The Dallas Cowboys have a serious roster BATTLE brewing, and Michael Trigg and Camden Brown are making it increasingly difficult for the coaching staff to ignore them. As Dallas Cowboys training camp rolls on, young and undrafted playmakers are fighting for their NFL futures—and a few could become legitimate weapons for Dak Prescott and the Cowboys offense in 2026.
James Duncan breaks down the rise of Michael Trigg and Camden Brown and why their performances could shake up the Cowboys’ final 53-man roster. With Jake Ferguson established at tight end, Trigg’s emergence creates an intriguing competition behind him and puts additional pressure on former second-round pick Luke Schoonmaker. Could Dallas choose production and upside over draft pedigree when making its final roster decisions?
The competition at wide receiver could be just as fascinating. Camden Brown continues fighting for his opportunity while seventh-round pick Anthony Smith and other young Cowboys receivers battle for limited roster spots behind stars CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens. Every catch, touchdown and training camp rep matters when the difference between making the Cowboys roster and being cut can come down to just a handful of plays.
Michael Trigg or Camden Brown—which Cowboys underdog has the best chance to make the 53-man roster? Could Anthony Smith steal the final wide receiver spot? And could one of these overlooked young players eventually become a difference-maker when Dallas needs additional weapons late in the season?

The Dallas Cowboys offensive line is officially under the microscope after a revealing joint practice with the Los Angeles Rams. Tyler Guyton continues to show encouraging growth at left tackle, but Terence Steele’s struggles on the opposite side could become one of the biggest concerns surrounding Dak Prescott and the Cowboys offense in 2026.
James Duncan breaks down what Tyler Guyton showed against the Rams pass rush, why his development could be massive for Dallas, and whether the Cowboys are finally seeing the young tackle take the next step. Guyton’s ability to protect Dak Prescott’s blind side becomes even more important for an offense featuring CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens, Jake Ferguson and a talented collection of playmakers.
But while Guyton is trending upward, what is happening with Terence Steele? The Cowboys need stability at right tackle, and Steele’s struggles combined with questions about Dallas’ offensive tackle depth could create a major problem. It doesn't matter how many weapons Dak has if he doesn't have enough time to get them the football.
Can Tyler Guyton emerge as a reliable starting left tackle? Should Cowboys fans be concerned about Terence Steele? Does Dallas have enough offensive line depth if injuries strike? And could offensive tackle ultimately determine the ceiling of this Cowboys offense?

Dak Prescott and George Pickens put on a show during the Dallas Cowboys’ joint practice against the Los Angeles Rams, giving Cowboys fans another reason to get excited about the potential of this offense in 2026. Prescott looked sharp throughout the competitive periods, while Pickens continued his impressive training camp with another strong performance against the Rams secondary. The biggest development may have come in the red zone, where Dallas consistently found answers and showed how difficult this offense could be to defend when Prescott is distributing the football efficiently.
With CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens commanding attention on the outside, the Cowboys suddenly have multiple ways to punish opposing defenses. KaVontae Turpin, Brevyn Spann-Ford and the rest of Dallas’ supporting cast also contributed as Prescott spread the ball around and kept the Rams guessing. When Lamb and Pickens are both winning their matchups, defensive coordinators are faced with an uncomfortable question: who do you double? If Prescott continues playing in rhythm, there may not be a good answer.
The Cowboys offensive line also had encouraging moments, with Tyler Guyton returning after a brief injury scare and continuing to build momentum during training camp. Michael Trigg and Ryan Flournoy are also fighting to establish themselves as additional weapons in Brian Schottenheimer’s offense, giving Dallas even more potential options as the regular season approaches.
On this episode of Locked On Cowboys Hit, we break down Dak Prescott’s strong joint practice, George Pickens’ continued dominance, the Cowboys’ improved red-zone offense and why the combination of Pickens and CeeDee Lamb could create matchup nightmares all season long. Early August results don’t guarantee anything, but the Cowboys offense is beginning to show signs of becoming faster, deeper and considerably more dangerous heading into September.

The Dallas Cowboys defense made a major statement in joint practice against the Los Angeles Rams, and linebacker Justin Barron stole the show with three interceptions, including a huge pick off Matthew Stafford. Barron’s breakout performance immediately raises the question of whether he has forced his way into a bigger role on this Cowboys defense. Shavon Revel Jr. also impressed in coverage against Puka Nacua, while DaRon Bland, Caleb Downs and the rest of the Dallas secondary continued to show why this defense could be one of the most exciting units to watch in 2026.
On this episode of Locked On Cowboys Hit, we break down Justin Barron’s three-interception performance, what it means for the Cowboys linebacker room, and how the Dallas secondary performed against a talented Rams offense. With Shavon Revel making plays, DaRon Bland providing stability, Caleb Downs bringing elite potential, and the pass rush creating pressure up front, the Cowboys defense is starting to look fast, physical and disruptive at every level.
The biggest takeaway from the Rams joint practice wasn’t just one player making a highlight. Dallas consistently made Matthew Stafford and the Rams offense uncomfortable, and the Cowboys showed signs of having real depth across the defense. If Justin Barron can build on this performance and the secondary continues to develop, Dallas could have a legitimate defensive breakout on its hands this season.
Cowboys Nation, what are you buying more after this practice: Justin Barron becoming a real contributor, or the Cowboys secondary becoming one of the strengths of the team? The Dallas Cowboys may not be done making moves. After locking up Quinnen Williams with a massive extension, Jerry Jones and the Cowboys now have roughly $16 million in available cap space, giving Dallas room to remain aggressive as the 2026 NFL season approaches. On this episode of Locked On Cowboys Hit, we break down what the Quinnen Williams contract means for the Cowboys’ salary cap, why Jerry Jones appears more willing than ever to trade premium draft picks, and whether Dallas could be preparing for another major addition. Could the Cowboys use their flexibility to add another defensive playmaker? Could they target help for Dak Prescott and the offensive line? Or should Dallas hold onto its cap space and wait for a surprise veteran, roster cut or blockbuster trade opportunity later in the season? The Cowboys have already shown a clear win-now mentality, aggressively reshaping the roster and investing heavily in the defense. Young players like Caleb Downs and Malachi Lawrence are expected to play major roles, but another proven veteran could potentially take this roster to another level. The biggest question now is simple: Who should Jerry Jones go get next? Cowboys Nation, YOU are the GM. If Dallas can add one more player through a trade or signing, who are you bringing to the Cowboys? The Dallas Cowboys have made a massive investment in their defense, signing star defensive tackle Quinnen Williams to a 3-year, $105.9 million contract extension worth $35.3 million per season. The deal makes Williams one of the highest-paid defensive tackles in the NFL and firmly establishes him as a cornerstone of the Cowboys defense.
But did Dallas pay too much?
On this episode of Locked On Cowboys Hit, we break down the Quinnen Williams contract, how it compares to other elite NFL defensive tackles like Jalen Carter, Chris Jones, Jeffery Simmons and Dexter Lawrence, and whether Williams' production justifies the massive price tag.
Williams finished the 2025 season with an 88.8 PFF overall grade, ranking second among interior defenders, while earning an elite 91.7 run-defense grade. His impact also went far beyond the sack column, consistently creating pressure, collapsing the pocket and disrupting opposing offenses from the interior.
We also discuss what Williams' extension means for the future of the Dallas Cowboys defense, why his production improved after arriving in Dallas, and whether the Cowboys have found the dominant interior presence they've been searching for.
Cowboys Nation: Is Quinnen Williams worth $35.3 million per year, or did Jerry Jones overpay?

Could Caleb Downs and Malachi Lawrence completely transform the Dallas Cowboys defense in 2026? After a disastrous defensive season in Dallas, the Cowboys invested two first-round picks in defensive playmakers and the early returns from training camp could give Cowboys Nation serious reason for optimism. James Duncan breaks down why Caleb Downs could be an immediate difference-maker in the Dallas Cowboys secondary. The former Ohio State star has quickly taken on a major role in the defense, bringing versatility, instincts, and playmaking ability to a unit that desperately needed all three. With DaRon Bland and Shavon Revel Jr. also taking steps forward, could the Cowboys suddenly have the pieces for a dangerous young secondary? Then there’s Malachi Lawrence. The explosive rookie defensive lineman brings another potential game-changer to a Dallas front looking to become far more disruptive in 2026. If Lawrence can turn his athleticism and upside into immediate production, the Cowboys defense could look completely different from the unit that struggled last season. Dallas doesn’t necessarily need the NFL’s No. 1 defense to become a legitimate contender. It needs a massive improvement and Caleb Downs, Malachi Lawrence and a young group of emerging Cowboys defenders could provide exactly that. Could Ryan Flournoy be the unexpected X-factor that transforms the Dallas Cowboys offense in 2026? After an impressive training camp and preseason surge, Flournoy is making a serious case to become Dak Prescott’s reliable WR3 alongside CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens.
James Duncan breaks down why Ryan Flournoy’s emergence could be one of the biggest developments coming out of Dallas Cowboys training camp. With defenses already forced to account for Lamb as a superstar No. 1 receiver and Pickens as a dangerous downfield weapon, Flournoy’s ability to make contested catches, contribute in the red zone, and move the chains could create a completely different dynamic for the Cowboys offense.
If Flournoy earns a legitimate role in 11 personnel, how do defenses stop Dallas? Double CeeDee Lamb and risk leaving George Pickens one-on-one? Give safety help to Pickens and create opportunities underneath? Or trust a cornerback to handle a rapidly improving Flournoy by himself?
Ryan Flournoy might not be the biggest name on the Cowboys offense, but his development could be the piece that makes Dak Prescott’s group significantly harder to defend.
