  • E107 - Michal Stawicki - Polish Author and Coach - How Writing as a Side Hustle Led to a Change In Career Path

EPISODE 107 - Michal Stawicki - Polish Author and Coach - How Writing as a Side Hustle Led to a Change In Career Path

I'm Michal Stawicki and I live in Poland, Europe. I've been married for over 19 years and am the father of two boys and one girl. I worked full time in the IT industry before becoming an author. My passions are transparency, integrity and progress.

In August 2012, I read a book called "The Slight Edge" by Jeff Olson. It took me a whole month to start implementing ideas from this book. That led me to reading numerous other books on personal development, some effective, some not so much. I took a look at myself and decided this was one person who could surely use some development.

In November of 2012, I created my personal mission statement; I consider it the real starting point of my progress. Over several months time, I applied several self-help concepts and started building inspiring results: I lost some weight, greatly increased my savings, built new skills and got rid of bad habits while developing better ones.

My books are not abstract. I avoid going mystical as much as possible. I don't believe that pure theory is what we need in order to change our lives; the Internet age has proven this quite clearly. What you will find in my books are:

    - detailed techniques and methods describing how you can improve your skills and drive results in specific areas of your life
    - real life examples
    - personal stories

So, whether you are completely new to personal development or have been crazy about the Law of Attraction for years, if you are looking for concrete strategies, you will find them in my books. My writing shows that I am a relatable, ordinary guy and not some ivory tower guru.

Stephanie resides in New York City’s Upper West Side with her scruffy Puerto Rican street dog, Luna.

I am a podcaster, first and foremost. It’s my passion, and I don’t know where I would be without it. Currently, I have three podcasts: My first podcast, The Fun with Friends Podcast, my summer break podcast, What Ya Streamin’?, and my latest podcast, The Wandering Creatives Podcast. I’m so very proud of every one of my podcasts because I never thought it was something that I would be doing and enjoy so much.

I’m most proud of my latest podcast, The Wandering Creatives Podcast, because it’s all about sharing the voices of the creatives and makers behind the products you love. I get so much joy from meeting other creatives and hearing their stories, and I love being a platform for them to share their voices and love what they do.

  • E102 - Meredith Tutching - Forest of Reading - Canada's Largest Recreational Reading Program - Inspiring Students to Find Joy in Reading

    EPISODE 102 -

In this episode of Living The Next Chapter, I have a conversation with about The Forest of Reading - an initiative to put the joy back into reading for Ontario Students and beyond!

The Forest of Reading is Canada’s largest recreational reading program! This initiative offers ten reading programs to encourage a love of reading in people of all ages. The Forest helps celebrate Canadian books, publishers, authors and illustrators. More than 270,000 readers participate annually from their school and/or public library. All Canadians are invited to participate via their local public library, school library, or individually.

The Forest of Reading Award Programs are where children and young adults pick the winner! Readers choose a program that they would like to be a part of, usually based on their age or grade, and simply begin reading! They can read all ten of the titles, or pick and choose to read only the ones they are interested in. Participants are encouraged to read at least five of the ten titles to be eligible to vote in April. This program aims to encourage a genuine and life-long love of reading among readers of all ages.

Goals of the Forest of Reading
Love of reading: Create a meaningful experience for your readers and give exciting opportunities for reluctant readers to become lifelong readers.
A proven head start: The results are in! Children who read for fun have higher literacy scores, have more success in science and math, and are more socially and civically engaged (Reading for Joy, P4E, 2011).
Libraries at centre stage: With fun activities, prizes and more, the Forest of Reading puts libraries at the heart of the action!
Reading Canadian: Help support and celebrate Canadian books, publishers, authors and illustrators by taking advantage of the Forest’s curated, all-Canadian reading lists for all ages and levels.

What is the Forest of Reading?
The Forest of Reading® is Canada’s largest recreational reading program! This initiative of the Ontario Library Association (OLA) offers eight reading programs to encourage a love of reading in people of all ages. The Forest helps celebrate Canadian books, publishers, authors and illustrators. More than 250,000 readers participate annually from their School and/or Public Library. All Canadians are invited to participate via their local public library, school library, or individually.

When did the Forest of Reading begin?
The program began with the Silver Birch® award in 1993 (Grades 4 – 6) and over the next decade programs were continually added as they attracted the attention of principals, school boards and public libraries across Ontario.

For authors/illustrators and publishers, the exposure to their books is immense. In the 1990s the individual tree programs had their own small ceremonies with hundreds of kids in Toronto. In 2007, OLA teamed up with the International Festival of Authors to create the Festival of Trees and present all awards in one location. This is now the largest children’s literary event in Canada. In 2015, the Toronto Festival and satellite Forest events were attended by 20,000 young readers.

    EPISODE 101 -

Kristina Lucia Andrews - Handmade Crochet Characters and Accompanying Children's Story Book

Combining her talents to create gorgeous handmade crochet creations with her book to bring these characters to life!

Kristina Lucia is an artist, creator, and author who ignites the imaginations of children and their parents through her limited edition animals and touching storybooks. Her humble beginnings in a small farm town (there was only one traffic light!) sparked her creativity at a young age and her adopted home of New York City keeps her inspired daily. Curiously Curated Creations of Kristina Lucia features a magical array of warm, cuddly and comforting creatures along with storybooks that help parents and kids
improve their communication and deepen their relationships.

Whether she is strutting down Fifth Avenue in Manolos or curled up on her sofa in slipper socks, Kristina is ready to create a masterpiece. Her crochet hooks and knitting needles are always within reach to whip up anything from stuffies to baby sweaters, while her kitchen table is often covered with her watercolor paints and brushes or freshly baked cookies.

After an injury forced her to reconsider her 100-mile-an-hour corporate career, Kristina realized her true path: to be the artist she was meant to be. The door of Curiously Curated Creations of Kristina Lucia opened upon her receiving a sign from her Mom. The journey began in November 2019.

Kristina is also a competitive dancer, an avid reader, and travel buff. When she is not working, you can find her in the studio dancing her cha cha, with her nose in a book, or exploring a new destination.

    EPISODE 100 -

Dominick Domasky - Our 100th Episode Monumental Moments and how to celebrate the little things

In this episode we discuss the Importance of Gratitude in Daily Life

There are many ways in which you can cultivate your gratitude, there are some people who would say that gratitude doesn’t have to be something that has to be cultivated because it’s the most natural thing in the world.

Others say it is an art form, something you have to work at in order to perfect.

5 Ways to Sweat the Small Stuff and Live a More Fulfilled Life
The small stuff matters and we should spend time paying attention to it.

1 - Understand what you want from life and make those wants known
2 - Start your day right, with a healthy mindset
3 - Find someone who will hold you accountable for the small stuff in life
4 - Celebrate the small victories
5 - Know your limits as an individual and don’t push yourself beyond those limits (Are there limits? Dom challenges this thought!)

Dominick was our very first guest back in episode 3, Dom returns now to look back over 100 episodes and we take a moment to thank and encourage Dom with voice messages from his very own group of Authors that he has helped over the years!  Stick around to the very end to hear 12 minutes of love displayed to Dom by those that love him the most.

  • E99 - Fred Rutman - Living Life After Dying Twenty Times

    EPISODE 99 -

Fred Rutman - Living Life After Dying Twenty Times.  Fred's new book is coming out March 9th 2024

Fred Rutman, aka “Repeatedly Dead Fred” was a marketer/consultant and then went into academia as a college professor. He taught MBA, Marketing and Finance for a number of years. After acquiring his MBA, his weight really ballooned, up to 340 pounds. He did all the CICO methods, tried a bariatric doctor (no surgery) and exercised his butt off. He eventually got down to about 280, where he plateaued. Then, the summer of 2009 came crashing down on him and forced him into permanent medical leave.

His heart was stopping and was clinically dead dozens of times. Each time his heart stopped, he collapsed and hit his head, sustaining multiple concussions.

In 2018, he learned about intermittent fasting and life hasn’t been the same for Fred since. He attributes the large majority of his recovery to the healing powers of IF. He reversed T2 diabetes and some of its related issues, and is no longer asthmatic. His sleep apnea even went away. There is still some perpetual anxiety, PTSD and Post-Concussion Syndrome but it gets better every day.
