Living Between Wednesdays

It's week one of the 2017 Living Between Wednesdays Summer Book Club! Rachelle and Dave are kicking things off with Matt Wagner's 2003 DC mini-series, Trinity.

Also in this episode: the first issue of Matt Wagner's new Mage story was out this past week, news and announcements from D23, Karen Berger reveals the first titles of her new imprint for Dark Horse, and Doctor Who gets an upgrade!

It's the 100th episode of Living Between Wednesdays! To celebrate, Rachelle and Dave and announcing the line-up of this year's book club! They also re-rate Steve Rogers as a superhunk, and find reason to re-open the Renner Report.

Also in this episode: Spider-Man: Homecoming! So many spoilers for that movie!

Here's the thing: Dave and Rachelle love the third and final movie in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy. LOVE. IT. Is it perfect? No. Is it mostly very fun with some unfortunate Venom stuff crammed in? Yes.

Also in this episode: Marvel starts to unveil it's Legacy titles (all...sigh...52 of them), the Han Solo movie very suddenly gets a new director, and comics like Shirtless Bear Fighter, Spectacular Spider-Man, Iceman, Green Lanterns, Captain America: Steve Rogers, Archie, Lobo Road Runner Special, and Trespasser are discussed.

Rachelle and Dave are moving on to the second, and most highly regarded, movie in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy. Though many still consider Spider-Man 2 to be one of the best super hero movies of all time, Dave and Rachelle have some problems with it. A lot of problems.

Also discussed in this episode: the leaked trailer for Inhumans, Jack Kirby gets a Disney Legends award, Rachelle is struggling to beat Baron Strucker in the 2011 Captain America: Super Soldier video game, and Hawkman gets rated as a super hunk.

We are mere weeks away from the release of Spider-Man: Homecoming, so Rachelle and Dave thought it would be fun to spend the next three episodes revisiting Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy.

Also in this episode: the world says farewell to Adam West, Marvel released a teaser trailer for Black Panther, and Hawkeye gets rated as a super hunk.

This week Dave and Rachelle are talking about the Wonder Woman movie, of course! Isn't everyone?!

Also discussed in this episode: the new creative team for Runaways, Secret Wars #3 (and the tie-ins), Cable #1, and Elongated Man gets rated as a super hunk!

You know those characters who never quite look right if they're not drawn by maybe one or two particular artists? Yeah, Rachelle and Dave are talking about those guys this week.

But also: men losing their minds over an all-women screening of Wonder Woman, a scary situation at the comic con in Phoenix, a ridiculous poster for Spider-Man: Homecoming, and speaking of Spider-Man...Peter Parker gets rated as a super hunk!

Dave and Rachelle are back from a weekend at the East Coast Comic Expo in Moncton, New Brunswick. They've got some highlights to share from that, as well as a lot of news to discuss. They also continue where they left off last week by revisiting the 1974 Captain America and The Falcon story, Nomad.

Also in this episode: a Venom movie announcement, a DC Jack Kirby celebration, Secret Empire #2, a trailer for Star Trek Discovery, Doctor Strange gets rated as a super hunk, and the return of This Week in Winter Soldier.

Because it's timely for, er, multiple reasons, Rachelle and Dave decide to re-read Marvel's original Secret Empire story line from 1974 (Captain America and The Falcon #169-176).

Also in this episode: the final (insane) season one episode of Riverdale, a new Mister Miracle series is announced, a Hellboy movie reboot and, in honour of his new series, we rate Mister Miracle as a super hunk!

Rachelle and Dave saw the latest Marvel blockbuster, Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2, and they've got thoughts!

Also in this episode: the penultimate episode of Riverdale, new trailers for Blade Runner 2049 and Wonder Woman, another super hunk gets rated, and a whole bunch of crazy stuff goes down in Marvel's Secret Empire.
