Text:                      Galatians 5:16-25

Title:                      When You Are Running on Empty: “Keeping In Step with the Spirit”

Theme:                  God created us in God’s image, that doesn’t mean we necessarily look like God but it does mean that if we are to be happy and joyful in this life we need to live like God created us to live. Paul tells us that one secret is to keep in step with the Spirit and as we follow the Spirit what we learn is one way to fill our tank is to fill the tanks of others.

Theme:                  Our lives are filled with worry, fear, stress and overwork. Eventually these things take their toll on us and we find that our spiritual and emotional tanks are all but empty. After the events of the crucifixion, the disciples were completely empty. But through the resurrection Jesus filled their tanks, and he can fill yours as well.

Theme:                   As Jesus spends six hours dying on a cross he cries out to God and asks, “Why                                 have you forsaken me?” In other words, “Where are you God?” And as we look                                 at the cross we might ask the same question, “Where are you God? Why would                                you allow this?” But then if we look very close at the cross we see God. God was                                       there the whole time.

Theme:                  The time just before Jesus was crucified was a time of Blood and misery. Jesus    was beaten, humiliated and forced to carry his own cross through town. But one        man by the name of Simon shared some of Jesus misery as he was forced to         carry Jesus’ cross. But then this happens to any of us who get too close to the cross, we’re forced to carry it.
