E115 - Eric Maynard - Host of Author Blurb Podcast and Author of a Trilogy
E. A. Maynard had spent more years than he care to count traveling the United States of America and he had meet so many people that have help me have great adventures. The good and bad is what he draw from in my writing. He started off all these adventures in Ohio. In fact, Ohio was where he lived for over thirty years till he moved to the Washington DC area. Now he lives in Virginia a bit away from DC and that is how he likes it.
E. A. Maynard grew up in a small farm town in Northwest Ohio called Risingsun. It was a good and boring town when he was growing up. He was far from a saint, but when there is not much to do, a kid or teenager will find something to do. This led him to being very mischievous and took that well into being an adult. He also liked being that way.
E.A. Maynard has become much more laid back now and lives a different kind of adventure. He is a husband and a father. His family has been a strong theme in his past and present, so you will see this in his writing.

E111 - Perley-Ann Friedman - From Tourist to Resident, Retiring on the Island of Koh Lanta, Thailand
Perley-Ann Friedman is a Canadian author living in the remote paradise island of Koh Lanta, Thailand. As an avid charity worker, cat-lover, expat, retiree, and self-confessed “boomer”, Perley-Ann strives to entertain readers with her life of knowledge, learnings and stories.
I love to write. Been writing since before I started kindergarten. Telling stories is just part of life, a way we entertain ourselves, whether we are telling the story or listening to someone else’s. It’s what keeps us interested in learning, exploring and experiencing our lives.
My most recent book is my story of how I ended up living on Koh Lanta, a small island in southern Thailand.
Moving to Koh Lanta was the best decision I’ve ever made, and I’ve made a lot of decisions. Most of them weren’t great and many were a disaster, but that’s how we learn and grow. I’m okay with screwing up. It makes my life interesting.
My recent book ‘Retired Way Out There: My evolving life on Koh Lanta, Thailand’ is the story of my decision to retire on a remote island. Do you ever think about retiring somewhere completely different from where you lived most of your life? I did, and now I want to share my adventure with you.
You can read about my many trips to the island, my decision to retire there, and get a home. You can marvel at all my adventures, perils and discoveries, as I transition from a tourist to a local expat. There is also a chapter with helpful advice for those thinking about retiring abroad. The book is interesting, fun, and full of the crazy situations that I got myself into, and out of.
My career and passions have taken me to the Forbidden City, through Tibet, over Everest and to Jim’s Grave. I’ve met the Dali Lama, Pierre Trudeau and my life-partner. I’ve been to Stonehenge, the Acropolis, through the Maasai Mara Reserve, the base of Mount Kilimanjaro, swam in the Dead Sea and toured the Panama Canal.
I may be over 65, but I’m happy, healthy and looking forward to what life brings my way.

E110 - Patty Block - Helping Women Business Owners Generate More Revenue with Less Stress - What's Next for Your Business
In 2006, I created The Block Group to empower women business owners who are experts in their fields. As their trusted advisor, I bring a unique perspective, having experienced and solved many of the same complex issues we face as women, as leaders, as moms, daughters and sisters.
62% of women rely on their businesses for their primary income, yet 88% of these businesses generate less than $100,000 in annual revenue.
Having seen the same struggles time and again, I teach women how to shift their mindset and build their confidence to generate more revenue with less stress by reimagining pricing and selling.
I’m a firm believer that, when women earn more, everyone around them benefits - their staff, their family and their community.
This meaningful work allows me to fulfill my mission of turning roadblocks into building blocks for women-owned businesses.
Clients often refer to me as their “business therapist” and “secret weapon” because I form strong relationships, understand and refine their company’s internal workings, and serve as a strategic sounding board.
I’ve raised three wonderful humans and have now welcomed their partners into our family. My kids have the entrepreneurial bug too and I’m so proud of them!
