mitochondria+ATP), promote cellular health, improve cognitive function, improve eyesight, produce better skin health and tone, improve sleep, support healthy weight management, hydrate at the cellular level, enhance athletic performance and decrease recovery time, and eliminate the symptoms of jet lag?
By now you should be wondering what this miracle molecule is, and exactly how and why it works. This modern discovery is not new to our world. In fact, it's one of the oldest elements in the known universe. And it's everywhere, all the time. What is new is that the medical and scientific community has made the relatively recent discovery that it can be ingested or inhaled as an anti-aging, health-supporting supplement with unparalleled benefits.
This amazing substance is known as molecular hydrogen, and our guest Tyler W Lebaron is one of the worlds leading experts on this fascinating super anti-oxidant, and he has spent years researching the health implications and potential of H2 and continues to advocate for it, and it's medical applications.
In this mind-boggling episode you will learn precisely how, due to its small size and bioavailability, hydrogen can easily cross cell membranes, through the blood-brain-barrier and access parts of the cell that other antioxidants are too large to reach. More importantly perhaps, you will learn the most effective methods of ingestion, and how you can start to take advantage of its healing powers right away.

Hydrogen is the most abundant element in the universe, so is something you may not consider would be extremely effective as a biohacking tool for health, wellness, and longevity. However, as you’ll learn in this episode, hydrogen is being studied as an extremely powerful therapy that can be used to aid in many areas of our lives.
in today’s interview, I’m talking to Jeff Taraday, one of the co-owners of Trusii, who are the world’s leader in molecular hydrogen. And although molecular hydrogen therapy is relatively new in the grand scheme of things when it comes to health and biohacking, that doesn’t in any way shadow the power of this heavily-studied element.
Personally, I’ve used molecular hydrogen for years as my go-to aid in helping me stay alert, and healthy when I travel, as well as my number one tool for beating jetlag during the six months or so a year I’m on the road. Jeff and I discuss this in today’s episode, as well as many more reasons you should be getting more hydrogen in your life.

On this weeks episode the team discuss the Hydrogen Council, the global stakeholder forum that has been at the forefront of efforts to advance the role of hydrogen and fuel cell technologies globally. We are excited to have as our guests Pierre-Etienne Franc, Vice President for the Hydrogen Energy World Business Unit at Air Liquide, and Stephan Herbst, General Manager at Toyota Motor Europe. On the show we discuss why Air Liquide and Toyota decided to engage with the Council, its strategy, vision and perspective on the role that hydrogen can play in the energy transition and how companies can work with policymakers to enable this process. All this and more on the show!
Hydrogen: Scaling Up!
The Hydrogen Council’s vision for the hydrogen economy in 2050 is an ambitious yet realistic approach that would deliver deep decarbonization of transport, industry, and buildings, and enable a renewable energy production and distribution system. Achieving the hydrogen vision would create significant benefits for the energy system, the environment, and businesses around the world.
Path to Hydrogen Competitiveness: A Cost Perspective
The cost of hydrogen solutions will fall sharply and sooner than previously expected, as scale up of hydrogen production, distribution, equipment and component manufacturing continues. Cost is projected to decrease by up to 50% by 2030 for a wide range of applications, making hydrogen competitive with other low-carbon alternatives and, in some cases, even conventional options.
How Hydrogen empowers the Energy Transition
Explore the role of hydrogen in the energy transition, including its potential, recent achievements, and challenges to its deployment. To fully unlock and empower the contribution of hydrogen, key policy actions will be fundamental to accelerate the deployment of hydrogen technologies, with the support of policymakers, the private sector, and society.

This episode: Microalgae can produce hydrogen, but other metabolic pathways take priority, except when special engineered hydrogenase enzymes can overcome this limitation!
Download Episode (8.4 MB, 12.2 minutes) Show notes: Microbe of the episode: Alphapapillomavirus 11 Takeaways There are many options being explored as ways to replace fossil fuels. Electricity and batteries are good, but they have their limitations, especially for long-distance high-energy travel such as airplanes. Hydrogen is one good option: high energy density, clean-burning, simple to produce. Microbes can produce hydrogen through various metabolic pathways, including fermentation, nitrogen fixation byproduct, and photosynthesis. However, competing metabolic pathways make microbial hydrogen production less efficient. In this study, scientists engineer a hydrogenase enzyme for hydrogen production in microalgae that can compete better with carbon fixation as a destination for the electrons and protons that hydrogen production requires. This engineered enzyme allowed the algae to produce hydrogen continuously, even during photosynthesis. Journal Paper: Ben-Zvi O, Dafni E, Feldman Y, Yacoby I. 2019. Re-routing photosynthetic energy for continuous hydrogen production in vivo. Biotechnol Biofuels 12:266.
