Today on LIVING IT LOUD: Krista Baldwin brings her creative and drag racing expertise as Director of Marketing to the Wharton Automotive Group. Beginning as the company’s social media intern in 2014, Baldwin attended Northern Arizona University for her bachelor’s degree in public relations and photography. When she graduated in 2015, she joined the Wharton Automotive Group team full time. Her duties include marketing head, social media, graphic design, sponsorship, media relations, and trade show coordinator. She is also the general manager and fleet manager on Paul Lee’s Nitro Funny Car team. Outside of the office, Krista is also a third generation Top Fuel dragster team owner and driver in the NHRA. On the weekends you will find her covering the dragstrip at 330 mph in 3.7 seconds. 

Katie Buttera is doing everything she can to keep the legacy baby dream alive. Granddaughter of the Hall of Fame funny car builder John Buttera, All she has ever known is being at the racetrack. Following in her family's fabricator reputation, in 2017, after teaching herself how to weld, she founded her business Apple Girl Art creating one of a kind jewelry and sculptures, mostly with a racing theme, made of burnt up parts from all different kinds of racecars. When shes not busy running a business, she spends most of her weekends at the racetrack with bestie Krista Baldwin, doing what they love most; playing with top fuel dragsters. Today on Living it Loud: Rev. Renee Bingham of Kings Mountain, NC, is the co-founder of God Speed Ministry.  She and her husband, Gary, created the ministry at the request of Bill Bader, owner of the International Hot Rod Association (IHRA). The ministry includes volunteers of lay people and ordained ministers who minister at Motorsports events across the US and Canada.  God Speed Ministry was formed in 2004 to serve the IHRA and has expanded to include various events including the Professional Drag Racing Association (PDRA), the World Drag Racing Alliance (WDRA), and other series and events.

 Renee is married to Gary Bingham, a 4 time IHRA World Champion.  They have 2 married daughters and 2 grandsons.  Both daughters and one son-in-law are also event champions in IHRA Drag Racing.

This week on LIVING IT LOUD:  James Hoxworth is a pastor with a heart for community and a passion for ministry. Growing up in a small town in Nebraska, James learned the value of hard work and faith while working on his family farm. He pursued his calling by earning a degree in Christian Education and Ministry from Wheaton College and later a Master of Divinity from Phoenix Seminary.  After serving in a Christian school and various church roles, James moved to Denver in 2014 to help plant Bridgeway Community Church. Since 2018, he has been leading The Bridge Church at Bear Creek, where he enjoys preaching, mentoring, and developing ministry opportunities to impact the southwest Denver community.  James is a devoted husband to Sarah and father to three children, Michael, Molly, and Brady. In his free time, he enjoys outdoor activities, sports, and intentional moments with his family.

“After selling Gypsum Products, realizing my time remaining in the industry I had spent 26 years in would be short, I knew I needed help figuring out the next chapter in my life. One thing I knew for sure – I was not the kind of guy who was going to coast through retirement sitting in front of the TV watching old westerns. At the encouragement of my wife, Terrie, and good friend John Scott, I signed up to go through the HalfTime coaching program. Halftime, a book written by Bob Buford, is a manual for people entering retirement or career change, aimed at turning first half of life success into second half significance. It is based on finding one’s Ephesians 2:10 calling.  The other major decision Terrie and I made was to take a portion of the proceeds from the sale of the company and start a family foundation. There were several factors that went into that decision. First, we knew God was in charge of the events leading to the sale of the company. Second, we wanted to begin giving back to the Kingdom in a significant way. Next, we wanted our sons to understand we wished to build a family legacy of giving and we were hopeful they would participate with the management and decision making of the foundation. Finally, we weren’t just going to throw money at needs. Our interest was for our entire family to use the unique qualities God instilled in us to help the non-profits we work with succeed.”

She brings determination, passion, and a strong belief in the dignity of all people no matter the challenge before them.  Prior to this work Mrs. Johnson was the Assistant Secretary for the Administration for Children and Families in the US Department of Health and Human Services. Â In this Senate confirmed position she led a large agency with a budget of over 59 billion dollars and over 60 programs to improve and enhance the lives of our most challenged children, individuals, and families. As Assistant Secretary, Lynn created the ALL IN for Foster Care and Adoption Challenge as a national call for every state, including governors, agencies, courts, churches, community organizations, foster alumni and the public to commit to being ALL IN for Americaâs children.  As the Executive Director of Jefferson County Department of Human Services in Colorado she used a comprehensive lens to provide dignity and respect for our most vulnerable members of the community to end poverty, eliminate abuse and neglect and stop the trafficking of children. Appointed to numerous committees, her expertise ranges from child welfare to welfare reform and criminal justice.  Mrs. Johnson has won numerous awards for Excellence in successful transformations of Human Services and customer service.

This week on LIVING IT LOUD: The story of Bobby Bennett in drag racing is one of a kid who was determined to be part of the sport.  At the age of 12, he developed a motto that would be the driving force in his life. When no one will give you a chance, you have to make your own chance.  From there, the enterprising 12 year-old kid worked his way up the ladder of his local dragstrip, Spartanburg Dragway, ascending to the role of race, Director, track reporter and announcer within a year. This determination and persistence would lead him up the ladder of drag racing journalism as a reporter for his favorite magazine Super Stock & Drag Illustrated. After a decades of working in the printed magazine industry, he saw an opening in the wide open frontier of the internet. CompetitionPlus.com was launched in 1999, and has been a trailblazer in the industry for over 25 years now. The goal for this magazine was to bring legitimate journalism to the Internet. 

“Every great journey starts with one step, and for me every step I’ve taken the good Lord above, has been with me and steered me in the right direction,” Bennett said. “ I was just a kid with a dream, and I’m still that kid every day when I wake up at 4 AM and start cranking out copy for the magazine.”

As a professional school counselor for 24 years, Sandy has counseled students in the aftermath of four school shootings, plus four suicides in eight months at a fifth school. Now as the Executive Director of the nonprofit B.I.O.N.I.C. Team (Believe It Or Not I Care), Sandy empowers students in schools worldwide to create caring school cultures by reaching out to struggling peers to let them know they are seen, they matter, and they are not alone in order to prevent bullying and suicides. Sandy is an international speaker, has written three books, was a “School Counselor of the Year Finalist” for the American School Counselor Association (ASCA), and has won two Lifetime Achievement Awards. She is a recognized leader serving as President of two state school counseling associations in Colorado and as the Facilitator for the ASCA’s Crisis Professional Interest Network.
