promise? promise. pinky promises can't be broken, right? they’re sacred. we carry out this silly act of commitment to prove to everyone, including ourselves, that our promise will be fulfilled. even when we aren’t talking about something silly, like childhood crushes, we sometimes put our faith and trust into mundane ideas like pinky promises. questions like: won’t you stay? won’t you love me for me? won’t you let me love you back? where is your heart? how’s your spiritual life? are you okay? are hung on the flimsy solidarity of the wrapping of pinkies.

i'm confident. i’m powerful. i'm independent. i’m beautiful. i’m strong. i think. self doubt always seems to creep in every once in a while, destroying the courageous walls of self love and self worth that i had built over time. the bricks of worth, love, peace, and kindness seem to crumble after just one hit from the bulldozer we call insecurity. i know that i am worthy and valid and loved, yet the whispers of the world creep in. the lies and the insecurities are so overwhelming and detrimental, that sometimes, my walls aren’t strong enough for the constant attacks.

men and women are equal, they're just different. ladies, women, and girls alike are powerful, smart, loving, determined, honest, and so much more. so, why is the phrase “like a girl” used to demean and insult others? ladies, let’s take back our power and make “like a girl” become one of the highest compliments given to women and men.
