An oldie, but a goodie....we replay our holiday movie episode! Do you have a favorite made-for-TV holiday movie? Or does the genre make you cringe? The Loud Women share their favorite commercials and movies that are bound to set a mood this time of year. Plus we catch up on everyone's Thanksgiving and learn about another brilliant Loud Woman in history.
So much about this episode is relevant a year later: The holiday season isn't always filled with joy. In a tumultuous year, many are suffering. The Loud Women look for silver linings from COVID, find hilarity in Thanksgiving traditions, pay tribute to Native American women, and come to grips with a sudden loss. **This episode deals with overdose and depression and could be triggering for some. How are we are STILL talking about voting rights? The Loud Women are joined by Poy Winichakul from The Southern Poverty Law Center who helps us break down a complicated scenario of current voter disenfranchisement, and the need for federal legislation.
This week we are joined by two legal legends in the fields of abortion and human rights. Kathryn Kolbert and Julie F. Kay have co-authored a new book, "Controlling Women: What We Must Do Now to Save Reproductive Freedom." With the Supreme Court set to hear a controversial abortion case, could this be the end of protections under Roe V. Wade? Kitty and Julie share their suggestions for the current reproductive rights movement. @hachettebooks @ControlWomen
It's that time of year to tell spooky stories, dress up and eat candy. Half of the U.S. population believe in ghosts, but almost everyone can tell a ghost tale. So sit back, turn down the lights, and let's talk about what scares the S&!T out of us! If you dare.....
The Loud Women are celebrating ONE YEAR of the podcast, and what a year it's been. Politics, pop culture, and the pandemic are still on the forefront of our discussions. We pull back the curtain and share our favorite moments from our past shows. Plus we announce our Loud Woman of the year.
It's been a while since the Loud Women talked politics. As we reflect on a year of the podcast, we're noticing that while some things have changed, others remain the same. Do politicians really have our best interests at heart? Do they understand what it means to be a civil servant? And what qualifies someone to make legislation?
The inequalities in the U.S. education system are numerous. Disparities with funding skew the balance of resources, often leaving minority or impoverished students behind. Plus bias and stereotypes help to mislabel many students' abilities and challenges. What can we do to help our local school systems?
This replay is from Mother's Day weekend when the Loud Women talked about self-care. It's an important topic anytime. From reading a good book, receiving therapy, going to the gym or taking a trip to Target....self-care is self-defined, and even more important during a pandemic.
As we crawl our way out of a pandemic, many women are concerned about social re-entry. It's hard enough to navigate the world of adult friendships without the added pressures of technology, social media, and plain being out of practice. This week the Loud Women are joined by friendship coach Danielle Bayard Jackson who gives us insight on maintaining those important connections.
