This is a replay of a podcast I posted over two years ago. It's based on a quiz I gave my students at that time. At the end of the dialogue, the students say that they listen to my podcasts every day, but they are just trying to flatter me. On the other hand, a former student of mine told me last night that he's been listening to my podcasts to help him prepare for the IELTS speaking exam. Thanks, David! That's really encouraging. :-)

In this episode I talk about words like gosh, shoot and darn that we use if we don't want to use a bad word.
Two students are talking:
A: Hey, Lisa, how are you?
B: Oh, hi, John. I'm OK. Actually, I'm not OK. I just took Miss Buswell's quiz!
A: Oh my gosh, I took it this morning! It was so hard!
B: It was too hard. I didn't think she would ask such detailed questions.
A: Yeah, right? She said the quiz was going to be on the podcast interview with Max, but who could have guessed she would make it so hard?
B: Yeah. I bet I missed half the questions.
A: My goodness, I bet I missed half, too, darn it.
B: Well, what can we do? Maybe she'll have mercy on us.
A: Maybe. Quiet! Here she comes. Hi, Miss Buswell.
B: Hi, Miss Buswell. You look very nice today. I like that color.
Miss Buswell: Thanks. . . . but are you trying to flatter me? Flattery will get you nowhere.
A: Oh, no. We mean it. And we love your podcasts, too. We listen to them every day.
Miss Buswell: Really? That makes me happy.
B: Now about those quizzes . . . .
