I've been completely obsessed with collecting Disney Ooshies from Woolworths NZ! 🧸 Get one for every $30 you spend, collect all 40 Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars characters. I went to the official swap day, joined the Facebook swap group, arranged trades with strangers — and I'm still 4 short with 2 weeks to go! This episode is all about the joy of collecting, why it's so addictive, and whether I'll actually complete the set in time!

I'm currently applying my Australian tourist visa and the anxiety is real! 🦘 This episode I'm chatting about the whole visa experience — what "ties to home country" means, why some countries are visa-free and others aren't, what a Working Holiday Visa actually is, and of course my plans for this trip: Gold Coast beaches, Brisbane, and finally — FINALLY — getting to cuddle a koala.

It's getting cold in Christchurch — I've been scraping ice off my windscreen every morning before work! That got me thinking about seasons 🌸❄️ I love all four, but each comes with its contradictions — summer means diving (my first dive in Green Island, Taiwan was breathtaking, and I'm planning a trip to Fiji soon!), but even New Zealand's summer sea is too cold to swim in. Winter has beautiful snow but I'm always freezing — learning to ski in Hokkaido's famous powder snow nearly killed my legs. And spring and autumn? Perfect weather, especially Japan's autumn leaves season in Kyoto. What's your favourite season?

Have you heard of the "Become Chinese" or "Chinamaxxing" trend on TikTok? Millions of people worldwide are suddenly drinking hot water, snacking on goji berries and carrying insulated thermoses — all things that are completely normal daily habits for Chinese people! This episode we're diving into Chinese wellness culture: why hot water is sacred, the fascinating logic behind "eating by shape" (核桃 walnut = brain!), and how I went from hating hot water as a kid to never leaving home without my thermos.

This episode is all about fruit! 🍉 With a feijoa tree in my backyard producing more than I can eat every autumn, it felt like the perfect time to share my favourites — from ice-cold watermelon in summer and Japan's incredibly delicate Amaou strawberries, to Malaysia's Black Thorn durian and Thailand's Golden Pillow, mangosteen that always seems to attract ants, and the uniquely New Zealand feijoa. Every fruit has its own story!

Today we're talking about getting around! 🚗 In China I used Didi, the metro and share-bike — no car needed. In Japan the trains run to the second but taxis cost a fortune. In New Zealand, a car is basically essential — my commute is 30 mins by car but an hour by bus, and the buses aren't always on time either. Three countries, three completely different transport experiences!

What do you do on weekends? 🎬 This episode I'm chatting about my weekend life in China vs New Zealand — from being a total cinema devotee who can only watch films on the big screen, to my recent visit to Parakiore, the Southern Hemisphere's largest indoor aquatic and recreation centre that just opened in Christchurch in December 2025. Plus hiking, park walks, and a fun comparison of leisure culture in both countries!

Happy Dragon Boat Festival! 🎋 Even if it's already passed, the celebration continues here! This episode we're diving into the origins of Duanwu Festival, dragon boat racing, mugwort traditions — and the great Chinese debate: savoury or sweet zongzi? My family eats both, but my personal favourite is actually plain zongzi dipped in sugar. Plus: I found salted egg yolk zongzi at my local Pak'nSave in New Zealand — I was genuinely moved!
