This week, Steph and Ash sit down with Cameron Johnson and Kyle Warren. Shout out to Kyle, who introduced Steph and Ash to Cameron, whose background is super impressive. Cameron had started, run, and sold twelve successful companies by the time he was twenty-one.
He started his first business at the age of 9, and by age 12, he was making $50,000 per year selling Beanie Babies over the Internet. At the age of 15, his online advertising network was generating $15,000 per day in revenue, joined the advisory board member of a Tokyo-based company, FutureKids, and his autobiography, “15-Year-Old CEO,” published in Japan, became an instant bestseller. He was a millionaire before graduating high school.
His business successes have been featured in Time, Newsweek, BusinessWeek, USA Today, and many more publications, as well as on the Today Show, the Oprah Winfrey Show, and Good Morning America.
In 2007, his second book on entrepreneurship, “You Call the Shots: Succeed Your Way and Life the Life You Want,” was published by Simon & Schuster and debuted at #1 on Amazon.
He has consulted Fortune 500 companies and given hundreds of speeches around the world to fellow entrepreneurs, college students, and business executives. Every one of his businesses has been a success, even in the worst days of the Internet bust. As a college freshman, he started CertificateSwap.com, an online marketplace for gift cards, which was a runaway success and for which he was offered $10 million in venture capital as a freshman. In 2009, he was chosen by Oprah Winfrey to be a cast member on her first ever primetime show Oprah’s Big Give on ABC which aired every Sunday night. He traveled the country with Oprah and her team and helped raise millions for those in need.
He is currently the Chairman and CEO of Magic City Auto Group, a 4th generation car dealership in Southwest Virginia representing 13 American brands. Cameron is passionate about entrepreneurship and currently serves on the Board of the Virginia Auto Dealers Association, as well as Roanoke City School System’s Career & Technical Education Board.
