Greater Things Than These
In the darkness of winter, the light of the epiphany season shines through Jesus on us. That light began with a star in the east and brightens to show the heavens standing open. That light calls us to fish for people, to hear the teaching of Jesus, and to venture in new ways and into new places with the light of Christ. In this light we see Jesus, only Jesus, and others can see Him, too, though us.

The One
For the time of Advent and Christmas, the overarching theme is “the One” teaching us how God works through individuals to accomplish God's saving work. Most significantly, God works through His Son whose coming we celebrate and anticipate. But there are other individuals who also play a role--John the Baptist, the virgin Mary. the shepherds and old Simeon. These individuals point us to the One and show how each one of us can point to the One in our lives, too ... each one reaching one who reaches one who reaches one.

The writers of the psalms faced great challenges which they could not overcome without God's help. Their cry for restoration is our cry too as we await the fulfillment of God's promises in a child.
