How did so many of the Pharisees become the enemies of Jesus when much of their theology and commitment to holiness were commendable? How do we avoid falling into the same traps that ensnared them?

In explaining to the crowds why their requests for a sign will not be granted, Jesus warns them not to suppress the Light that is being revealed to them. We also must heed the warning lest we rob our souls of joy and peace.

Why are we surprised when God answers our prayers? Since God is generous, “knows how to give good gifts to His children”, and “knows what we need before we ask it”, then why don’t we see more happen when we pray?

When we pray we should expect good from God. Since even evil fathers know how to give good gifts to their children, we can be confident that our Heavenly Father will not withhold from us good.

What if Jesus meant us to follow His model of prayer in our own prayers? How might that look? How would our prayers be affected?

As good Christians we need to be aware that good service can still result in bad fruit in us. Good service can also be a source of joy. The difference isn’t the service but Jesus. Are we doing good deeds but producing bad fruit or is the fruit within us (love, joy, peace, etc) good?
