When you self-publish on Amazon.com through their KDP program (Kindle Direct Publishing) the entire process is automated and in the control of Amazon's Androids (My term).  It makes the process on Amazon's end seamless and should make the process seamless for the self-publisher.  sometimes it isn't always easy...
