Jesus told us to “guard against all covetousness” and then He taught so that we can root it out of our hearts if we find it there. But how do we prevent such a pernicious sin from taking root in us? Jesus teaches us that it has to do with mindset.

Covetousness is an unhealthy attachment to possessions and/or money.

People are driven to hypocrisy by fear. If we let people know the real us then we might be rejected, unlovable, etc. Jesus warns of hypocrisy and also gives us the cure of this unhealthy fear.
