  • #058 Alli Cherry on Zero Waste Practices | Earth Day
    Stasher Bag GIVEAWAY BELOW.
I had an a-ha moment while watching Alli Cherry, that zero waste practices don't have to be so extreme. Whoa! So this week in celebration of Earth Day I wanted to bring Alli on to talk about practicing a 'less waste' lifestyle and disengaging from the disposables that are cluttering our planet. Alli shares the 'first four' method of starting zero waste and what items she considers 'must haves'. Plus, I share why I decided to talk about creating waste rather than focus on animal agriculture for Earth Day.

  • #056 Should I Support Non Vegan Companies?? Answering your Q.
Today I'm answering one of your questions, "If a company makes both vegan and non-vegan products, is it okay to buy from them?"
Since we're all about logical and practical around here, I have a few practical points to support whether I think you should or shouldn't buy from these companies. Do you agree with me? Think I'm totally wrong? Let me know on instagram, twitter, or in this episode's blog post: http://bit.ly/NonVegPost
Plus I end the show with a new segment where people tell us where they listen to the podcast. It's pretty interesting to see all the different ways people enjoy the podcast. If you want to be featured in an upcoming podcast, tell me where you listen or even send me a photo!

  • #055 Finding Balance in the Modern Hustle w Tonya of The Well Woman
Hear what I have to say about having the first non vegan guest on the show today.
In today's society we expect to have it all, to wake up and love ourselves, to fit everything in and arrive at happiness. This simply isn't possible without effort, practice and a whole lot of patience.
Today Tonya Papanikolov of 'The Well Woman', a yoga teacher, and certified nutritional practitioner, is on the show. We talk about mindfully slowing down, finding balance in today's 'hustle-heavy' world, and why it can be hard to set boundaries for ourselves. Plus of course we throw some 'girl power' talk in there.

  • #053 Amy & Billy of Cleveland Farmed Animal Save on Exposing the Reality of Animal Agriculture
Together Amy and Billy started the Cleveland chapter of the Save Movement, the Cleveland Farmed Animal Save. They are two of the kind souls who dedicate their time to expose what the animal agriculture industry doesn't want you to see, working to connect the disconnect between animals in farms and photos and animals on our plates. Recently Amy & Billy came back from bearing witness at Anita Krajnc, of Toronto Pig Save's, final court date. This duo does all of this with love and positivity, citing a strict 'non violent' stance in their work.
In this episode Amy & Billy share their experience with Anita's 'pig trial', how they work to chisel away at the idea that animals are property, and their response to Gary Francione's opinion that save movements aren't helpful to veganism. Plus they give some helpful advice on why a non violent approach can deescalate any situation.

  • #051 Lisa of Sanctuary Brewing on Kindness to Animals & Humans, Plus the Science Behind Collagen
From accounting to brewing Lisa & Joe of Sanctuary Brewing followed their passions of spreading kindness to both humans and animals. Sanctuary Brewing is both a brewery, serving up beers and vegan food, and a micro sanctuary, housing a pig, chickens, and a turkey. On today's episode I talk with Lisa McDonald about hidden ingredients that can make your beer not vegan, why as an animal lover Lisa took awhile to find veganism, and what she regrets about her vegan transition.
In the first half of the episode we get deep in to the science behind collagen. Collagen is the current buzz in health, fitness, and beauty right now. You can't escape hearing about it on the internet right now. I tell you whats really in this cruel product, (watch out the gross factor is real), and if it really adds up to better hair, skin, and nails.

  • #050 50th Episode Recap Extravaganza
Happy 50th Episode! This episode is the '50th Episode Recap Extravaganza' where we'll be recapping 12 of the past episodes with diverse perspectives, good advice, and noteworthy outtakes. In this episode you will hear clips from Timothy of Mississippi Vegan, Mark Devries of Specieism the Movie, Caitlin Shoemaker of From My Bowl and more. We'll look back on conversations such as why vegan cooking is for everyone, how to start a self love practice, what 3 items a chef thinks you need in a vegan kitchen, why we should celebrate plants, how to become more positive and so, so much more.
Honestly, I can't believe we're at 50 episodes. When I started this thing I didn't know where it was going, but I knew I had to get my voice out there and spread the 'practical vegan' message. I wanted other people to know that there is not one way to do it. You can be vegan in many different ways, they are all correct!
I am so grateful to all the wonderful people who have come on and shared their knowledge and time. It's unbelievable that we're had people from all over the world on the podcast as well as people listening from all over the world. The whole point of this thing was the spread the practical vegan message and to make vegan friends. I think at episode 50 we can say it's happening! I can't wait to see where we are at episode 100 and 150! Thank you for joining me on this journey, without you we wouldn't be at 50.
