Lobbing Scorchers

The Seattle Sounders are back at it this weekend and there's plenty to talk about following the exciting arrival of Dejan Joveljić as the Rave Green return home for a blockbuster matchup with Robert Lewandowski and Chicago Fire FC. We'll preview the matchup with Alex Campbell of CHGO Sports, who joins us to give the lowdown on Chicago's emergent season in Year 2 under Gregg Berhalter and the impact Lewandowski has made since his blockbuster summer arrival to MLS.

Later on, we'll talk more about Joveljić as the Serbian striker readies to make his club debut on Saturday. Then, we'll dive into the open letter Adrian Hanauer released to supporters on Wednesday and what to make of his message amid a turbulent stretch for the club. #UTL

With the Seattle Sounders finally reportedly pursuing a No. 9, we're breaking down the big news and what it could mean for a Sounders team that just broke the longest losing streak in club history. Is Dejan Joveljić the striker who can save Seattle's season? And how does he stack up against some of the other No. 9s from across MLS?

We'll also react to the Sounders' draw in Cincy and ask: Between the performance at TQL Stadium and the potential arrival of Joveljić, are the vibes of the 2026 season finally headed back in a positive direction?

The Seattle Sounders’ nightmare skid continued with a 2-0 home loss to the Vancouver Whitecaps, raising an increasingly unavoidable question: Is this rock bottom? We dive into it all on this deeply cursed episode regarding the squad's worst performance yet, the continuing injury crisis, an attack that has completely stalled out and where the responsibility lies for a collapse that has now reached seven straight league defeats.

Seattle Sounders young star and designated player Pedro De La Vega's season is most likely over. During a press conference today Sounders Head Coach Brian Schmetzer revealed De La Vega has a very significant left quad pull that may require surgery.  Brian Schmetzer told media, "Pedro has a very significant left quad pull. He is probably out for the remainder of the year. They’re talking about maybe a surgery maybe not, they’re going to a second opinion and a third opinion [from] the best doctors in the United States plus another doctor from Argentina. We are looking to cover all of our bases with this injury, but it is pretty significant."

The Seattle Sounders' seven-match losing streak is mercifully over after their 3-0 win over Querétaro, so it’s time for another round of Cope or Hope where we'll assess what this result means for Seattle’s 2026 chances. We unpack whether Alex Roldán can be a true double-pivot solution, whether Albert Rusnák’s goal signals a return to form, and if Danny Musovski’s breakthrough proves he can rediscover last season’s production. We also assess Sebastián Gómez’s first senior strike and whether it earns him more minutes, and whether Paul Rothrock can shoulder an even bigger creative load with Pedro De La Vega unfortunately sidelined once again.

Plus: reactions to Leagues Cup Phase One and what the competition’s early results mean for team momentum heading into the season.
